Video : Tim Holtz Alcohol Lift-Ink Technique Fun!

You already know about my love affair with Yupo and alcohol inks, now I have my hands on the Alcohol Lift-Ink from Tim Holtz and there’s no stopping me now (insert cackle here).

My video explains why this first card is here and you can link to that below….   but for those that have already seen the video here it is!

So bold….

And now for the Alcohol Lift Ink technique card….

Lostinpaper - Ellen Hutson - Mondo Sakura - Alcohol Lift Ink Technique (card video) 1

I used the Mondo Sakura on both designs and one die cut sentiment comes from the co-ordinating dies and the other from the Block Words Die Set.

I’ve linked all of the products that I used below and if you have any questions, just let me know, Crafty hugs,

  1. Tim Holtz sells paint brushes to use with the alcohol inks. They make the inks blend great.ineedle3@

  2. Love the vivid background for that gorgeous floral stamp Therese. Also your first card (boo boo) is also fabulous. Love the colours there with the green and I do like the circle effect you get with the AI’s – in fact I love both. Thanks for sharing and showing the results of Tim’s lift. Got to get some of that!
PS How are you enjoying your Gemini Jnr?

    1. It’s a definite Yes Please for the Gemini Junior! I will have to talk about it more on my videos now I’ve had it for a while, but I am loving it, I think it’s going to chew through the base plates much more than my Bigshot though… but the plates are only $14 each so not to expensive I suppose. Thanks again for your lovely visit, Crafty hugs, Therese

    2. I love my Gemini Jr too but did you see the latest….the new Gemini Go (“GG”), apparently a mini version. I don’t think I’d go to the expense as I have the TH Sidekick, which I also love as it is so quick when running dies thru it and I can’t see the GG being faster; then again, it’s also about the cutting of your more intricate dies which the Gemini machines are known for. Happy crafting everyone!

  3. Both cards are beautiful. I love the bold black flowers very much. Love using the alcohol ink on Yupo, though controlling it is problematic at times, but it’s so much fun to try. It’s relaxing to just let go and play! 🙂

  4. Wow, can’t believe how beautiful your first try turned out…you always surprise me in the best possible ways…Good ole black …. really makes the rest of those colors pop….! So enjoy your video’s, you seem to come up with that one more thing that makes your cards so beautiful. Thanks for sharing with all of us

  5. I LOVE that first card — the “mistake” (a/k/a “happy accident”!)!!! Really bold and beautiful. I’ve been playing a bit with the lift ink and it does take a bit of practice and playing around to understand how it works, but the results are so much fun! I inked some velum paper (for something different than Yupo) and used a star die/stamp with it and made some really fun and beautiful Christmas cards. I got the refill to use with stencils, but I haven’t played with that yet. Appreciate seeing what you’ve done with your backgrounds. Sometimes I make a bunch of backgrounds and then draw a blank on what to do with them!!! I have a couple of backgrounds that didn’t turn out so nice so next time I sit down to play I’ll be “erasing” what I have on the Yupo and trying it again. Gotta love the forgiveness of Yupo!!! Have fun playing and I appreciate you sharing your play time!!!

  6. Therese, both cards are amazing! I love the boldness of the first card…I understand it wasn’t the look you were going for, but it is just as beautiful as the card you completed in the video! You always make me smile…thanks for that!

  7. Two gorgeous cards. Will have to watch the video another time. Haven’t got into the alcohol inks yet – I’m a bit slow on taking up trends! They are very effective.

  8. Oh my goodness, these are absolutely stunning. The gorgeous flowers on that orange background are amazing.

  9. The bold, vibrant colors of both cards are great. My favorite is the first card: the green is a nice contrast, and the black flowers are just so dramatic against the orange and green – fantastic!

  10. Wow the card you made with the first paper is stunning. Both are gorgeous, I don’t think I’m brave enough to use such bold colours!

  11. Both of your cards are incredible, Therese! I do enjoy AI and we all got to try the Lift ink at our retreat last week – so fun! The Sakura and those scripty and block words go so well together!

  12. I have often had trouble with my alcohol backgrounds so I’m glad to see that you experimented to get the look you wanted. Personally I love the first one with the black flowers popping off the gorgeous circle-y background. There’s a whole different feel to the second card but it is lovely also.

  13. Gorgeous, Therese … that first ‘recycled’ AI panel is stunning with the black sakura … what a dramatic look! The lift sakura is bold and delicate at the same time … lovely! Tried the AI lift ink with Darnell, Bev and Kara last week at our retreat … such fun results … though not as delicious as yours here! Hugs, Anita 🙂
