Today I share three different ways to use the Layered Snowflake Die from Altenew and you also get a chance to WIN! This set is designed to layer up, but for some strange reason I forgot to do that.
I think it may be because I got fixated on the ‘wooden snowflake’ but more about that in the video linked below. I did start with some pastel (I know, so not me) designs. I layered up some stamps from Peace Love Joy, Starry Night and Blessings to create a background pattern.
I then added some die cut snowflakes to create a border across the top of the card.
My second design is similar, I sponged some colour in the background and popped up a top panel using the negative space from the Layered Snowflake Dies.
I also added some snowflakes to the top panel, sequins and a sentiment from the Starry Night stamp set.
My final card and video makes a curveball, a ‘danish’ style wooden snowflake design? Anyway… you can watch the video and see the process.
The sentiment was white heat embossed from the Festive Poinsettia stamp set (a nice retro style font).
You can see my video here or Watch in HD at YouTube.

what a beautiful set of dies – love snowflakes as I grew up in Europe and they give me a nostalgic feel of winter and Christmas 🙂 – love your creativity Therese – these cards are beautiful
Hello I really like it when you give more than one example. Thank you for sharing your talent and time.
Love your card, great idea!
Beautiful card
So different yet so pretty I didn’t know they had wood paper love all your cards. Good luck to all
Oh Therese, I love the pastel tones of the first two cards in contrast to the wooden snowflakes which I’d seen first on the video. They were so unexpected. Such a juxtaposition if the delicacy of the pastels and the strong clean lines of the wood. They’re brilliant. You’re always such an inspiration. Thank you.
Absolutely love all of the cards using the snowflake dies, but the one which stands out is your “danish” masterpiece. That card should be krpt and displayed as a Christmas decoration! I would bring it out each year and display it.
These are super beautiful and elegant snowflake cards! Love the partial diecutting for the border one a lot! 🙂
All unique and equally beautiful. The rustic feeling of the wood is perfect for our holiday season xxðŸ˜
Your cards are fantastic ! They are all very inspiring and the idea of using wood for the last one is fantastic !!!! Thank you for the inspiration.
All of these cards are so beautiful and creative! Thank you!
How cool to have paper made from wood!!! SO many creative uses! Love all your cards and the ideas you’ve shared. Thanks, Theresa!
They are all lovely, but I do love the wooden snowflakes.
Such a pretty design, love that second card! Thanks for sharing!
Stunning cards. You really bring the best out of these die sets and inspire the rest of us. Thank you Therese!
It is always a treat to see what you create. Thanks for sharing your talent and your vacations.
Hi, Therese! I love each one of these beautiful cards! The Danish one is so unique and so pretty. But, the pastel ones are gorgeous, too. You never cease to amaze me with your unique card designs!!
I am a sucker for snowflakes to begin with so your cards just really appeal to me – gorgeous. THEN, I watched the video and I LOVE the wooden snowflakes card. It is beautiful!!
Such gorgeous cards. I absolutely love the wooden snowflakes!
I love these snowflakes.
Oooo excellent idea for wooden snow flakes. Question how do you scoop the matte or collage medium in that tiny bottle without making a huge mess?
Answer – I didn’t lol. There is always a mess when I fill the bottle of glue, because I have found the easiest way is to just scoop it with my finger and tap it down then repeat. No elegance involved at all. Thanks so much for visiting and for your lovely comments, Hugs Therese
A very unique card, thanks for all the helpful tips when using the fun foam.
All three cards are beautiful. The last with “wooden” snowflakes is so cool!! Love the idea and the finished look. TFS. Your inspiration is always much appreciated.
What a neat idea! I never would have thought of doing wooden snowflakes, but it works and is so pretty. You always have really nice ideas for your cards.
Beautiful cards. I love the snowflake dies. Thanks for sharing.
Love the whimsical yet elegant feel of these snowflake cards. I’m definitely going to have to check out the birch paper, it’s so cool. Thank you for sharing your amazing creativity!
Wow! Beautiful cards! I especially love the sponged background one!
All the cards are beautiful. The wooden card reminds me of winters & holidays when we lived in ND, along the MN border, & all the Scandinavian influences in the area. Thanks for sharing your ideas & expertise. Happy Holidays. Jane
Beautiful card. Has a Nordic feel.
What a beautiful cards! I’m totally in love with the wooden snowflake card!â¤

