Altenew Feb Stencils/Dies/Embossing Folders Collection Release Blog Hop & Giveaway + Video!

Did you know that you can make floral cards without colouring? Today I have 3 cards showing VERY different ways to add colour to floral designs….

This post is part of a Hop celebrating a new release from Altenew so you should have arrived here from the ALTENEW Card Blog, and there are lots of new beautiful flowers to play with! Not everyone likes to colour flowers, or maybe you need a card quickly, I had fun creating these 3 cards without ‘colouring’!

My first technique to add colour was Ink Splatters. I embossed my floral design with the Daisies 3D Embossing Folder,

Altenew - Daisies 3D Embossing Folder - Bold Thanks Die (card) 4 copy

then I added lots of different fun colours of the Ink Sprays. Many of these have a sparkle that can be seen when tilted in the light.

The sentiment I used here today is the wonderful Bold Thanks Die.

My next technique was to die cut Coloured Cardstock… but I made my own colours using Altenew’s Artist Markers and simply scribbled these on scrap cardstock and die cut them out with the Branches and Berries Die Set.

I also added a couple of extra ink blended leaves using the negative space from the die cut along with some Tea Party enamel dots for extra berries.

The sentiment is from the Crystal Frames set and I framed it using one of the Nesting Slim Rectangles Dies.

My final technique is Ink Blending and I used the beautiful new Flower Bunch Simple Layering Stencil Set. I have a video sharing how this card came together and you can find it linked below.

I added lots of texture to the panel by running it through with the Mod Squares 3D Embossing Folder.

And my sentiment is from the Simple Greetings Die Set popped up on an Apothecary Label.

    1. Love how you made your own colored cardstock. I’ll definitely use that die set over and over. Can’t wait.

  1. Wow! Your cards are absolutely gorgeous! I love the colors and the texture! The embossed daisies on the Thanks card look fabulous!

  2. Wonderful cards. I saw the splatters and loved how that turned out thinking it would be my next attempt, then the branches and berries and that one quickly became my next have to try. Lovely card and spring like, especially appreciate it as it’s currently minus 9 degrees here. I’m so over winter, now I know how to make spring in my craft space

    1. Beautifully done. I would never have thought to emboss over the floral image. It looks lovely. Thank you for the inspiration.

  3. Beautiful and imaginative cards. I love them all, however my favorite is the daisies. That’s my mom’s favorite flower so thank you for the wonderful inspiration.

PS: and thank you for your delightful videos, always enjoyable.

  5. The ink splatter is so simple but I love this card! The pastel, painted egg colors on a field of white is like a reminder that spring is just around the corner. Thank you for sharing your lovely cards with us.

  6. Love the splatters and the subtle embossed flowers ! I want to take a walk in that “Awesome “garden and the texture from the embossing folder in the third card is really beautiful.

  7. Pretty sensational card with your color selections for the stenciled image, the embossing and the elegant die-cut sentiment.

  8. I like all three cards! But, my favorite is the one with the embossing folder used over the stenciled flowers! That was a great idea, and it looks fabulous!

  9. Absolutely love your cards, Therese! Since coloring is not one of my skills, your cards are the perfect inspiration for me! I never would have thought to do the splatters with an embossing folder–brilliant!

  10. I love the vintage colors of the third example and die-cutting the leaves out of colored cardstock. I love using tools in unexpectedly expected ways!

  15. Three terrific cards but I particularly like the branches and berries and the Flower bunch. Your video was very helpful with the stenciling and the offset bouquet and over embossing added to the appeal! Thanks for the inspiration (and making me add things to my wish list!)

  16. Three really beautiful cards Therese, love them. I have to say, everything you’ve used today is on my shopping list, well to be honest, practically everything from the release is on it. It’s just another fabulous release. Love how you used the embossing folder on the third card, so inspirational ❤️

  17. I admire altenews creative product designers and the teams for card and scrapbook design. Top-notch all. You Therese, make design look so effortless. Love love your style

  19. All your cards are lovely, as usual, but I absolutely love the last card. This stencil set is my favorite part of the release!

  20. I love everything about this card! The colors are perfect. The layout is great. Love, love the texture over the whole image/card, and the message tag adds so much. This is just my style. I can’t stop looking at it. Seriously.

  21. Love the cards. Choosing the blues for the flower is great. I get tired of the green leaves all the time.

  22. These are my kind of florals – love those blue leaves, the spatters and all the fabulous texture. I like the negative diecut inked leaves too – clever idea which I should try.

  23. Just watched your YouTube video from the email link – fantastic. Glad I visited your blog to see the two beautiful additional cards. So in love with the daisy and splatters!

  28. Wow, Therese! Girl, you never disappoint! Absolutely gorgeous cards! Stunning! 💜 Warm hugs from San Antonio, Texas, where we are presently freezing our booty off! haha haha 😂😂😂 We don’t “do” Winter, Therese, so this has been painful. We even got snow, which has not happened since 1985! We were 80*F the day before Winter came back! It’s okay. We’ll be 70*F by Sunday! Yee-haw, Texas weather! 😀 Be safe!

  29. Absolutely delightful card projects, Therese! Am loving this release but I say that with every release!! LOL

  31. Therese, I love all three of these cards. This new release is filled with so much creative inspiration. Thank you for sharing your creativity!

  32. So beautiful, from first to last! I never thought of scribbling on the paper before cutting the die cuts! I usually struggle with inking the fine structure after die cutting!! I love the idea of embossing after making the card front. I LOVE THAT EMBOSSING FOLDER!!!

  33. Your cards are always so beautiful and inspiring, Therese! I love how you used those berries and branches, especially ink blending through the negative space. I never would have thought of that! The last card is my fave. Love that layering stencil and how easy it is to create such a beautiful card in a short time. The embossing folder is the perfect ending! Thanks for keeping it fresh!

  34. Your cards are wonderful. I love that you created your own colored card. The texture from the Daisy embossing folder is so deep I almost thought it was die cut and layered on top. That’s amazing for a folder. The beautiful texture on the last card is wonderful, as well.

  35. Nicely done! I enjoyed seeing your cards very much as sometimes I’m not in the mood (or have time) to color flowers. Thanks for your inspiration! Loving all the new Altenew things!!!!

  36. I absolutely love your cards…the designs are stunning and the techniques used are so creative (especially the ink splatter)!!!

  38. Oh no, I should not do this blog hop. I already have 3 items in my cart and just made an order 2 days ago, but I can’t stop looking.
I like how you used the flower stencils over the 4D embossing. I would not have believed that could work.

  39. Great ideas. I really like the first card with the ink splatters. The other cards are wonderful and very pretty.

  40. Absolutely love the daisy card.so simple, yet so beautiful! Would have never thought to use it that way!❤️

  48. I do love all three cards that you made. The floral card with the stencil is gorgeous and cannot wait to purchase and try. You made it look so simple. Thank you for your inspiration

  49. Like all the cards but the last one really speaks to me with the blue and touch of grey with texture from the embossing folder!

  50. Fantastic cards! I especially like the last one. I would have been leery of using an embossing folder with those lovely flowers but love the look you achieved. Guess I will have to be a bit more adventurous. 🙂 Thank for sharing and for the helpful video!
