Put your hand up if you like cake. Well, as you can see, I have both my hands up as I LOVE cake and today I have 2 ‘cake’ cards to share with you.
I adore this first card, to me it feels like a PARTY! The background streamers are made using the Carnival Party Stencil, but then I overlayed some ‘homemade’ coloured glitter paste dots with Falling Snow.
Then it was time to cook and decorate the cake. Of course mine was pink and apricot and all the layers were such fun to create. But it was the silver ‘cake topper’ that really made me smile. I couldn’t decided where to put the sentiment and nothing felt right… then I had an epipheny (that doesn’t happen very often😉).
I love that the Birthday & Wish Die Set has a coordinating Hot Foil Plate as well as the die-cut version. Keep an eye out for my next card coming soon using the die set on its own.
I decided to keep the party (and the oven) going, but this time it’s a more clean and simple design. Starting with a subtle patterned background using the Dazzling Fireworks Cover Die.
I die-cut the layered cake with coloured cardstock and decorated it with the cute floral elements from the set. The sentiment is from Celebrations Sentiments which stamps and cuts a bunch of sentiments all at once using the clever coordinating Thin Stripes Cover Die.
BONUS CARD IDEA: These cake cards could easily be adapted to create wedding cards, change up the backgrounds and remove the sparklers, the flowers and hearts are already in the stamp set.
