How to Create Background Panels 2 Ways + Video!

Today I share 2 backgrounds using the Watercolor Dots Stamp Set but I change up each of them with the medium that I choose.  This is part of my Take 2 with Therese video series with Altenew and if you haven’t caught any of these videos before I have a link to my playlist with more inspiration HERE.

Altenew - Watercolor Dots - Dainty Bouquet - Hug Me - Take 2 with Therese (card video)

I used the embossed resist technique in both designs and for my first card I added colour with the Watercolor 36 Pan Set.

I added a foxy image from the Hug Me Stamp Set as well as some enamel dots that are in heart shapes.

My second design I decided to add colour with a blending tool and created an ombre effect.

This time I added a silhouette of the Dainty Bouquet as well as a sentiment from the Watercolor Dots Stamp Set.

You can see the whole process in the video here or Watch it in HD at YouTube.

I had so much fun adding colour to these embossed backgrounds, I hope that you were inspired to try using some different mediums to achieve a similar but different look.  Til next time, Hugs,

  1. This was one of those stamp sets that I “just had to have” and yet I still haven’t inked it up. After seeing these beautiful cards, I am inspired. I especially want to try the floral card. Thanks, Therese!

  2. Those backgrounds turned out so well! I know that part of the first one smeared, but you ingeniously rescued it! The colors are wonderful, and I’m now kind of in love with that silhouette on your second card. Might have to do a little shopping later, lol! I do like the hombre background, and with those brushes, it has become a joy to do! Nothing wrong with liking to create your own backgrounds either; yours always turn out so well. Sending hugs. xo : )

  3. I really like your style when viewing your videos. You do everything with a smile and yet you explain it beautifully. Both cards are lovely and personally I wasn’t too bothered by the splatters.

  4. Both styles of colouring look fabulous with the embossed bubbles of white, Therese. The unstructured watercolour one is perfect with that cute little fox and whimsical sentiment … and what a great rescue after the splatter ‘event’! The smoother, ombré blended background is just so right with the silhouette floral sprig … it sets it of beautifully … and the black really adds a touch of drama to it! Gorgeous, as ever! Hugs, Anita 🙂
