Altenew Ultimate Watercolor Lovers Blog Hop + Giveaway + Video!

WHAT? No stamping or masking and I still have a bouquet!!

Yes that’s right, Altenew have released a Watercoloring Coloring Book and some beautiful brushes so all the hard work is done, so you can just sit down and colour! And of course we are celebrating with a hop so you should have arrived here from ERUM’s fabulous Blog.

I adored painting this beautiful image with the Artists’ Watercolors, the cardstock is lovely and ‘thick’ and it’s 50% Cotton Cold Pressed!

I also added some ink splatters to my wash background (much to my husband’s dismay).

As well as a sentiment from the Crystal Frames Set die cut with a Featured Sentiments Die.

You can see my video or Watch it in HD at YouTube.

  1. Wow! You watercolored this image beautifully- the splatters look gorgeous! I love the blue background!

  2. Beautiful card. Love this concept and can’t wait for the book and brushes to be available here. Thank you Therese, off to watch the video ❤️

  3. The splatters are wonderful as is your card. My husband thinks I ruin a card when I “stick” a sentiment on the card panel.

    1. Splatters make me happy! Always enjoy watching you paint and this new product looks fun. Perfect for camping.

  4. I love the splatters. I always forget to do them at the end of the process. Gorgeous watercoloring. It’s great that they have come out with this coloring book.

  5. It’s not ruined. I think the splatter looks like rain or snow. I am also glad you took the time to show the products themselves in your video. The previous stops on the hop only had the finished products. Even the Altenew shopping site didn’t really show the book itself, just the images.

  6. I am SO GLAD that I watched your video. I appreciate you taking the time to show us. I learned so much…especially the layering. My watercoloring is so flat, but your tips helped me so much. I like how you added water to the spot you would be coloring, and then coloring just that spot. I seriously learned so much, and I think that I will actually remember just about everything and use what I learned when I watercolor. I am so excited to get into my craft room now!! I am going to try my watercolor pencils (I don’t have the Altenew woodless type, but will try what I have) to add shading at the end. You are a genius!!!

  7. Love the illustrations! Thanks for the tips and video Therese, always appreciated! I need those brushes in my life! My watercolor loving heart is dancing! 💕

  8. I love the splatter look! It is something I am trying to teach myself and I don’t want to ruin a perfectly good piece if the splatter is bad! I appreciate the video and tips.

  9. Beautiful, as always, Therese! I don’t agree with your DH, the splatters did not ruin it, although I thought it was beautiful without the splatters, too! Thanks for using both the water brush and the regular brush.

  10. I always love your watercoloring and YES, I like the splatter. Just wish I would be brave and go for it and splatter on my work as well. I think this is a great bundle set and the freebie gift is awesome. Great video and oh so helpful in watching you color.

  11. Love the video tutorial! So fun to see your process and technique! The colors you chose for the flower is incredible!

  12. So Love the colors on this… Oranges are my favorite. I will have to try to recreate something like this. Such an inspiration.

  13. Dear Therese The soft colours have added the elegant touch to the card. Love your coloring and I am learming to color just taking baby steps. Stay safe and blessed

  14. Stunning card as always Therese! Love the colours you chose.
Thank you so much for sharing with us.
    Keep well

  15. Thanks for always doing videos, Therese you can’t imagine how much I appreciate your time. The card is beautiful and I loved watching you paint it. I feel like I can now make a similar card.

  16. Gorgeous card Therese! Love the colours you used, and those ‘splatter’s finish this off perfectly! I could watch you colour for hours. Love your videos. Okay off to order.

  17. This is beautiful!! The spatters add to the beauty, I think. This is one coloring book I would love to have!

    1. The new brushes were nice to use and definitely hold a lot more pigment than the watercolor barrel brushes. I haven’t tried the ‘fine’ brushes as yet…. maybe soon fingers crossed!

  18. Absolutely stunning, Therese! Loved the video and I learned so much with your technique tips!! BTW: LOVE the splatters!!

  19. You never disappoint me with your incredible videos and I love listening to another Aussie. You make the flowers jump of the page. Thanks for sharing .

  20. No I don’t think it’s ruined. It definitely adds an artistic touch. . . I have at times seen people add so many splatters to a beautiful, gorgeous watercolor and had the same thought as your husband. Love listening to you. Thanks for comparing all the new products and also showing that you don’t need it all. Work with what you’ve got. Which seems to be a problem for me. I do want it all.

  21. Ah, Therese, your card is stunning, and your video is, as always, inspiring. I do love the white spatters, also! Yes, I have full-set syndrome, and your comments are so true, you don’t need it all. Thanks so much for sharing your gifts.

  22. LOVE the water coloring book idea! Fabulous! I am really enjoying watercolor, so I may have to try those brushes as well. But my husband said I can’t buy any more stuff. Oh well, the marriage was fun while it lasted! 🙂 Your husband seems to give unsolicited opinions. When I feel like I’ve created a winning card, I show my husband and all he says is “it’s alright”. Then I throttle him. That’s love.

  23. So soothing to watch you create Therese – first day of our latest lockdown in Victoria and this is just what I need! Love your finished card – especially the splatters – and I think the watercolour colouring book is fabulous!

  24. Love the orange petals against the blue wash background, and Therese the splatters are spectacular….tell hubby I said so!

  25. Beautiful, Therese … it’s always fabulous to watch you colour … I either learn something new each time … or am reminded of something important that I’ve forgotten … thank you! Splatters … definitely perfect … they add such life and energy to this lovely image! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  26. Love the new brushes and coloring book! Whenever my husband makes comments or gives me suggestions on my finished work I just give him “the look.”

  27. What a magnificent and spectacular release! You did a spectacular job to showcased creative ways to use everything. YOU SO ROCK!!

  28. Your card is beautiful. I don’t think you ruined it by putting the splatters. Thank you for the great video.

  29. Therese, Your Poppy card is exquisite. I watched the video and was captivated watching you paint this lovely little flower. I didn’t think you ruined your card LOL! What do husbands know anyway….? HA !
I’m not a watercolorist and have no training in watercolor however, I’m willing to try your style and methods. Wish me luck please!! Thank you for all your videos. You share so much with this community, HOORAY!

  30. I’m just trying watercolor and love it. It’s so relaxing and enjoyable to slowly paint your way to being stress free! I think the coloring book is a great idea and can’t wait to try it.

  31. I love how beautiful and spring like your flower feels. You picked a beautiful color palette for your painting. The splatters give the image extra pizzazz!! Thank you for making the video and showing us the brushes and book!! ❤️

  32. Splatters are wonderful… love this poppy and your colors are really beautiful. I never knew how many colors poppies can be! Great weight to the card also. TFS your tips and tricks.

  33. I’m with you – like the idea of no stamping or masking. The book is a great idea. Thanks for sharing your beautiful watercolor with us. 🙂
