Video : Altenew October 2018 Stamp / Die Release Blog Hop & Giveaway!

You are going to love this Altenew release…   I already know it, cause I seriously do!  And to celebrate we are hopping along so you should have arrived here from MISSY’s amazing Blog!

I couldn’t stop creating so I have a total of three cards and a video to share with you today, starting with my fave.  I used the Layered Floral Elements Die and Altenew cardstocks, even though they are not specifically for Christmas I thought they still worked well.

Altenew - Layered Floral Elements - Fine Frames Cover Die - Brilliant Baubles - Therese Calvird (card) 1 copy

My sentiment came from the Brilliant Baubles Stamp Set and I used the new Fine Frames Cover Die to ‘frame’ it.

Altenew - Layered Floral Elements - Fine Frames Cover Die - Brilliant Baubles - Therese Calvird (card) 1 copy

My second card is all about the Brilliant Baubles and I had a blast layering these up…  and I didn’t even use all the layers, there were so many options!

Altenew - Brilliant Baubles - Peace On Earth - Tiny Triangles -Therese Calvird (card) 1 copy

I added a subtle Tiny Triangles background and the sentiment was taken from Peace on Earth (it’s the French one…  ooh la la)!

As for my next card, this was one of those ideas that just had to be made once the idea hit my head.  And you can watch the video linked below to see how I cooked this one up.

Altenew - Peace Love Joy - Festive Silhouettes - Therese Calvird (card video) 1 copy

My sentiment was taken from the Festive Silhouettes Stamp Set.

  1. I honestly thought you used Glossy Accents on the icing portion. The little white shadow lines give the effect of shine. Once again you’ve amazed me, Therese!!

  2. I will head over to watch you bake that cookie… but had to say WOW!!! to your gorgeous brown card before I go… well they are all gorgeous – but I LOve brown and red for Christmas! I sense some shopping happening soon… xx
    =]

  3. Love all three designs Therese, but my favourite is the first using the Layered Floral Elelments. It’s vibrant and beautiful and really does work for Christmas with those bright tones. I keep telling myself “no more florals” and each month Altenew brings yet more designs I can resist. Thank you for sharing your lovely designs, tips and techniques.

  4. I absolutely love this card and I have never thought about coloring with pencils over a stamped image. what a great idea and I can’t wait to try it!

  5. Wonderful cards. I like your ‘biscuit’ (cookie to me) card the best and your video is great too!

  6. The floral on the dark cardstock is a stunner, and I do love the baubles too. That set is so tempting! I will try to watch your video later when I am over at YouTube. Have a good day, Therese!

  7. I love the black background with your floral dies. It made such a lovely card and so not traditional. Great Job.

  8. You have created such beautiful projects! I absolutely LOVE the cookie!! I also enjoyed watching the video of how you colored it.

  9. Love what you’ve done with this new release. The star design reminds me of biscuits we used to have when we were little!

  10. I knew from the sneak peeks that the 3d layered floral dies would be awesome…and now I’m looking at your gorgeous card…I love the colours you’ve used…the other two cards are fabulous too..!!

  11. Really loved your idea on the first card, to use a floral design to send a Christmas message. very unique!

  12. Hi Therese – cookies can be soft, crunchy, chewy, hard – and your cookie card is so lovely – I used to decorate cookies like that for Christmas with my kids. Your first card is gorgeous – love those colors against the black background.

  13. Your cards are all beautiful! I always love seeing your creations and this is a fun blog hop. Biscuit or cookie…whatever, it looks good enough to eat. 🙂

  14. Very pretty cards! My favourite is the first as I love the font used on the greeting. I also like the non-traditional Christmas colours used with the ornaments.

  15. Absolutely gorgeous cards Therese! Beautiful designs and color palettes. Love them all but the first one really captured my heart.

