Have you ever looked at your supplies and used them in different ways than intended? Are you ready to exercise together and ‘stretch’?
But first, I wanted to let you know that this is part of my Take 2 Series with Altenew and I’m so excited that you are joining me for another video today. Let’s begin with a peek at today’s cards…
I am using the Spark Joy set today, which is a Hot Foil set, but one of my cards has NO hot foil in sight lol.
Idea #1 – Window Background!
This background is actually made from 2 Hot Foil arches. I flipped one, joined them together, and fussy cut the window from the panels. And, to cover the joins, I used a strategically placed sentiment and flower.
How beautiful is this Prickly Pear… I love that it has the key hole mechanism to make lining up the layers a breeze!
PRO TIP: If you don’t like to fussy cut you could keep the centre of the design navy blue, but it would require a bigger bouquet or sentiment to cover where the arche backgrounds join.
And the sentiment I added is from the Elegant Sayings Set.
Idea #2 – Colour Blocking!
Colour blocking can be acheived in many ways, with inks, paints, even ink blending. But for today’s project I chose cardstock and design paper. And it’s very fast and easy to do!
I did change it up a little by blocking the colours on an angle, and you can see how I use my A2 template to choose the design in my video linked below.
And I added a sweet coordinating stencilled bird as well as a sentiment from the Bold Greetings Die Set.

I love the foil on navy! I tried foiling on navy on the weekend and didn’t get great results. My cardstock looks smooth but it does have a very fine texture to it so guessing that doesn’t help. I’ll have to have a look at Altenew’s cardstock 🙂
The Altenew Navy that I have is very smooth.
I just love how you combine colours. The gold foil on navy is just sublime.
