Altenew Build-A-Flower: Triumph Tulip Release Blog Hop & Giveaway + Video!

And it just gets better and better!  The new Build-A-Flower: Triumph Tulip is adorbs and we are hopping along to celebrate the release so you should have arrived here from the JAYCEE’s amazing Blog!

I felt like making a watercolour’y mess today and thought I would try my hand at stamping with Watercolor Brush Markers again.  You can see my first attempt HERE.

I made a waercolour Honeycomb Stencil background using the Altenew Watercolor Pan Set.  It’s wonderful how all the colours match so well….

then it came time to stamp out my flowers and leaves and you can watch this easy technique in the video linked below.

I already had a die cut Mega Hello ready to go and I used a sub sentiment from the Simply the Best Stamp Set.  A final touch was to add some enamel dots.

100 thoughts on “Altenew Build-A-Flower: Triumph Tulip Release Blog Hop & Giveaway + Video!

  1. This is a beautiful set of flowers ( my favorite flower). I love the watercolor design, because it’s a messy look. I’m not good at the detailed watercolor look, lol. Please know that we are all thinking and prayer for all the people of Australia.

  2. Beautiful card Therese. It has a really “fresh” Spring look. Love the background. I need to try that technique. You always come up with something new. Thank you.
Wish I could send you some of the rain that we’ve been having. Stay safe and take care ❤️

  3. Love your choice of colors and that you used watercolors. I need to give that technique a try. Thank you for the inspiration.

  4. I don’t have the markers, sadly. But I can see me giving this a go with the Altenew pan set – absolutely GORGEOUS!! Thanks so much for sharing your wondrous talent with us, Therese! xx

  5. What inspiration! I would never have thought to use black on a flower but I will try it now. I am also excited to try watercoloring on stamps. THat is a lovely card!

  6. Inspiring video for using watercolours to give unique effects. The card is beautiful. I’m going to try that stencil idea as it makes such an interesting background.

  7. I guess I could just copy and paste the comment that I usually leave for your gorgeous work! You truly amaze me every time you create. I just love this technique, Therese! You are so so talented and inspiring. Thanks fir sharing your work!!

  8. Hi Therese. A very happy 2020 to you and your family. Hope you’re not caught up in the horrendous fires sweeping almost right around Australia at the moment. Your card is beautiful, as always – the Altenew build-a-flower is, as always another stunner. I’m hoping that they make the stamp sets in mini-cubes as well as the large stamp pads due to storage, but it’s fabulous that they sort out the colour combinations for us – love it. I’ve still not mastered water colouring, but will keep trying this year. Love your work. Stay safe and thanks for sharing.

  9. Watercolor mess? No! Watercolor amazing and beautiful! Tulips are one of my very favorite – love this set!

  10. Good morning Therese
I just loved how you watercoloured the tulips.
It’s a beautiful card and everything just flows together,
The large script hello die just really sets the whole card off.
It adds negative space and makes the tulips really shine.
    Hugs and cheers
    Lisa

  11. Wow! So gorgeous! I love the water coloring you did on this one! Thanks for the video! I have those watercolor brushes so now I have to try this!

  12. Beautiful! I always enjoy your videos and learn something too!
I hope you stay safe and those horrible fires get controlled.

  13. I’ve admired every card in the blog so far…YOURS is my new favorite! Makes me want to stop what I’m doing and create some cards….after ordering the TT stamp set!

  14. Beautiful watercolor technique on these gorgeous BAF Tulip blooms, love the black detail layer and the soft watery honeycomb background.

  15. Theresa, your color combo is stunning!!! I love that you are never afraid of being BOLD in your designs.

  16. Thinking of all of you in Australia and hoping that you are safe and the fires can be controlled soon. It hurts to watch the news coverage! I think your card is my favorite thus far…love the background and the beautiful tulips you created, plus the design is gorgeous!

  17. The video explained this process very well. Like the black layer to finish off the image.

  18. Love the watercolored tulips! Really like how you tucked the tulips in around the hello die cut. Very nice!
So glad that your family is okay.

  19. Really lovely… that background is so wonderful. I love tulips they are our first sign of Spring. Always enjoy your videos so much. Glad to know you are safe but it is so hard to see that burning on the news. Seen it in movies and this is so much worse. Stay safe and creative. Our prayers are with Australia.

  20. Therese, first off I hope that you and family are safe. The fires are hard to see and I hope that they can get it under control quickly. When we were in CA, there were a lot of wildfires in our area and luckily we were always out of harms way, but the ash falling down and the burned sights around town were hard to stomach.
I love the colors of your tulips! They are so pretty and remind me a bit of a wildfire with the orange hues in it. Inspiration comes from many places I suppose, not that you used the fire for yours. I like the soft watercolors and am looking forward to your video! I like to watch those later when I am working out on the rower!
Cheers and thanks again for the great inspiration!

    1. These fires are truly devastating and we are feeling very lucky that they are not here, though we had some nearby before Chrismtas but we were only smoke affected. It’s ging to be a long slow rebuild, it’s the wildlife that truly breaks my heart as they are so helpless, I can’t watch the images on TV. Thanks so much for thinking of us, Hugs Tx

  21. Sending prayers for the fires in Australia, stay safe! Thanks so much for sharing this gorgeous stamp set, your card is fabulous!

  22. Oh Therese!!! That technique with the watercolor brush pens! I am trying that tonight! Thank you so much for always taking the time to make us a video — they are so helpful (and shareable!)

  23. Beautiful card! Fun technique. I did something similar after watching Lilith and Lydia a couple of weeks ago. I just need to make cards from them.

  24. When you stamped the first layer with the water colors it looked like a hot mess. So amazing to see the final result. I look forward to giving this technique a try.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, your family, and all of Australia. It’s painful to watch the fires burning on the news every night. How much worse if must be for you. Take care and stay safe.

  25. So different, yet so beautiful. I’ll have to give your technique a try, if and when I can get into my craft room (renovations are coming)! Thanks for giving me some ideas 🙂

  26. Sending thoughts and prayers to all of Australia.
I love the texture you got and you used orange a color I am learning to love.

  27. Wonderful inspiration – I love that this stamp set has such crisp layered detail – but with this card, you showed how to use it differently – I love that soft, blurred watercolour look – gorgeous washes blending of colour. It makes me think of Spring tulips in the rain. I love it and absolutely want to try this myself too – thanks for the inspiration!

  28. Your card is absolutely gorgeous. When I think of layering stamps I think of coordinating ink colors, not watercolors. Thanks so much for showing the watercolor technique. I love it and will be trying it soon.

  29. I really enjoy the black on the flowers. And the tulips fit in so well around the mega hello die. Just beautiful!

  30. I always love your color combinations. I have never try this technique which I will definitely do.
    Love your giggles:)
    Isamar