  16. Beautiful cards! I especially loved the first one with the pops of bright colors on the darker background!

  17. Wow! I watched the video on YouTube first, and I then came to your blog and found even more amazing cards! They’re each full of love, creativity and joy! Just like the holidays should be! Thanks for always inspiring us and making us smile! 💛🎄💫

  18. ohhh Therese these cards are beautiful but the one that takes the cake is the biscuit one (bet that confused a few people, biscuit thats not a biscuit, its a cookie lol). I think it looks so brilliant, that added brown for the biscuit edge and the soft no line colouring, the best iced biscuit I have ever seen. Fabulous release.

  19. The three cards are really amazing. Love the Christmas release. Love making Christmas cards too!
The video was very entertaining and helpful.
    Thank you.
    Cheers
    Lisa

  20. WONDERFUL cards – LOVE your cheery colours and designs!
WOW – the baubles have gorgeous inky details in the layers!
LOVE all the florals from this release and feel SO INSPIRED to see my favourite Layered Floral Elements dies make such a STUNNING non-tradition Christmas card => THANK YOU for sharing 🙂

  21. Gorgeous cards, really love the no line colouring result, definitely falling in love with the gorgeous heart. Thank you for sharing.

  22. Love your videos and you always put a smile on my face listening to them. Great cards as always Therese.

  23. Wow! All three cards are stunners! I love the first one with the bold dark blackground and die cuts. It’s so clean but striking! And the cookie star! It looks so yummy!

  24. I love all 3 of your cards, but the last one, that “simple” star and sentiment, is my favorite. Gorgeous!

  25. Yes this release is awesome. Love all of these, but especially your lovely little CAS biscuit. My favorites so far are potted plants and the alphabet size is so great. Thanks for sharing these.

  26. I especially love the first floral Christmas card! The colors are beautiful together and really make a statement.

  27. Absolutely gorgeous card! Your video tutorial was so much fun to watch. And I guess it really doesn’t matter whether one calls them ‘cookies’ or ‘biscuits’; yours looked good enough to eat!

  28. Thank you, I found that dramatic look with the black background to the whimsical look of your biscuit cards interesting. You have given me so many ideas to use this new release.

  29. Beautiful Cards!! I love seeing all the inspiration. Thank you for sharing all the fantastic Ideas =)

  30. My favorite is the Star card! It’s so simple and yet stunning! Thank you for sharing your talent with us!

  31. I love the graphic feel and nontraditional color scheme of your first card. Thank you for taking part in the Altenew blog hop!

  32. I thought you had iced your cookie (that’s what they are in the US) with Glossy Accents to give it shine, Therese. It was just your fabulous way of coloring and highlighted that did it. The other cards are lovely too.

  33. You are so right…I do LOVE this release from Altenew! All your cards are sweet, but that cookie/biscuit takes the cake! 😉

  34. Therese, I love these cards! The ornament card is perfect. Love the placement of the ornaments and they are so pretty. I really love the way your florals stand out against the dark background. The little cookie cutter ornament is so cute!

  35. Love those color combinations…the first card really pops. It is unique for a Christmas card and stands out!

  36. Your cards are beautiful! That star looks good enough to eat & the baubles are bright & fun! However, the black card with the floral elements on it is STUNNING! TFS!

  37. I thought I liked the layered snowflakes set the best until I saw your layered floral elements Christmas card. Great use of materials and products. So beautiful…

  38. What a lovely and varied release with something for every occasion. Especially love those layered bloom dies, the swiss dots background and that gorgeous alphabet. Thanks for the beautiful inspiration!

  39. I love the variety of your cards. Thank you for the video. I am trying to move beyond just basic coloring, and watching the process makes me appreciate the effort and talent that goes into your cards even more.

  40. I always love your cards and this collection is no exception! The layered florals on the black background is stunning! I have a different floral 3D floral Altenew set and will definitely try this color combo! Love how you “cooked” up your star card! The colors are so soft and yummy. Thanks for sharing your process and videos!

  41. These are beautiful! I really love the florals on the dark background on the first and really am loving the ornament set, my favorite of this release!

