Video : Inktense Watercolour – Penny Black!

Today I felt like colouring with my Inktense Pencils, and I forgot how much I adore the vibrancy of them!   Especially when I’m colouring such a sweet little Penny Black image, so I filmed as I created so you can watch the process.

You can see my video here or Watch it in HD at Youtube.

  1. Beautiful card, Therese! I love the effects of your coloring and lovely details with your glittery snow! You’ve inspired me to take out my Inktense pencils…thanks for suggesting smooth Bristol, too 🙂
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

  2. Ooooooo Therese soooo beautiful I just have to have her and colour her. She looks so perfect in inktense and the sparkle wow you are the queen of colouring

  3. You make it look like magic, Therese! You certainly make me want to get out my pencils again! Thank you for another year of brilliant inspiration and for all the time you take to help us learn!! Happy Holidays!! Hugs, Darnell

  4. The greenish sky is perfect. Sometimes the sky turns that color when there is a change in the weather.

I love watching you color, only there are times when I think you’re done and you add more to an area. That makes me think, “oh, no”, but it always ends up great. 😄

  5. Wowwww…this is gorgeous..the little girl looks so beautiful….and thank you for the video Therese…I did get myself a set of the Inktense pencils but wasn’t able to colour properly…now I know I was using way too much… 🙂

  6. What a darling little girl whistling with her little friend! I loved watching your coloring! I happen to know that Santa is bringing some Inktense pencils to my house for Christmas this year, so I was even more attentive to your technique! Love the snow detail too!

  7. Just Gorgeous! Love the image and as always you have coloured her perfectly. Hoping to get some downtime after the summer to to play with my various stashes of goodies.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas. Hope you can stay cool 🙂 it’s going to be a hot one.

  8. Gosh what a stunning and beautiful card, the little girl is oh so sweet and reminds me of myself when I was little. Well done on creating such a wonderful design. Glad I found you too this year, I’m in aw of your work and you are such a inspiration. Hugs xx

  9. I love this sweet image and how you colored her. I love that you tried the inktense on the bristol paper. I have a bunch of images already stamped on bristol and now I am inspired to try my inktense pencils again. Merry Christmas, Therese!

  10. What an adorable image and so beautifully colored, Therese. One question. Which color pencil did you use for the shading? I love using my Inktense pencils but I need a lot more practice with layering the colors and shading.

    1. Hi there, Mostly I used the Neutral Gray for the shading, but this time added just a little Ink Black. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas Bobby, hope you have a fab day! Hugs Therese

  11. Darling image and your coloring is fabulous. Looking forward to curling up after the holidays and binge watching you tube crafty vids. Thanks so much for making them.

  12. It is one of the most loveliest cards I have ever seen! So beautiful!
I tried this technique with Caran d’Ache Prismalo but it didn’t work at the way it worked with you (I watched you work on this card several times). Are the pensils you used a different kind? I’m not familiar with this brand of yours at all.
Thx for your help and may you have a beautiful, blessed, merry Christmas!

    1. Hi Barbara,
I don’t know the pencil type that you are talking about but the ones that I used are quite unique. They are made by Derwent and called ‘Inktense’, they work like a watercolour but are actually a very intense ‘ink’ and once they dry are set permanently. Because the colour is so vibrant / strong you only need the smallest amount and then if you want more you can always add another layer once it’s dry or even touch the tip of the pencil with a wet brush and pick up the colour that way. I will have to take a peek at the pencils you are talking about because I’ve heard that Caran d’Ache are one of the best on the market, I would love to try them one day (so many techniques, so little time lol). Hope you had a great Christmas too, Crafty hugs, Therese

      1. Thank you, Therese, I appreciate you taking the time to answer.
I have grown up with Caran d’Ache since they are Swiss and me too, :-).
But now I understand since they are not ink but watercolors. Anyway I will try and buy me those Derwent Inktense since I saw how fabulos they worked.
Greetings from Switzerland and happy new 2017. Barbara
