Altenew July 2019 Stamp/Die/Stencil/Stamping Mat Release Blog Hop & Giveaway + Video!

Today I share a video of a one layer card, but first did you know that this is part of a Hop celebrating the new release from Altenew and if you are hopping along you should have arrived here from MAY’s fabulous Blog!

I started with some Artist Marker colouring and some gorgeous flowers from the Pen Sketched flowers Stamp Set., but this set has become a teaser…  sadly it won’t be released until the 8/8/2019, but then that gives us something to look forward to!

Altenew - Pen Sketched Flowers - Crystal Frames - Therese Calvird (card) 1 copy

I used the Blushing Blooms Paper Pack and a Nesting Die Sentiment from the Crystal Frames Stamp Set.

My second design uses the Crystal Frames Stamped and heat embossed with the Translucent Pearl Embossing powder.

and I coloured these ‘gems’ with the Watercolor 36 Pan Set as well as adding some shading with my pencils.

My final design and video is where I create a ‘nearly’ One Layer Card Design with progressive masking.

Altenew - Bright Blossoms - Painted Greetings - Therese Calvird (card video) 1 copy

It’s a simple technique and I used the Bright Blossoms Stamp Set with a sentiment from More Than Words as my focal point.

  1. Yes, a thumbs up for the sequins from me too. Love the colours and the contemporary look of the third card, but the pen sketched flowers card is really beautiful too.

  2. The masked layers and bright colours of the third card is a brilliant way to show off these stamps.

  3. Lovely florals! I mostly center the art on my cards, so the way you made the Amazing card looks great to me!

  4. I love the teal colors you used! You make masking look so simple and beautiful. This video makes me want to try it, but I know how long it will take me. Thank you for the inspiration, but if you hear screaming….it is me in Minnesota, USA! 🙂

    1. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent, Therese! These are lovely cards, as always, showcasing another great release from Altenew.

  5. Beautiful cards and designs, Therese! You highlighted the possibilities with these sets wonderfully! ❤️

  6. The last card you made with the masking is beautiful and clean. I love the colors and this new stamp set!

  7. Beautiful cards… and sequins add a ‘simply amazing’ touch to your final card!! Love it!

  8. Enjoyed seeing all your cards. The peach tones are so pretty on the first card.

  9. I vote “no sequins”. Maybe a few dew drops instead. Otherwise this “one layer” card is perfect.

  10. Love the cards…particularly the ‘one layer floral’ with sequins! Sometimes, I think sequins can distract or be too busy, but your sequin placement and colors are gorgeous…really love the addition! ♥ Thanks for the videos, Therese!

  11. Your cards are beautiful! I love the clean designs and the sequins add a nice touch.

  12. Such pretty inspiration for this release! I think the sequins look pretty, but my CAS heart loved the card without. I own many sequins and drops, but I seem never to use them… they’re very pretty in their little jars.

  13. The first card is my favorite!! I hope it will be in stock WITH the dies sooner than hoped!

  14. Thanks Therese for sharing your beautiful and inspirational projects with us. I always enjoy visiting your website and appreciate your efforts in creating and sharing such wonderful tutuorials.

  15. Love the color combinations on the card in the video. The sequins are a definite yes!

  16. I’m a huge fan of your cards and this hop is no exception. I love the clean graphic look to your card! Thanks for sharing your ideas, I’ll have to try the Simply Amazing card.

  17. Love the Bright Blossoms card! All are beautiful but that one just caught my eye!

  18. Great video and fabulous cards, Therese! I love the peach color of the first card – just lovely!

  19. Your cards are always beautiful. This time the first card is my favorite . I like the flowers and the colors.

  20. Wonderful card and enjoyed seeing how it was made. Sequins — meh. maybe clear dew drops but not big busy ones. loved your colors for this!

  21. Delightful cards, Therese. All so different! I particularly like your first card with its lovely sketched flowers. I rather like the no sequins better than the one with them.

  22. All of these are beautiful. I am a big fan of your design style and love seeing your creations. As for the sequins, I would have left them off because that’s just me, not into sequins so much, though on rare occasions I will use a few! 🙂

  23. Great video Therese….you always make me chuckle. I do like the sequins….and your cards are all just beautiful. Hey…the Pen Sketched Flower set could be a gift formy husband as he has a birthday on Aug 9th..maybe I could buy this for him and keep it for myself? LOL….
Thank you for this great tutorial on masking….you have so much patience. Love your work!!!

