Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Carnations Release Blog Hop & Giveaway!

Watercolours? I used 2 types for this one layer card! And you can see how in my video linked below. But first…

Welcome back, it’s time for another Paint-A-Flower release from Altenew and this one is the beautiful Carnations Stamp Set. Did you arrive here from TENIA’s fabulous Blog? if you did, then you are in the right place!

I began my card today by stamping the flowers using Obsidian ink onto some Watercolor Paper Pad cardstock.

Then I used both the Autumn Festival Watercolor Brush Markers and the Artist’s watercolors to add colour!

Today’s sentiment comes from the Beauty Within Stamp Set and I also added a few Satin Gold Sequins…. just because.

    1. The watercolor brush markers from Altenew have become my ‘go to’ to add watercolour, they are so easy and the colours are all the Altenew ones that I love lol. My other watercolour brush markers are hardly ever touched now….

  1. I love the look of the color mix and the frame. Will definately watch the video. I feel this is another must have PAF set.

  2. Absolutely beautiful! Love how you make it look so easy and effortless to watercolor and create such beautiful pieces. Inspiring to those of us just learning to watercolor.

  3. Love your fall color carnations!! Your water coloring is gorgeous and I do like the background you painted in. I’d have been a nervous wreck painting around those beautiful flowers. But you made it all look so effortless. TFS your artistic and tutorial talents.

  4. The colors in those markers are gorgeous! I am really loving this stamp set. The flowers are so realistic and the sentiments are stunning! Thank you so much for the tutorial! Love your videos!!!!

  5. I absolutely adore your fall carnations. Thanks for the wonderful video showing your process. I think I’ll have to add those Autumn Festival markers to my wish list too!

  6. I always enjoy your videos, and this one was no exception! I remember putting white carnations in food coloring mixed with water, and it would suck up that color and we would have bright blue or other unique colored carnations! Your method was quicker and just as fun!!! Fun to watch your making process, and the background is very pretty. This is a fantastic stamp set! Thanks for sharing!

  7. I loved watching your video to see your creative talents at work. You are amazing and I would love to see more videos. This is my first time here and I am totally impressed with your artwork. This is a stunning card!

    1. Welcome Karen, it’s so very nice to have you here, thank you for your lovely comments and do I hope you take some time to check out some of my other videos… there are a few! You may need a coffee, or if you prefer… a wine lol.

  8. Great card, no complaints from me. The colors are fall, and celebrated in these colors for the opening of the Fall Season. Always enjoy your videos. Great set and I cannot wait for my set to arrive.

  9. Okay…I have to laugh because recently I told myself I have enough flower stamps and don’t NEED anything else (for awhile, at least) and then I see what YOU did with this lovely carnation set (one of my favorite “bouquet” flowers) and “fell in love!”. Your colouring is gorgeous, too! THANKS, THERESE! 😀

  10. This is absolutely gorgeous! You commented you were having issues with your colors blending, but you could have fooled me, they look amazing! I also love the rectangular background you added to the card, it’s the perfect addition and makes the flowers pop! This is just perfection, thank you for the inspiration, so lovely!

  11. I have enjoyed the cards you’ve made in the past, and this one is just as polished and lovely. You have “sold” a lot of products to me, via your cards, Therese!

  12. Therese you are amazing and this card is fabulous. The colours are different but love the finished look and especially the background as has a great watercolour look.

  13. Maybe not realistic colours but very eye-catching,Therese! Life would be boring if everything was always true to life. Love the idea of the border colour. I must try that one. I often feel the background area is too large!!! Thanks for the great inspiration! Take care! 🙂

  14. I LOVE this card. This layout – with the painted background, etc — would work with so many Altenew stamps. I can’t wait to try this exact one when my PAF arrives!

  15. I must admit I am in awe of your painting prowess, imaginative use of color, passion for paper crafting and scope of painting knowledge, which is reflected in your makes and videos. In this make, find enjoyable your subtle shifts in color throughout the design not to mention those lovely colors chosen from the Autumn Festival Set. Oh my, the more I view your works, the more I find my wish list growing. Just have to add the PAF Carnation and the water colors.

You make it seem so easy and show us that making mistakes or changing your mind is part of the process, which is to be enjoyed. And enjoying your video tutorials and makes I certainly do. (If I could request anything, it would be more of those lovely videos, which entertain, inform, and make me laugh happily at times!)

  16. Ok, you amazing with your little details, the frame behind your flowers, now how neat is that! I didn’t see it on any other beautifully painted project. Love your inspiration.

  17. I am just so in love with this card!! When I saw you create it on the video…oh so beautiful &bi MUST try to recreate it and then make a few more with different colors!!

  18. I do love the color of your carnations; very different and fall looking. Thank you for sharing the video.

  19. Simply beautiful, Therese … there’s a lovely organic feel to your colouring in these gorgeous carnations (yep, seen some that are very similar IRL … kind of yellow-y-dark-coral) … what a huge difference the background panel makes to them … helps to bring wonderfully them to life! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  20. Hi Therese, always love your cards and videos. Your card is gorgeous as usual. Thanks for sharing.

  21. That card is gorgeous! I love that background, and I love those beautiful carnations. Altenew’s watercolor brush markers have become my favorite coloring medium, and I thought I had all the sets I needed. However, it seems I was wrong — the colors in the Autumn Festival set are wonderful.

  22. Watched your video and you made it look so easy! The colors you used aren’t traditional carnation colors but you made such a beautiful fall card, just love it!

  23. Beautiful water colored carnations, I love the autumn colors and the loose rectangle background in soft green is lovely.

  24. Stunning watercolor card, I like the white edge bordering the green watercolor background. Plus nice touch with flowers extending out over the white border. Very elegant looking.

  25. Yes, prettily IS a word. And I agree that I have never seen carnations this color – poor me! They’re breathtaking!!! (Another commenter says that she HAS seen ones this color or very close – lucky lady!) Thank you for taking the time and trouble to make a video. It helps so much. I love the composition, color choices and visual impact of your card! Thanks again and heaps of blessings on you this and every single day.

  26. Hi, Therese – I am going to try a third time to leave you this message. I hope this works.
    a) Thank you for taking the time and trouble to make us a video. It was terrific!
    b) Yes: ‘prettily’ is a word.
    c) I agree w/ you that I have never seen carnations this color. Pity me — Ah, but now I HAVE – yours! They are gorgeous!
    d) I love your color choices and composition. The visual impact is very strong. Breathtakingly beautiful!

    1. Hi Lori, Yay! Thank you for persevering, 2 of your 3 comments came through but needed my approval before they could be seen. My understanding is that now that you have left a comment it should automatically approve from now on. Apparently WordPress can be a bit fickle if you don’t have an account, but that is computery stuff which I have very little knowledge of. I feel like it’s a mountain I can never climb but it’s worth the journey to meet people like you who love papercrafting as much as I. Thanks for your lovely comments, you have made my day! Crafty hugs, Therese

  27. They saved the best for last! Your watercoloring is as beautiful as it is inspiring. Great way to finish up the blog hop.
