Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Clematis + Alcohol Markers Set F&G Release Blog Hop & Giveaway + Video!

Does colouring with alcohol markers scare you? Today I have a very EASY technique to colour flowers, seriosuly, anyone can do this!

But first did you know that Altenew has a new Paint-A-Flower and Artist Marker release! And to celebrate we are hopping along at Altenew so you should have arrived here from SEEKA’s amazing Blog!

Today I was inspired by Yana Smakula and her card and video HERE, I loved the way she coloured her flowers and I just had to give this technique a try for myself. I used the Sunshine Valley Garden Set of Artist Markers.

And I thought the Simple Roses Stamp Set was a great choice for this style of colouring. I blended my own background with the Cool Summer Night colours.

And finally added a sentiment from the Hello and Hugs Stamp and Die set.

You can see my video  or Watch it in HD at YouTube.

  1. So very pretty! And you are right, I think I could manage this technique. New marker sets, oh my the budget is going to be shot this month.

  2. Hi, Therese. So easy!! I never thought of NOT blending the artist markers. It was right there in front of me and it didn’t occur to me. Thanks for sharing! I bought four sets of the artist markers and I wonder if these new sets you are using have all new colors? Or are they the same colors grouped differently?

    1. These new markers are ALL new colours, so there will be no duplicates if you already have any of the previous sets. Hope this helps, thanks so much for your lovely comments!

  3. This cartoony style of colouring looks great on these flowers. The blue background is perfect for those pinks.

  4. Thanks for the video! This is beautiful and I may have to try alcohol markers yet! I think I would order the garden valley set because of the color range! We’ll see!

  5. I forgot my plan crafting yesterday lol. This is a great technique- thank you so much for showing us.

  6. Love the new colours. Bright and beautiful. I’ve seen Yana use this technique on several occasions and it really is very effective. It just gives projects a more contemporary look. Your card today is beautiful. I love the way you layered the flowers and complemented it with the layered sentiment. Brilliant ❤️

  7. OMG! Great colors! And the set of 4 colors make it “nearly” idiot-proof for me to get great dimension in my blending. I need all the help I can get, so this “no-blending” technique fits the bill. Thank you…and to Yana Smakula for this great idea.
I didn’t see the Artist Markers Labels on their website….is this new?

    1. Hi June, Altenew have had Artist Markers for years, at the shop blog look under the tab ‘Coloring’ and you will see ‘Alcohol Markers’. Hope this helps, Crafty hugs Therese

  8. So beautiful! I really appreciate your overview of the markers at the start, I’m just getting into alcohol markers so I’m still building my collection and it is nice to learn about the different types!

  9. Well, these cards are fun and what a cool technique. Never would have never thought to NOT blend alcohol markers. I have to try this. The results are great.

  10. Altenew’s Simple Roses is a day brightener, especially on that gorgeous blue background. I love the way you used more of an oval shape with Yana’s technique. You’ve inspired me to give it a whirl!

  11. Yuppers I love the unique and wonderful way Ms. Yana colors, but you duplicated the incredible beauty perfectly. I love this very much!

  12. Love your pretty card!!!!!! Makes me wish for warmer days outside and all my flowers blooming around the house. 🙂

  13. love how you did the background and the way the “HUGS” is done. The card is just stunning!

  14. What a great card. I had already seen Yana’s style of coloring but had not tried it. I am looking forward to trying the method especially after watching what you do on this card.

  15. Your card is lovely! The markers are blending so beautifully that the flowers look alive. Well done!

  16. A gorgeous card, Therese! I watched Yana showing how to do that simple colouring too, but as always I still haven’t tried it!! I think I’ll have to now!! 🙂 Thanks so much for the great inspirational video ! Take care! 🙂

  17. Love this simplified technique! Thanks for the link to Yana’s website. She takes this “simple” technique to a whole new and beautiful level. You have inspired me with your beautiful card!

  18. Such a beautiful card design as always. I love your color palette. Your videos are so inspiring. Thank you for sharing your ideas and tips!

  19. I, too, saw Yana demonstrating that coloring technique, but I wasn’t convinced I could pull it off. You’ve inspired me to give it a try. Your card is gorgeous and I love those new marker colors.

  20. I have always been fearful of using alcohol markers. Thank you for the very clear instructional video.

  21. I am absolutely in love with your beautiful card! I can’t believe you made that background yourself, too! WOW!
