Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Tulip Release Blog Hop & Giveaway + Video!

Have you got any design paper that needs some love…  Or am I the only one who hoards my papers?  I want to change that and this new Craft-A-Flower: Tulip from Altenew gave me the opportunity to create ‘watercolour’ look without the watercolours. We are hopping along for this release so you should have arrived here from JAYCEE’s fabulous Blog!

I chose to layer the Tulip with the Enchanting Washes Paper Pack, which is perfect for giving a ‘faux’ watercolour look.

Altenew - Craft-A-Flower - Tulip - Fancy Greetings - Rose Bouqet Stencil - Ink Blending Brush - Enchanting Washes Paper Pack 1 copyI had the urge to add lots of leaves and used the Ink Blending Tool and the Rose Bouquet Stencil to add these on the background.

  1. No, Therese, you’re not the only one. I have to have everything I love, then it gets put away and I forget I have it. I have so much pretty paper and card and I really must use it as I truly have no more room to store anything. Love your card. The stencilled leaves in the background are a great idea and blends so well with the Craft A Flower Tulip.

  2. Thanks for the video showing us how to put these tulips together! It was really helpful. Like that you stenciled in more greens. Makes it look like the tulips are growing in the garden. Thanks for sharing your beautiful card!

  3. Did you hear my squeal around the globe, Therese??? I may not be able to wait to make these my own! LOve these colours you’ve used today… off to watch! xx

  13. Wish I had the Enchanting Washes Paper pack as I LOVE the look you achieved on the tulips. Beautiful card Therese! And, no, you are not the only one who hoards paper. lol

  14. What a beautiful and intricate card. Thanks for the video. It helps learn more about layering.

  15. Love your amazing tulip colors. The CAF Tulip is so gorgeous. Enjoyed the video, too, thanks.

  16. Such a great idea to use that paper that looked watercolored. I would have never thought that would work. But it did. Absolutely beautiful Therese.

  17. How creative to use the leaf stamps to add depth to the layered flowers! Love the papers you used to create your flowers, too. A great tip I would not have thought of myself. Thanks for sharing!

  18. So thankful to see your card and also the helpful video! Great design and the extra stamped leaves make it feel lush!

  19. Your card is so gorgeous. I love the background you used to spotlight the tulips. And the different colors used were brilliant.

  20. This is terrific! I liked the watercolor look you achieved with your paper and stamping the leaves onto your card base really gave it so much depth!

  21. I love the tulips cut out of the watercolor patterned paper- so much texture! Beautiful card!

  22. What a wonderful way to color those tulips with Designer paper. Great video! Thanks!

  23. I am SO a paper hoarder. I’m getting better. Especially during this time of isolating. Cards are such a loving and personal way to reach out to family and friends who are also staying at home. Love your card. I have some papers very similar to these. Time to dig them out and get ready for my dies to arrive!!

  24. Tulips are one of my favorite flowers and I love this layered die! So very pretty.

  25. Hi. I absolutely love anything flowers and this tulip is gorgeous. I’m retired now so sadly I will admire from afar. Such beautiful inspiration

  26. This is my favorite card on the hop! Maybe because you mixed up the paper options a bit, or maybe because I love the fancy greetings font as much as you do. Either way…BRAVO!

  27. I like the bright flowers against the jungle of foliage!! So lush and pretty.

  28. So enjoyed joining you in your craft room! Love watching your process, especially because using anything new has a bit of a learning curve. I also liked your additional leaves made with the stencil.

  29. I was trying to figure out how you got such lovely colors with your tulips – and then I watched the video. I’m always looking for ways to incorporate my patterned paper stash into my card making a bit more – this is just beautiful! I also loved your stenciled leaves filling in the background. A truly gorgeous card, Therese!

  30. My, my, my! I think that this is my favourite card of the hop.
Love the creative place you’re in.
Great example of how to make this flower die really shine.
    Cheers
    Lisas

  31. The use of the design paper makes these flowers so unique. I love the extra stencilling too. Great card.

  32. Loved the watercolour paper you have used for your tulips. They look amazing. So happy to see that I am not the only person to want to make the best use of my papers when positioning dies and not waste paper!

  33. These tulips look sooo pretty….loved your idea of using design paper for them..much easier than colouring in every layer..

  34. Love the washi look of the tulips. Great idea to layer stenciled/stamped leaves behind the main image! I like the “plain and simple” look but struggle with all that white paper. Yesterday I made several cards where I stenciled behind an Altenew floral image and really liked the look. Thanks for more usable ideas.

  35. I really like your use of the stencil as background. I absolutely love your choice of papers as inspiration for me as I do love the look of watercolor but lack the talent. Thank you for the variation!

  36. Your cards are beautiful – this may be my favorite of all the flower releases!! Thank you for the video showing us how easily the tulips go together.

  37. I love the card, but I especially appreciate the video on how you decided which watercolor wash papers to die cut. I’ve gotta try this!

  38. Your card is lovely, and that paper is so pretty. Thank you for the video and for keeping it in real time, to make it easier to follow. Thank you for sharing.

  39. Wowzers!! I love all of the depth in this card, looks just like a painting! Your work is always so inspiring, thank you for sharing!

  40. Thank you for the real time instructions. I love the color combinations you ended up with and how nicely they show up against all the added greenery. Really enjoyed your happy, upbeat voiceover.

  41. Just like Mother Nature’s creations with the variance in colors. A stroke of genius to use the papers with swirls of colors, which makes it so much more realistic. Painting without paint. Love your videos with such detail both in narrative and pictures that make it much easier to create using the dies after listening to your tutorial. Love you leave in any “mistakes” and show us how to rectify these. But the best part is your laugh because you make us smile and not take it too seriously but remember to have fun! Thanks!

  42. WOWza! Wonderful CAF release and the tulip is perfect! Great addition to the collection! Gorgeous card(s)!

  43. Your bouquet is fabulous.
Love the mix of colors in
    flowers and the shading.
    Wonderful card. thanks for
    sharing

  44. Beautiful. The whole card is devine,… but that sentiment is an absolutely beautiful font! Love the u swirl. The tulips are stunning and the leaves were the perfect addition!

  45. What a gorgeous card! Using that paper is a genius idea, and that paper pad is beautiful. I love Altenew’s layering die sets, but I drive myself crazy trying to come up with different shades of paper in the same color family. The gradient card stock packs are on my wish list, and now I’ve added that Enchanting Washes pack!

  46. Beautiful card! I love the colors from the paper pack that you used. Lovely combinations.

  47. Beautiful card, I love the water color designer papers for these gorgeous die cuts! Thanks for another awesome video tutorial.

  48. This is beautiful!! I love how you added extra leaves in the background. I actually have a “watercolor” paper pad that would be perfect for this also! What a great idea!

  49. Beautiful. I like the faux watercolor look you achieved. I am trying not to hoard my paper.

  50. Simply lovely,Therese … the variations in colour add such wonderful depth to this gorgeous arrangement of tulips … and the background stencilling makes it positively lush! Fabulous! Hugs, Anita 🙂
