2 Easy ‘Watercolour Look’ Ink Smooshed Floral Cards + Video!

Alright if you hadn’t noticed I am on a Watercolour Kick right now….  and here is the absolute easiest way you can get a watercolour look without the fuss!  But first, I wanted to let you know about my Take 2 With Therese series at Altenew and if you haven’t seen these videos before you can check them out HERE.

This is part of a Stamp Focus for Altenew and it’s time for another ‘Inked’ flower!  This one is the Inked Lotus and all of these beauties lean toward that watercolour look in my humble opinion.

Ink smooshing is an easy and fun technique and if you haven’t tried it yet what are you waiting for lol.
Altenew - Inked Lotus - Blossom Wreath - Take 2 With Therese (card video) 1I adore how these colours mixed together….  and very little time spent waiting for ‘paint to dry’ either.

  1. You are so right. That water color smooshing is just perfect with those water lilies!
    Gotta do it.

  2. Therese, I truly love all you inspire us to try but I would agree with you that the first card was a little off. Like you said it is too much. But the 2nd well I will be attempting that. Wishing you a beautiful, blessed and healthy day.

  3. Beautiful. I like your final decision on card one and how you rescued the remainder of the first design into another wonderful card. Excellent technique and superb tutorial. Well done.

  4. I wasn’t sure what it was going to look like when I saw all the smooshing but you must have had it planned out, Therese, because the end results is stunning. Even as a single flower with the others left plain, your card is terrific.

    1. Hi Bobby, initially I had a rough idea where I thought I wanted to have my flowers but in the end I turned the panel around and cut it down, as it went better with the way the colours had settled onto the paper. Thanks so much, hope you are staying safe and finding some crafty time. Hugs Therese x

  5. I think both cards are really beautiful and the colours are just spot on. Always love what you do.

  6. Absolutely phenomenal … and I hadn’t given it a second look – until today!!
I’m dying over here waiting for EH to get the releases!! xx

  7. I love your first card! It was fun watching you do this technique. My favorite watercolor look is to ink up my stamp and then spray it with water and then stamp to paper. And Voila! A watercolored flower! Thanks for another great video!

  8. I think you made the right choice with the first card. If you hadn’t, you wouldn’t have the second card. These bold inked flowers look amazing with this technique and those beautiful colours.

  9. Easy the technique may be but your colour blending is just gorgeous.
Loved both the cards and I really liked the make good card.
I didn’t mind the stamped off design you started with but your finished two cards were so elegant.
These sketchy floral stamps are just amazing. On my wish list! I think you’re enabling my flower stamp addiction.
    Hoping you’re keeping well.
    Cheers
    Lisa

  10. I love your cards you made. It was awesome how you fixed the first card with the incomplete stamped flower. Great Smooshing with dye ink.

  11. I found the results stunning. Thanks for reminding me of this technique. I am inspired.

  12. Not sure why you didn’t like the first card, I thought it was beautiful. But then i love all your cards. Thanks for sharing all you do.

  13. What a gorgeous, artsy, unstructured look on both cards, Therese … the smooshing works so well with the sketchy style! Like you, I prefer the clean white frame on your first card … it allows the panel to shine! Great way to use the already stamped card … the single coloured bloom really pops against the line art! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  14. Definitely like the white frame which doesn’t take the viewers eye away from the star, your smooshed panel. You are a genius in correcting unplanned events. Tried smooshing didn’t have vellum; but had wax paper in kitchen – worked pretty well. Thanks!

  15. These are both so beautiful. I saw the first card on Pinterest and went on the hunt to find this post. Thank you for the video and the tips you shared. I would have tossed that second card, and I love what you did to save it. Both cards are wonderful.

  16. Your ink smooshing is smashing – lol! Your captured such a depth and variation of colors – so dramatic! Wonderful idea to use the left overs for another flower too!
