How to Colour a BIG Fun Pencil Bubble with a Platypus + Video!

Have you ever coloured a ‘bubble’? Who would have thought it would be so hard lol!

So I have had this idea in my head for quite a while but finally got to put pencil to paper yesterday. Don’t get me wrong, I think for a first attempt it is not ‘bad’ but I know I can do better. I just had it pictured a little ‘lighter’ and more airy….. but as you know I love my bright colours and I got a little out of control!

I used Prismacolor Pencils to create my bubble, and I added the platypus is from the You’re Weird stamp set from Uniquely Creative.

I also used the Featured Sentiments Die Set with my sentiment (this is seriously now a ‘go to’ for me).

mmm what do you think? Will you try colouring a ‘bubble’? Let me know in the comments below. I hope you are having a fabulous week, hugs

  1. Definitely looks like a bubble – a beautiful bubble. I like this Platypus image too. Great card and video. It is always lovely watching you colour.

  2. I probably won’t try it, Therese, but that doesn’t stop me from loving your bubble!! There is another crafter that does bubbles – wish I could remember who it is!

  3. This is amazing! And it’s a bubble for sure. I’d like to try to colour a bubble. Love that platypus too!

  4. Therese, you are a rock star! Wow, this is fabulous! Feliz Navidad to you and yours! 🎄⛄🎅🎄⛄🎅

  5. You nailed it. Love the sentiment. Definitely think this stamp set needs to find a home with me. So enjoy your videos and sense of humor

  6. What a realistic bubble and perfect colors. Love the little platypus. I have never seen one up close. I enjoy my Prismacolor Pencils too.

  7. I like your bubble – think it looks realistic. Lucky girl having the whole set of Prismacolour pencils. I have a few (about 50) and love them.

    1. I think my initial set was the 72 (which was more than enough) I could do everything I needed to and more with these colours. And I was able to replace the colours by open stock when I needed as well as add a couple of extra colours (wink). But this was a very expensive way to this in Australia and after about 10+ years I needed to replace quite a few colours and I got a fabulous deal on Amazon and the cost difference wasn’t much with what I needed to replace per pencil but i also got to have all the other colours that I ‘didn’t have’… and obviously didn’t need, except for that ‘violet’ colour today lol. I feel very lucky to have them too and now just need a few more hours in every day to colour! I am so happy to hear that you love your pencils too. Hope you have a wonderful and crafty weekend, Hugs Tx

  10. This could not have been your first go round coloring a bubble!!! It’s so nicely done! The first time I saw one of these I loved the look but have never tried doing one. Afraid to fail I guess. I need to squash that and give it a try. You made it look easy but I’m sure it’s not. Thanks for sharing it with us Therese!

    1. It’s a game changer when it comes to blending, it does tend to ‘remove’ a little of the colour though so sometimes I have to come in and add more layers, but I find the layers help add depth and dimension. Thanks so much Bobby!

  11. Holy Moly, that is one amazing bubble!!! I don’t think I could manage that… ever. Hahaha. Beautifully done.

  12. Sorry for the delay in leaving craft love for your bubble, been snowed under, excuse pun, making Xmas cards, ten more & I’m done. Do like your bubble very much, I will accept the challenge to try making one, or several attemps, but it will no doubt be in new year. Love watching your videos, you have a fab sense of humour & a great talent, I always learn from you. Merry Christmas x

    1. Good luck in your ‘bubble’ journey Andrea lol, hope you have fun colouring! And speaking of journey’s, Congrats on having your Christmas cards nearly done, wishing you the most happiest of Holiday Seasons, Hugs Tx

  13. Absolutely fabulous! Certainly looks like a bubble. I think you know I’m not likely to colour a bubble any time soon 😉

I think I’ll have to pin the video just in case though!

  14. I love the idea of a bubble and this is a super stamp set, Therese! It certainly isn’t a quick and easy element to create! Thank so much for the video and inspiration!! Now to try it for myself!! LOL!! Hugs 🙂
