Today I felt like colouring with my Inktense Pencils, and I forgot how much I adore the vibrancy of them! Especially when I’m colouring such a sweet little Penny Black image, so I filmed as I created so you can watch the process.

The greenish sky is perfect. Sometimes the sky turns that color when there is a change in the weather.
I love watching you color, only there are times when I think you’re done and you add more to an area. That makes me think, “oh, no”, but it always ends up great. 😄

I love this sweet image and how you colored her. I love that you tried the inktense on the bristol paper. I have a bunch of images already stamped on bristol and now I am inspired to try my inktense pencils again. Merry Christmas, Therese!
What an adorable image and so beautifully colored, Therese. One question. Which color pencil did you use for the shading? I love using my Inktense pencils but I need a lot more practice with layering the colors and shading.

I tried this technique with Caran d’Ache Prismalo but it didn’t work at the way it worked with you (I watched you work on this card several times). Are the pensils you used a different kind? I’m not familiar with this brand of yours at all.

Hi Barbara,
I don’t know the pencil type that you are talking about but the ones that I used are quite unique. They are made by Derwent and called ‘Inktense’, they work like a watercolour but are actually a very intense ‘ink’ and once they dry are set permanently. Because the colour is so vibrant / strong you only need the smallest amount and then if you want more you can always add another layer once it’s dry or even touch the tip of the pencil with a wet brush and pick up the colour that way. I will have to take a peek at the pencils you are talking about because I’ve heard that Caran d’Ache are one of the best on the market, I would love to try them one day (so many techniques, so little time lol). I have grown up with Caran d’Ache since they are Swiss and me too, :-).
But now I understand since they are not ink but watercolors. Anyway I will try and buy me those Derwent Inktense since I saw how fabulos they worked.
