Today I created my very own ‘Design Paper’ using some Penny Black stamps and I added a little glam with some Rose Gold heat embossing.
This is part of my Gimme 5 Series for Penny Black and if you haven’t seen these videos before then you can check out heaps more at my YouTube Channel Here.
I used the Banner Blooms Stamp Set to make my floral cardstock and added a background panel of this to my first card design. The die cut border comes from the Stitches of Love nesting dies.
I couldn’t resist adding some Hedgie Luv and a sentiment banner from the Special Friends Stamp Set.
A more CAS approach to my second card and I simply added the bird from Peaceful Time
and a Snippet’y’ sentiment.
I used the cardstock as a background again but this time added the Big banner from the stamp set with a Snippet sentiment too!
This cute bunny is also from the Special Friends Stamp Set.
More of a gift card for the next card and this one features the hedgehog from the Tea Time Stamp Set.
This time I die cut a tag from the design paper and added a bow from the Red Roses Die Set.
My final (and favourite) design was probably the easiest to create. I simply used the coordinating dies from the Banner Blooms set to cut out some flowers from the design paper.
Then I added a simple sentiment from the Only You Stamp Set.

Always love this series. Penny Black products are amazing as are all the cards you’ve created for us today. The stamped backgrounds are really lovely. I’m a sucker for their frame dies and this one is beautiful and you’ve incorporated it into one of the two cutest cards. I just love the hedgehogs.

The colours are gorgeous and pared with both the lightly coloured and black and white images…I am hard pressed to choose a favorite! Therese, I think this is just the best way to create your own designer paper!!! I really love DSP but hate to use it because I have a hard time choosing what side should be on top.
And I love the fact you heat embossed it, it looks truly beautiful.

hahaha I don’t like to use my DP because then I don’t have it any more (I think it’s called hoarding lol) so I figure if I make my own I can recreate it as often and in whatever colour I want as Often as I want. Your homemade pattern paper is just stunning! I love how soft and sweet it is with a bit of shine from the embossing. What a beautiful idea.
Therese, I looked at the supply list and thought what did she use the black paper for?! Then I realized the die you mentioned was a bow die (because while reading the post I was confused as to why that ribbon was referred to as a ‘die’. Now it all makes sense!
