Video : Altenew Focus Post – Extra Special!

Today at the Altenew Blog I have a focus post featuring the new Extra Special stamp set. That means three different cards using this set as well as a video which you can find linked below.

For my first card I created a stamped background with the main flower image from the Extra Special stamp set and then for the sentiment I couldn’t help myself but I just had to get out the Bold Alphabet dies (sorry Wida) and I used one of the new cardstocks, this one is the Deep Iris and isn’t it pretty!

and did you see that I had the Ink Sprays out again….. I used Soft Lilac, Lavender Fields and Frayed Leaf to create my background.

For my second card I also used the Halftone Stencil and the Artist Markers to create a more classic ‘Mother’s Day’ design.

My final card (and video) was probably the easiest and funnest, I created a subtle background for the Thank You die which I made all shimmery….  but you can watch the whole process on video if you scroll just a little further on.

  1. Hello Therese: I love the way you create this fabulous die cut sentiments, I need to go and get some fun foam, it’s so easy and it gives such beautiful dimension to your cards.
I was wondering if you only use black and white fun foam for your sentiments? do you ever use other colors to match your cards?
Thank you so much for sharing, I love watching your videos and listening to your super fabulous voice.
    Have a fabulous day!!
    Hugs,
    Maria Rodriguez.

    1. Hi Maria, I mostly use white and black fun foam behind my sentiments and die cuts but sometimes I do use ‘colours’, it’s whatever whim I am on that day lol. On the fox card (and video) that I recently made for Altenew I used brown fun foam behind the die cut and this looked great! Thanks so much for visitng my blog and for your lovely comments, you have totally made my day! Crafty Hugs, Therese x

  2. What a great bunch of cards you’ve shared in this post….I love your die cut large alphabet cards and that halftone stencil gives a great effect in the background…off to see your video now!!

  3. Oh such a fantastic set of cards from this set. I think I might have it and you have provided some fabulous inspiration.

  4. Love the look of that stamp set Therese and you have worked your magic with it for sure. My fave is the second card with the stencilled background – love that look.

  5. A trio of loveliness, Therese … such beautiful cards showcasing this gorgeous set! I was especially taken with the one in the video … that shimmery black sentiment against the subtle floral sprigs is stunning! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  6. All three of your cards are gorgeous! I love the spatter and the boldness of the die cut words. That half-tone stencil looks amazing behind those beautiful flowers!

  7. I think the Extra Special stamp set is my favourite in the latest Altenew release. It’s on my wish list!! I think I need to get fun foam too!! Your cards are amazing! I am feeling withdrawals after my solid week of learning from you and creating, but life gets in the way sometimes!!

  8. You’re so good at pretty florals Therese, your colour choices are perfect and I love that the half tone stencil works so well behind any stamp set not just bold fun designs 🙂