  24. All lovely cards! I love your videos and never miss them. The sequins added something and look great.

  25. I absolutely am in love with that first card….the colors and the sentiment with that flower stamp set is just beautiful! And while I might not have the patience to do your progressive stamping technique, I really do like it. And who knows……I might just try it! Thanks for your always awesome inspiration, Therese!

  26. Three beautiful and different cards Therese. Loved the video with all the masking hints, and the colours in that one were brilliant. I also loved the peach card.

  27. Your cards are fabulous!! One layer, not one layer. Doesn’t matter because it’s gorgeous!

  28. Definitely yes to the sequins, love the bling! Your ‘one layer’ card is lovely. Really like the clean and simple design. Thanks for sharing all three of your gorgeous cards.

  29. Beautiful cards as always -love the soft colour combo on the first card- the striking colour combo on your video card is stunning.

Breakfast, at 11.28 am, and a show!
All three cards are lovely though.
I loved the sequins and I think they add to the fun of the card
The new release has some very nice things.
I really love the SSS masking paper as well. It just holds up well to inks etc but it also releases very well.
    Cheers
    Lisa

to watch your video’s and this card is beautiful.

  37. Love the simplicity and elegance of your first card. The Pen Sketched flowers is so versatile.

  38. Love the simplicity, it’s gorgeous, the sequins definitely work, the card is strong enough to work without them also, but we always need a little bling in our day

  39. Absolutely gorgeous cards! I loved how you coloured the ‘gems’ in the second card, so beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration.

  40. How lovely! Great color choices and design – inspires me to try masking technique!

  42. Love your cards and the different techniques you have used. The ‘you are precious sentiment’ is awesome.

  43. Love your cards!! Love the color of the first one!! Dreamy!! The idea to make gems out of the Crystal Frames was genius!!

  44. Love the cards, especially the one with the peachy pen sketched flowers. That’s a beautiful stamp set and the colors you chose are gorgeous!

  45. Love the Simply Amazing card! I haven’t tried masking as there is quite a bit of work to it but this video has encouraged me to give it a try. The card turned out beautiful! I prefer the clear bubble look to sequins on most cards but that’s personal preference. Thanks so much for sharing!

  46. Am in love with your Pen sketched flowers especially!! Your one layer bright blossoms card is another of my fav’s!

  47. Therese, love the video and yes to sequins!
I liked it without for a manly version.

  50. Love all your cards.I always love a little bling on my cards, so YES to the sequins

  51. I like the sequins on that card — great choice; very beautiful, simple card (the one from the video) and a great reminder to vary the ways we use our floral stamps. All three cards are beautiful btw. Thank you for sharing your talent, your ideas and your smile-laughs — I love listening to you.
    Cheers, Caro

  52. Your cards are beautiful! Thanks for sharing how you created the floral card with progressive masking. I love the lines you drew above and below the sentiment, and I think the sequins are a nice touch. 🙂

  53. These are simply beautiful. I’m always inspired by your work. Love the watercolor look of the gemstones…and the bright turquoise flowers on your (almost) one layer card.

  54. Hi Therese 🙂 I love the one layer masking technique. Your card looks so clean and fresh. I must give this technique another go. You have inspired me! 😉

  55. I just love the first card idea. It is beautiful and the cardstock colors match so wonderfully.

  56. Loved your first card using my favorite stamp set from the new release. So elegant. I say yes to sequins too!!

  57. All your cards are gorgeous. The color of the first one is so beautiful. I love the masking technique and the style of this card is wonderful. As for the sequins, they’re beautiful, but I think I prefer the card without.

  58. Loved how you cut the popped up sentiment shape out of the same pattern paper that you used for your card, You always have at least one unexpected surprise on your cards….so much fun. Also loved the blue floral card, and it’s a BIG YES for the sequins!

  59. Great cards. I especially like the almost one layer card although I prefer it without the sequins. Really helpful video, too. Thanks for sharing!

  60. All of them are lovely. I love the vividness of the last card though. Thank you for sharing.

  61. Gorgeous creations, Therese! Love the shimmer & real look of the “gems” & the clean simplicity of the last one. My favorite is the Pen Sketched flowers. Can’t wait to get those stamps & dies !!

  62. Beautiful set of cards! I really like the way you watercolored the crystal frames.

  63. What an array of cards. The first one is my favorite…the color and the lined paper just added an extra touch. The crystal frames are growing on me.

  64. I love all of your cards and the video tutorial. If I absolutely had to pick a favorite card it would be that pretty Blush flowers first one. Exquisite!

  65. All three cards are spectacular. I just love your range of styles. I am absolutely drawn to the colors in the last floral one, such a pretty, vibrant combo.

  66. I do love all of them, but the first one especially. The third card I like without the sequins.
