Video : Washi Release Blog Hop & Giveaway!

Time for some new Washi’s from Altenew, and the designs are better than ever!  We are hopping along to celebrate and you should have arrived here from ZINIA’s wonderful blog.I have two cards and a video to share today, starting with a very clean and simple design.

It had been too long since I used the Summer Swirls set and for some reason the Rainbow Washi made me think of ice cream…  and I did have to ‘double up’ the washi to get the background stripes in the pattern.

My sentiment is from the Layered Cupcake Stamp Set and I added a Fine Frame directly to the card front.

My second card uses the dramatic Tuxedo Washi Tape and I have a video showing you how the card came together.

I finally got the loooong coveted Floral Fantasy Dies and adore them as much as the stamp set.  My sentiment is from the Signature Words Die set which you may have noticed has seriously been getting a workout here.

  1. Beautiful cards Therese. The ice lolly is really great and I love the Floral Fantasy card too. It’s one of my favourite die sets. You just can’t go wrong. Love these new Washi tapes. They are going to be so versatile on many projects. TFS

  2. What a great idea using Washi tape to make popsicle. ( think outside the box lol) and those embellishments on top is adorable!
What a great combination on the thanks card using black and bright colors.

  3. Gosh, they are gorgeous washi tapes! And you’ve created some lovely cards with them. Thank you for the inspiration!

  4. Therese, what a great Popsicle card you made with the washi tape! You were totally thinking outside the icebox on that one!!! I also really like the way you used the tuxedo washi tape; and you made the flowers look like a boutonniere (at least that is what it reminds me of! Reminds me of prom and homecoming dances).
Thanks for sharing! Always fun to watch you in videos!

  5. The Washi tape in this release is gorgeous. And I have been on the fence about the floral 3d die, but you have completely sold me on it.

  6. Beautiful cards!! The Tuxedo tape makes a stunning background for your second card!! TFS your video and showing how easy (and forgiving) it is to use the tape. Can’t wait to try some!

  7. Love these new washi tapes! Can’t wait to get them. I love your cards, the tuxedo washi tape makes that card so elegant looking. Thank you for sharing.

    background it makes. Gorgeous card.

  14. Your cards are funny for the first one and very elegant for the second card ! And of course, it was a great pleasure to watch your video (and I got a few tips about things not to do – LOL !)

  15. Wide washi tape? What a GREAT idea!!!! I really like the tuxedo tape too. And I’ve had my eye on the layering floral die for a while. So pretty and versatile AND no bulk added to a card! Thanks, Therese

  19. This is the first time I’ve entered a comment, but I must tell you how much I admire Therese’s brilliant blossoms against the tuxedo washi. The bright reds, the black background, the fine white accent lines…everything balances perfectly. I must try it!

  20. Making a ice cream pop from the stripe washi is brilliant. I love how it turned out. Great tuxedo card too.

  21. I’m so glad you used that washi background–I was dying to see it in action. It’s stunning, as is your card.

  22. You crack me up! And you make gorgeous cards. Using wide washi tape is so fast and so effective. I love it. The black and white card is dramatic and so pretty. Love your designs!

  23. Gosh, those bold blooms are so dramatic against the tuxedo washi, Therese … so eyecatching and striking! Love the striped ice cream with the fun sprinkles … fresh, clean and so yummy … save one for me! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  24. Two great cards, and another fun video, Therese! I really do enjoy your videos and watch them whenever I can. LOVE that wide washi tape. The possibilities are endless…. Such a sweet ‘friend’ card… Literally!! Have a lovely weekend. : )

  25. Such a grandiose look to your creation using the Tuxedo for background, and the lovely floral foreground.

  26. Love your cards as usual, especially the Tuxedo one. Your videos are so entertaining and you make card making so possible for everyone!

  27. I so want to see the pixilated pink washi tape in use! The tuxedo really appeals to me too. Love the icecream.

  28. These tapes are so delicious, just like your ice cream treat!! I am in love with the tuxedo too. Lots of thoughts for using the wonderful tapes.

  29. I laugh with you on every video you make……apparently we have the same sense of humour (silliness). But seriously, who would’ve thought you could do this with washi tape? Beautiful!

  30. Fabulous cards! Love that fun popsicle, and the layered flowers are beautiful against the Tuxedo washi background!

  31. Gorgeous cards as always Therese! Watching you with the Tuxedo Washi Tape made me think of covering school books in contact! lol Although the Washi seems to be MUCH more forgiving.
Alternew continues to keep lifting the bar with their new products. I am still waiting for my Christmas Stamps order ( it is in Sydney! ) and now I have to have these washi tapes. I have so many ideas swirling around in my head.
Keep up the great work xx

  32. These different patterns would be helpful when you don’t have time to a full out background….and they are all great!

  33. Hi Therese, I just love watching you. This one with the washi tape, wow. There is so many things you can do with it. I would love to win. Thanks for the chance!!