  42. wait! no cookies in Australia??? cancelling my plans to hop over for dinner! luv that you envisioned a cookie when you saw that star 🙂

  43. Therese – LOVE all your cards, and really enjoyed the video. Your cookie (biscuit) looks SO real (love how you did the shading)…..it looks like a soft, chewy cookie. Sometimes the dough recipe determines consistency of the cookie, but often it’s just how long you bake it! Your cookie definitely looks good to eat – but I agree…. I don’t want to eat the beautiful cookies because they take a lot of time & effort to decorate!

  44. Wow! You can make a paper cookie (or biscuit) look absolutely delicious! All of your cards are beautiful!

  45. Gorgeous cards! Love them all. Thanks for showing us how to color the cookie/biscuit with colored pencils. Not sure I can color as well as you but I am definitely going to give it a try.

  46. What a stunning cookie you made! (For me, it’s a cookie. Biscuits are a savory bread-thing here in the States.) I never would have guessed that the cookie portion was done in pink as well! And your highlights? Just perfect. Thank you for sharing; I’m definitely going to have to try this!

  47. Stunning cards. I loved how the flowers popped on the black cardstock. Your cookie card is darling. Thanks for sharing your time and talent with us.

  48. Another great Altenew release. The Layered Floral dies will make it so easy to create some great cards. Thanks for the inspiration!

  49. Love how you used these stamp sets to create some adorable Christmas cards! I love this release, and already have ordered several sets! Can’t wait to get them in my mailbox for sure!

  50. Amazing color choices for all your cards!!! Love seeing the no line video too! Thanks for all the inspiration

  51. Each card is awesome! Love how the first strays from the traditional cards. Those ornaments have do many options. Your biscuit looks so real and yummy. Thanks for showing how you created it.

  52. All three cards are beautiful. My favorite is the layered floral card. The bright colors on the dark cardstock is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing your ideas.

  53. Your cards are so different to each other and all are beautiful! I love the colours you used for your baubles.

  54. An adorable Christmas “cookie”, Therese! I first thought you’d glazed it with something shiny too. Fabulous coloring.

  55. Very pretty cards. I really like the script on that first card and the darker cardstock. It goes so well with the card.

  56. O WOW!! Your first card is STUNNING!! The black background with those die cut flowers in those bright vibrant colours makes for one gorgeous christmas card. I never would’ve thought to make a christmas card with those flowers but they work amazingly well. Your brilliant baubles card is another gorgeous card with nontraditional Christmas colours. And at last is your sweet star cookie card. It’s simple yet impressive. It really does ĺook good enough to eat! Such awesome inspiration and I am going to challenge myself to make a few cards this Christmas using unexpected colours

  57. Hi Therese! Your cards are lovely! I’m trying to break free of the red/green or blue/silver Christmas palettes and you’re helping me do just that! I love the composition of your first card, the color palette of your second card and the clean, simple, fresh lines of the third one! Thanks for the inspiration!

  58. I love all 3 of your cards, the Brilliant Baubles is so awesome! This release is fabulous and so many options for all year with much of it, I love it all 🙂 (mardy14@bellsouth.net)

  59. A trio of loveliness, Therese … the florals are wonderfully festive, that’s a beautifully baked (and scrumptious looking!) biscuit, and you know I’m going to love the baubles with that French sentiment! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  60. Beautiful cards! I especially love the ornament set! I’m enjoying all the inspiration along the hop!

  61. Therese, these cards are gorgeous. I’m just starting to use colored pencils and love the tips. You’ve inspired me!

  62. What beautiful cards. But I love your cookie/biscuit the best. I had to go get a hot coffee and some cookies of my own. They aren’t half as cute as yours. (Here in Texas we call them cookies. Biscuits are thick and fluffy and more of a bread than a sweet.)

  63. That is a gorgeous release, especially in your creative hands! Your color combos in your flowers and your ornaments are gorgeous! I’ve watched people decorate cookies like that, and yours looks just as delicious and amazing!