Love the pastel colors, and who “wood” have thought to make Danish snowflakes! Lovely cards, Therese.
The three beautiful cards! The wooden snowflake card is my favourite!
I think snowflakes are so much fun and your wooden ones are delightful. I love the 2nd card. Great ideas for cards, thank you!
Beautiful!! My favorite is the Danish card. Love the snowflakes and the paper.
Oh Therese, all three cards are gorgeous, love the soft pastel colors on the first two, your designs are so clean and elegant.
The third card really took me by surprise, I thought this was just cardstock with a wooden design but it’s actually sheets of wood!!!, how amazing is this, I must get some of it, it’s gorgeous!!
Thank you for sharing and for the chance to win.
XO
Maria Rodriguez.
Now I am also “fixated†on wooden snowflakes, and card design ideas! Thanks for the inspiration 🙂
Such a beautiful way to use the Snowflake Dies!! Winter is a favorite season of mine and your beautiful creativity has me longing for snowflakes. Thanks for sharing your work with us.
Love your beautiful cards!
Love the wooden snowflakes and wooden background. The card reminds me of the wooden ornaments that spin with the lit candles. I think they are German Christmas decorations. TFS
Elaine
GORGEOUS cards!
Boy, I really love making snowflake cards. Yours is utterly beautiful as usual. Good luck everyone. TFS!
What a genius way to use these snowflake dies! The wood makes the card really special.
The wood look snowflakes are so unique, Therese.
Love the look of your beautiful and unique cards! I have a small tree I decorate each year for a table top and I think it would be adorable with wooden snowflakes. The smaller dies in this layering set would be the perfect size. Something to think about. Lol! Thanks for the inspiration!
luv the look of these wooden snowflakes!!!
Great designs, Therese! I love the pastels that give that frosty effect with your snowflakes, and that wooden card is amazing! Those snowflakes certainly have enough character on their own – I would never know they were supposed to by layered!
All of your cards are beautiful! I just love snowflakes and the wooden ones look so cool. 🙂
Such a unique way to make a sensational card. I would have never thought to use wood to die cut a set of snowflakes. Thanks for all the hints and suggestions for working with fun foam. Sadly, I have no Altenew products in my stash, so would love the opportunity to get to know the company.
Oh, those wooden snowflakes are gorgeous!
Oh Therese, All of the cards are beautiful. The wooden ones are quite different. Surely wouldn’t have thought of that! The pastel ones really caught my eye. Just beautiful with just enough sparkle.
Oh no now I need to add more snowflakes to my collection. Beautiful cards-sod colors are gorgeous and the wood ones are so fun!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!
What an amazingly different style of Christmas card Therese. Ever so lovely.
Love your use of the wood paper! I’ve never seen it before, have all sorts of ideas. ☺ Thank you
Wow! All of the cards are lovely but the wood snowflakes are amazing! I’m pretty sure that I need to add these dies to my stash. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful Christmas card, love the wood snowflakes, I love anything with snowflakes. Love the wood sheets so must get some. Congratulations on a very ‘different’ card.
Cards are just beautiful. What a great idea.
Love your videos, and all the cards you make – very clever
Your cards are so pretty! I just love those snowflake dies, layered or not.
I can see why you became obsessed with the wooden snowflakes- they look great especially with the little pop of red. Awesome cards!
Do like this design and colour is different. Love the snowflakes to, think I must get this die. Thankyou Terese.
Cool card…that’s the way of snowflakes. I’m glad to know someone else has that problem with the liquid glue. I thought it was because I’m old and weak. Now I know I need to refill my bottle.
Great card idea. Who would have thought. TFS!
I love the wooden snowflakes! I haven’t tried the wood yet, but need to!
Wow amazing cards. I like the partial diecutting and the wood snowflakes. Ok I like all of them.
I always enjoy your videos and your work and since of humor. Thank you.
Oh…each card is GORGEOUS…but I think I like the pink and blue negative space snowflake best! You are amazing. I love your designs!
The snowflake dies are the nicest I’ve seen, and the birch paper is lovely and unique. Such gorgeous cards, even though the missing apostrophe in “Season’s” bothers me. I saw it was barely visible in the stamp image on the Altenew site, but I’m sure I’d have my white gel pen out to make it more prominent. ☺ Still, nicely done and very impressive. Love the dimension, and it’s always nice to see more than one inspiration example. Thanks!
These are all great cards. It’s good to see how versatile the dies can be. All the cards have a different look.
As always your designs are so interesting and inspiritational.
The wooden snowflakes are so unique. I would like to try some. The tip to glue them onto the fun foam while still connected is something I can surely apply. Thank you.
I love the wood snowflake card so much! It’s different & so beaufiful! Thanks Therese!
As I scrolled down the post the ohs and ahs just kept coming. Love them all and I am definitely going to try a few cards like these.