  34. Hi Therese. You always create such unusual cards! Love your two using this new FABULOUS washi tape release by Altenew. Foaming at the mouth to get these!!!! I always love watching you create and hearing an Aussie accent. Am crazy about these washi tapes!!!! I was wondering, as you are an Aussie and make cards using rectangular frames, which brand do you find that fits our Aussie card dimensions. I have a few sets and the largest one is always just a little too wide for our card bases and the next size down is just that little bit too small. Probably wide enough but too short. Can you recommend a set for me please? I know I can cut down my top layer and adapt, but sometimes I really want the frame to cover the whole card except for a tiny border. If you don’t have time, I really understand. You’re such a busy girl. Please keep making tutorials because I enjoy you. Thanks so much. Bev from Sydney. XX

    1. Hi Bev, I have always created my own card bases from A4 (Australian size) for years and if I did want to make a US size card I would just cut one sheet to fit. I have found the ‘pre made’ card bases tend to be flimsy and restrictive but I know people that will only use these, it all comes down to personal choice. Now that I can buy Neenah 80lb / 110lb in Australia I am tending to use the US size cardstock especially if I want to add a cover plate die etc. There is an Australian company ‘Paper Rose’ that have created Australian (and I think she makes US sizes too so be sure to double check) rectangle sized die cuts for our sized cards and her dies are very high quality. Her company is based in Handorf SA and is called Paper Roses. She often travels to the craft shows so if you attend them you may have seen her there. I think I have seen her products sold at Scrapbook Boutique and maybe Craft Online but Here is the link to her shop just in case https://paperrose.com.au/ I am not sure what size the Kaisercraft dies are, but they would also be worth a look as they are an Australian company too.. Hope this is helpful, Crafty hugs, Therese

  35. Wonderful cards! The first one with the Ice Cream on a stick using the Rainbow Washi tape is just so precious! I really love the little cute little colored balls all over it too!

  36. Hi Therese, I love the look of the washi tape some great colour and designs on them, and your card is lovely, TFS, Cheers Anna.

  37. Thanks for showing how to fix those pesky little mistakes that always make me want to throw cards away!

  38. I am so excited about the new Washi Tapes, wonderful release! Your Ice cream card is adorable and your Floral Fantasy/Tuxedo Washi card is elegant and gorgeous. Thank you for sharing and the inspiration.

  39. Your first card is cute, but I am completely enamoured with the second one. Bold, intense colours with the arrangement of the flowers to off set the black background. Just beautiful!

  40. Those are some fabulous wasi tapes. Headed to my craft room to use some of an earlier release washi tape on a card. Can’t wait. Thanks Therese for the motivation.

  41. These washi tapes are all so amazing. The gold touch on some of them make them elegantly beautiful. These Altenew washi tapes are really unique and I love the way they have been showcased in all your wonderful cards

  42. I LOVE the cards! I’ve been trying for some time to find the large washi tape and am SO HAPPY Altenew has them! Thank you!

  43. Cute use of the washi tape to create the popsicle and I love that dark back tape with the gorgeous floral die cuts!

  44. Both of your cards are lovely. I must say…I’m especially fond of what you’ve done with the Tuxedo Washi tape! Wow! Those bright, beautiful flowers against that black background! So, so pretty.

  45. I LOVE your ice cream idea!!! So beautiful, unique and…yummy! 😀These new washi tapes are amazing! They are so versatile and with gorgeous designs! 😍😍😍💖💖💖

  46. I love how you created ice cream out of washi tape. The card turned out so cute. The tuxedo washi tape made a gorgeous background for your beautiful flowers. Thanks for sharing your time and talent with us.

  47. There is hope for me using the wide washi tape – I laughed as you had to lift and relay the tape on your video, maybe I can conquer it too. Wonderful wonderful card. The ice cream card – who would have thought of that? Very clever. TFS

  48. 🙂 that ice-cream card made me smile – I’m actually craving one right now – haha. Both cards are beautiful Therese

  49. Beautiful card Therese. Thanks for the video (and keeping in the struggles we all have in creating). There are no mistakes in crafting, just opportunities to embellish. You do it so well! thank you for sharing.

  50. Your ice cream bar looks delicious, Therese, & I love the frame around it. The flowers against that wonderful background are fabulous! Love the bright colors. I would say the first one is my fave but maybe because I love ice cream!!

  51. Beautiful cards Therese. I did look at getting that die set but changed my mind – I already have a layered rose set that I got free with a magazine (it is an Altenew one!!) Great idea for using washi tape. I will have to find a supplier here in Australia…do you know of anywhere that stocks them please? Hugs Ali xx

  60. Wonderful cards. I really didn’t appreciate the Tuxedo Washi until I saw your beautiful card. I can see so many possibilities with it.

  61. These are fabulous. Like many others, I didn’t really see the possibilities of the Tuxedo washi until I saw your video. Also, I really like how you used the translucent nature of the washi to make your ice cream double-striped. That’s really beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with us!

  62. I love how you layered the rainbow washi to create softer stripes for the popsicle, and those bold flowers really pop against that black-and-white background in the second card… Thank you for the inspiration! 🙂
