What is the weirdest thing that has inspired a card for you? Today I was inspired by packaging… but, I promise it was ‘pretty packaging’ 😉

Take the guesswork out of colour combinations! Professional companies are paid a squillion (Yes, it’s a real word, actually, it’s probably not) to create advertisements, patterns for dresses and fabrics and ‘packaging’ like this one… 
Why not use these colour combinations or patterns in your card designs? And, maybe even challenge yourself to try something new, I know that I would never have combined these colours!
To get the gold outline look I decided to use a beautiful die cut flower which has both a base and outline layer. I did struggle a little bit with the die cutting but finally worked out a solution to get the ‘look’ I wanted.
BONUS IDEA: Instead of die cutting the gold outlines, why not heat emboss the gold flowers on coloured cardstock instead… I may need to try that myself!
I kept true to the inspiration by adding a gold heat embossed sentiment in a beautiful scripty font.

It is still difficult to comprehend you are in sweltering hot weather and going to the beach while we in Minnesota are slipping on icy sidewalks and dodging snowflakes!
My husband and I are going to Tasmania and New Zealand in early February, so if we can experience the warmth for ourselves. If you have any travel ideas, we would welcome them!