Three fabulous looking cards made using these wonderful snowflake dies. Love each idea in its total individual look. Best thing to do is buy the dies and try all the designs.
Love the wood card. I have some birchwood paper but I am “saving it”. Hmmm…
Hi Therese, I love your snow flake cards, as always you do such a lovely job on them, TFS, Cheers Anna.

Love the Scandinavian look
I’ve had Danish wooden snowflake ornaments hanging from my Christmas tree for more than 40 years, Therese. My grown up sons still look for them. So what a delight to see them in your video today. You’ve made me smile! And those pastel cards are soft and lovely. Love them, too. Sending hugs. xo
BEAUTIFUL!
They look great!!! Thanks for sharing

Oooh, LOVE these! So beautiful!
Those first two pastel cards have a wonderful sense of frostiness about them, Therese … they’re kinda magical … and the final design is deliciously fresh and folky … the warmth of the wood is fabulous with the bright red sentiment panel! Hugs, Anita 🙂
Very nice cards Witherspoon snowflakes😀
Your cards are beautiful! I loved the different ways you worked with the snowflakes, but I think it is so impressive to be able to give the last card such a look of carved wood. Love!
Just loved all three cards. I’ve just bought this die set and I really love your take on it.
The wooden snow flake card is so funky.
Cheers
Lisa
Beautiful trio of snowflake cards. So glad you went with your urge of wooden snowflakes as that is so stunning to see made. Thank you for for information on the collage medium as I had seen it in articles but knew little about it, now I do. x
beautiful cards. I wouldn’t have thought of wooden snowflakes, such a great idea!!!
So pretty and inspiring Therese! Love them all!
I love them all, but then I love snowflakes. I also didn’t know Altenew carried this kind of paper. I will have to check that out.
These are such stunning cards Therese! I really like the pastel tones you chose, as it’s a nice change from the typical Christmas colors.
Great cards. Love the birch wood. You certainly have more patience than me!
Hi Therese…I love watching your video tutorials. You always have such great ideas…thanks for sharing your beautiful project with us.

Oh my goodness, Therese, all three of these cards are absolutely stunning! â„ï¸ðŸ’«âœ¨ I truly don’t know how you do it…every week you just come up with the most creative designs! It must be all that good Australian air or your lovely sense of humor keeps your heart and mind open so the creative ideas just flow! I know pastels aren’t really you…but these cards beautiful! 💛 Truly!
I love all of these… snowflakes make the perfect Christmas cards! My fave has to be the first card with the flakes tucked behind… thought you’d done some fancy partial die-cutting at first and was scratching my head as to how you’d done it! 🙂 xx
