How to Make 2 FUN Cards With Alcohol Ink Backgrounds + Video!

Did you know that it is VERY easy to create beautiful Alcohol Ink Backgrounds? But what do you do with them after you have made them?

But first… Did you know that this video is part of my Take 2 With Therese series of videos that I create for Altenew? You can check out the full playlist right HERE for more inspiration.

Do you already have a stack of backgrounds ready to use, or would you like to make some like I did for this video here?

These Alcohol Ink Backgrounds are so much fun to make and to add a little something extra I added a foil element to these. You can see how easy it was to add the foil in the video lined below.

For my first idea I decided to die cut the background into a sentiment. I used the Linear Pathway Alpha Solid Die Set and popped it up onto a Window Slat background.

And for a bit of fun I added a sentiment from the Sentiment Strips 2 Stamp Set.

BONUS IDEA: Why not die cut a layered flower from an Alcohol Inked Background, this would look amazing too!

For my second card design I decided to use the background as a feature panel on my card.

This Fine Bouquet Die looks beautiful in Gold Foil Cardstock.

And this time I layered up a Signature Words Die sentiment die cut in Dark Chocolate Cardstock.

You can see my video here or Watch it in HD at YouTube.

I hope you are inspired to create a card using Alcohol Ink Backgrounds! And if you do, I’d love to see it so please tag me on social media!

  1. I LOVE the “56” — so easy to personalize! I probably would add “OMG” or “WOW, that’s OLD” to mine 😉
I love the look, but I have NEVER been able to get the timing of adding the foil to alcohol ink– too soon, too late, or totally forgotten– ARGH! I wish there was a magic formula, but humidity (and cat hair) is a major influence. I guess that’s why this is an art.

  2. Hi T! Saw this card back when you made it caught my eye, so – I got the Slats and waited ’til I was ready to make my boys their birthday cards – so my choice is the masculine card! Such a great idea – clean and simple and looks great. Thank you so very much – Your talent and skills do inspire – Denise (aka: Niecie) I’m gonna stop using Denise and use what many people call me:).
