Altenew October 2019 Stencil / Washi Blog Hop & Giveaway + Video!

Today I have a video sharing an easy multicoloured stencil technique! It’s time for another fab release from Altenew and we are hopping along to celebrate so you should have arrived here from VICKY’s amazing Blog!

Today Altenew are releasing new Stencils and Washi Tapes.  I had an idea that I just couldn’t get out of my head, I had to try and create a multicoloured background using the Honeycomb Stencil.

I thought it was a mad idea and would have taken an age, but……….   I worked out a quick and easy work around which I share with you in the video linked below.

Altenew - Honeycomb Stencil - Summer Swirls - Tall Alpha - Therese Calvird (card video) 1 copy

It’s kinda a pastel theme today (not my usual ‘go to’) but it suited my Summer Swirl ice cream perfectly.

My sentiment was stamped from the Circled Sentiment’s set and die cut with my ‘new fave’ the Tall Alpha dies…   ssssh, don’t tell the Bold Alphabet Dies about my new love.

  1. The black is what I would have chosen as well. I think it made it pop. Beautiful and easy. I’m always looking for ideas for my ice cream cone stamp set. Thanks

  2. Totally loving this new release. I absolutely love what you’ve done with them too. Such stunning creations. Thank you for the wonderful inspiration. Happy crafting x

  3. Very sweet indeed. I can understand your new alphabet love. You always give new takes on using products, and I learn a lot. The black sentiment looks sharp and clean.

  4. Gorgeous card Therese. The black circle sentiment just sets it off. Gives it just the right amount of punch to draw the eye to the centre of the card. Love it! Favourite ice cream Salted Caramel, followed closely by Clotted Cream, but to be absolutely honest, I usually have a scoop of each🍦❤️

  5. Love the background on this sweet card and I think the black is the perfect choice for the contrast!

  6. What a delicious looking card!! I love the soft colors you used on the honeycomb stencil. I can see using that stencil with a few bees. But I love that ice cream cone you decided on, it’s fabulous and lusicious looking!!

  7. I love your card! The soft colors make the ice cream look so delicious- great coloring! I liked all three colors of sentiments- hard to choose.

  8. Sweet indeed! Love the colors and appreciate all your helpful technique tips. I think the black sentiment circle is perfect to set off the card’s pastel color theme.

  9. I follow you on YouTube, Therese, & have for a long time. I hardly ever comment on anyone that I follow, but I am so enchanted with your work & love all of your creations that I decided I should let you know! You have a great eye for design, color & structure. I live in the U.S.A. in the state of Indiana. I enjoy your videos of Australia too. Probably the only way I’ll ever see it although I am watching The Magical Land of OZ on PBS. Beautiful country & creatures! Thank you for all of your lovely creations. I enjoy watching them immensely. BTW, I would have used the pink!

    1. Hi Patricia, the pink was the definite winner here, it makes me a little sad for the b & w, but it’ll be back for another design lol. Thank you for your lovely comments and for following my journey, and when there are a few more hours in the day I hope to share some more footage of Australia… can you just let my husband know that I’m needed here and shouldn’t have to go to work as it interferes with card creating…. Hope you have the most wonderful weekend, Crafty hugs, Therese

  10. Such a sweet card Therese. No wasted post it notes in this video! Lol I loved the black and white sentiment. Another fabulous release from Altenew.
Thank you so much for sharing.

  11. So pretty with all those pastels, Therese! I’m loving the skinny alphas, too…putting them on my wishlist right now 🙂
    Thanks for another great video!!!

  12. So cute and fun just as you created it!! But I might have had to try the pink with a couple layers of clear embossing powder……just for fun😊

  13. The multi coloured honeycomb background is perfect for the ice cream cone. Great card. I also love the tall alpha set. I like all three options for the greeting.

  14. A great card idea and I think I prefer the black as it really puts a pop to the you are saying.

  15. I really haven’t been into honeycombs but I think you may have converted me. I love the way your used this stencil and all the soft pastels. Thanks for showing us how to make a reusable mask to help this project go faster. Such a simple idea but I’m not sure I’d have thought of it. As to the sentiment, I probably would have gone with the pink but I like the nice contrast you got with the black.

  16. What an adorable card, Therese. I love the honeycomb and think the pastels are a lovely change. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent.

  17. I really liked what you did with this stencil. It has made me think seriously about adding it to my stash. Great work!👏❤️

  18. NOW I have a great idea for my cone! I would have chosen the dark grey. I think it would still make the sentiment pop. The idea of masking the honeycomb is brilliant! I have a honeycomb stencil and now I have the perfect alternative way to use it. Thanks for all you share.

  19. Hi Therese! Wow, you might not be a good blender (or so you say) but the detail you put into colouring the cone on your ice-cream was amazing. LOVED the multi-coloured honeycomb and just everything about the card. LOVE this release – those floral washi’s are amazing and so beautiful and the stencils are too. Thanks so much for sharing. Will go over to your blog to see what else you’ve created.

  20. Your card is absolutely yummy, Therese! I just happen to have chocolate almond ice cream on hand & I’m suddenly in the mood for some. Thank you!! 🙂

  21. as usual you have done fabulously in this card- I enjoyed watching your video yesterday- I know I have to get this stencil

  22. Your cone looks so realistic. Great colouring. I would have chosen the black for the boldness, the pink looked good too.

  23. WOW This is one superb card Therese. Your background in the soft pastels is so pretty and love your icecream. Like the black circle as it really pops against the other colours.

  24. This is so ‘crafty’, and the video is instructional and enjoyable to watch. Thanks for sharing your great ideas!

  25. Therese this card is so “SWEET” and adorable. I agree with you the pink cherry is the best for this card.

  26. Scrumptious, Therese … both that fabulous pastel graphic backround and that yummy ice cream cone! The black sentiment circle looks great … though like you, I would have been mighty tempted by the pink one! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  27. Your card is gorgeous. I love the soft colors and the honeycomb design, and the masking technique is genius! I think the black sentiment is perfect, although I agree that the pink and gray are beautiful on this card too.

  28. This is such a fun and fabulous card Therese! Love the fresh and clean way you added color to the background using the Honey Comb stencil it truly makes the focal point pop! Great coloring of the ice cream too!

    1. BTW I would have used the pink circle one for a female recipient and the gray for a male recipient. But LOVE the black contrasting against the pastels! thanks for the inspiration Therese!

  29. I love the way you used the honey comb shaped stencil the colors you used transformed it completely and shows the versatility the stencil has. Love the black and white sentiment it really pops! thank you.

  30. Literally a Sweet card. The background is lovely and your coloring is superb. I liked the pink sentiment but the black is great too. Thanks for the video!

  31. This ice cream loves good enough to eat. The the honeycomb stencil and can’t wait to try it. I have lots of ideas for its use.
