Ellen Hutson July 2019 Release & Giveaway Hop + Video!

Today it’s time for a shaker card and I share some more Prismacolor colouring but this time it’s on dark cardstock!  This is part of the release from Ellen Hutson  and if you are hopping along to celebrate you should have arrived here from MICHELE’s wonderful blog.

I have two cards and a video and my first design is very clean and simple.  This Good Egg Stamp Set really cracks me up (pardon the pun) and I think the images and sentiments are perfect for CAS designs and of course that means a ‘quick and fun’ card in no time at all.

Lostinpaper - Ellen Hutson - Good Egg (card) 1 copy

I did some simple Copic colouring and popped up the images that I cut with the coordinating Good Egg Dies.

My second design was inspired by Sandy Allnock who coloured the most incredible jellyfish which you can see HERE…   I was mesmerised!  Mine are nothing like hers but I was inspired, thank you so much Sandy.

I coloured my jellyfish from Subbing In Stamp Set with Prismacolor Pencils on dark cardstock.

And then used the Porthole Die to create my shaker window.

  1. Hahaha what a fun egg and hen card 😀 Love that design and sentiment! 🙂 I can’t stop laughing at it! 🙂 🙂 And the jelly fish card is beautiful in your coloring! Perfect use of porthole die too! 🙂

  2. Cute cards! I love the way you colored the jellyfish and the sentiment on the hen card is absolutely hilarious!

  3. Fun card and I love the way you colored the jellyfish. Thanks for sharing your work.

  4. Oh my love your delightful cards – your video was so fun – love the coloring and your tips on creating the acetate window shaker card – I tend to add the shaker elements by eye as well – lol – you are always so inspiring

  5. Wow! The Prismacolors pencils on the darker cardstock really makes the jellyfish come alive 😳 Thanks for sharing this great technique.

  6. Those chickens….What a great set! The expressions and sentiments alone are enough to make me want to buy this set! Love the CAS look to your card! Just the right amount of coloring on those goofy birds! My attempts at using colored pencils look nothing like your jellyfish. Your little floaters look amazing, and those colors do really pop against the darker cardstock. I can never measure the fillers for a shaker either. I do the ‘lift and look’ method too. Maybe Alexa or Siri knows, lol! Great cards, my sweet friend. Have a lovely weekend. xo

  7. Oh my gosh, your jellyfish look AMAZING, Therese! I really have to start coloring with pencils on dark cardstock…it’s such a great idea! Off to check out your video 🙂

  8. I really love the way you colored the jellyfish on the grey colored card stock! Very pretty!

  14. You always make me laugh and smile. These little jelly fish are adorable, great coloring!

  15. You mention Sandy A. She’s amazing but you are not too shabby yourself. You make pencil coloring look so easy. I love watching your videos. Thanks for sharing all your fabulous ideas.

  16. As usual, Therese, you did not disappoint! Loved your shaker and think I need to try my prisma colors out again.

  17. Had a little chuckle at your hen card, very sweet.
Loved the shaker card and the prismas pop on the darker card stock.
Hoping you have a lovely weekend and plenty of creative time.
    Cheers
    Lisa

  18. Your chicken card really had me cluckling!!! So funny!!! Love your coloring on the octopus against the gray cardstock. I also like the way they are looking through the porthole–like they want in, or is it that they want out? Lol. TFS

  19. Awesome cards! Love the chickens! They have so much personality! And the jellyfish and porthole window look awesome… great colors!

  20. Those chickens are hilarious! I love your CAS scene! How fun it would be to see these jellyfish looking back at us through a porthole! Beautiful coloring! I struggle with how much shaker elements to add to a shaker card too.

  21. cute, cute, cute! I saw that Sandy Allnock video as well- you are right, it BLEW ME AWAY! But your jellyfish are adorable!

  22. Such fun cards! The chickens and jellyfish are adorable–I really like how you colored them.

  23. Yes very true quick n fun !! Nothing better than a CAS card which makes one smile 😄 I loved both of them , and your pencil coloring is awesome !

  24. Love snarky sentiments. The chickens
are fun. The coloring on the sea critters
is wonderful – gives them an underwater,

  25. Oh dear, Therese, one of those chucks is in trouble … though they’re so cute I guess they’ll be forgiven! Amazing colouring on your shaker … love how the pencil strokes on each jellyfish add to the wateriness of the scene! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  26. Therese, your jellyfish may not look like Sandys’,(whose could?), but I think they look wonderful. I’d be thrilled if mine looked like yours. Those chickens with the sentiments are such a hoot. Thank you for the video on how to make a shaker card. I tried one once & must have taken it apart three times as I kept doing it wrong. I’m going to bookmark this. I love the look of pencil colouring on dark cardstock over a base of white. Your jellyfish look like they are floating. There are so many items in this release that I’d like to have. I’d be over the moon if I win something.

  27. I always love your cards and this release is no exception. The What the Cluck cracks me up and your jellyfish are beautiful.

  28. Therese, I am a huge fan of Sandy Allnock’s and I have to say, you did a GREAT job of colouring those jellyfish! She would be proud LOL I always enjoy your videos and am so glad I watched you make this shaker card which is awesome. I love the way you layered the porthole. As always, thank you for inspiring me 😃

  29. I always love the “look” of your coloring with Prisma pencils. Your jellyfish card is awesome! I am also a fan of CAS and your chicken card is so cute too!

  30. Totally cracking up! When my daughters (now in their 20’s) were tiny, they wanted a chicken from the local farmers marker. I relented and well – it grew! Turns out – it was a rooster! Oh the laughs we have had over me saying this exact thing – what the cluck! LOL! Your cards are just darling! I love the use of the white space – it really gives the images a gorgeous focal point! Bravo! Thanks for the trip down memory lane, too 🙂 TFS!

  31. Such fun ! Sandy blew me away with her colouring so I totally see the influence from her piece, think she would find this fun too. Your colouring is awesome with those crayons. Love the other card, I have a mug that would go with your design, it reads ” Some days I have to say cluck it & walk away ! ” with a shadow of a rooster on the other side x

  32. I think your coloring is so wonderful. I love the little jellyfish. Your chicken card made me laugh!! Such a funny sentiment!

  33. I love your coloring always and you didn’t disappoint. Those hens crack me up!! Oops, a pun!! But those jellyfish are beautiful!! I love how they are colored. Gorgeous!!

  34. The chicken card is so perfect, CAS but still so eye catching! Your coloring of the jellyfish is really really wonderful! Such a great reminder of needing to try the technique of colored pencils on darker cardstock.

  41. Fantastic shaker card! I love your coloring. Sandy’s colors were a great inspiration.

  42. What the cluck is hilarious! Love it and I am not a chicken fan but I am becoming one-especially after seeing your eggspecting card! Love the shaker bits in the porthole too. I did not catch it the first time when you said you picked it up to look thru the bottom and they spilt all over your desk. That is something I would have done too! Great release and wonderful cards! 🐔🐓🥚

  43. Those jellyfish are out of this world!!! Love how you colored those. The chickens are just too darn funny. What a great design.
