But first, I wanted to let you know that this post contains a ton of affiliate links (at no extra cost to you – just in case you decide to go shopping 😉) and that it is part of a Hop celebrating a new release from Altenew and you can find all of the hop details in the link list below!

2 BEAUTIFUL Pink Floral Cards!

With so many choices available, changing up the techniques used to create cards can really alter the total direction of a card design. If I am in the mood for a more ‘slick’ modern design I tend towards a die cut layered flower, but for something a little softer and if I’m in the mood, then it’s time to colour and I have one example of each to share.

Here are today’s cards. Could 2 pink floral cards look any different?

Altenew - Blooming Delight - Meadow Reflections - The Blossom of Life - Elegant Sayings (cards) (1)

Card #1 – Die Cut Floral

For a fast and easy card design, layering floral die cuts are a great option. I particularly like them on a clean and simple design and will often use coloured cardstock or design paper to add different effects.

PRO TIP: If you don’t have cardstock in the colour you want, simply ink blend white cardstock with dye ink, allow a couple of minutes for it to dry and then die cut it as usual.

Altenew - The Blossom of Life - Elegant Sayings (carfs) 1

I used ink blended cardstock in today’s design and after I assembled The Blossom of Life flower I added it directly to the card front.

Hint: Keep an eye out for an upcoming video using this set, the cards look completely different!

I did add a little dimension to the sentiment, but for a more post friendly version you could also stamp this directly onto the card front.

Card #2 – Hand Coloured Floral

I adore a coloured floral bouquet, and for a soft subtle look, you can’t go past colouring with watercolours. I have been practicing with the Altenew Watercolor Tubes and I really enjoy how the background looks using multiple colours layered together.

BONUS IDEA: Don’t have watercolours, or not sure if you like the idea? Did you know that you can watercolour with dye inks to see if you like it, check out how in my 10 Top Tips for Watercolouring Live VIDEO HERE.

Using different mediums such as alcohol markers or pencils would change the look completely too. Or, you can do what I did, and add extra depth to the design using pencils over top of the watercoloured images!

I added a butterfly and a layered die cut sentiment but kept the floral design centre stage.
