Video : Same But Different Christmas Card Series 2018 – Background Panels!

Today I share some ideas on how to use background panels for your Christmas card projects. I am back with another of my Same But Different Christmas Card Series and today I have 6 +1 cards to share!

It all started with some background panels that I created on World Card Making Day with my beautiful crafty friend Linda.  She was kind enough to allow me to play with her beloved Concord & 9th Deck The Halls Turnabout Stamp and with a combo of Catherine Pooler inks these panel stamped up very quickly.

First Ink Combo : Seafoam / Spruce / Skylight / Sugared Lavender

I started with one of my fave techniques so I used Altenew’s Bold Alphabet Die and I got a two for one deal.

The flowers are die cut with the Holiday Cheer Tag Dies from Concord & 9th (which perfectly match this turnabout stamp).

My second panel was a combo of reds and pinks and I used the Penny Black Holiday Edgers to create the sentiment

Second Ink Combo : Rockin’ Red / Party Dress / Be Mine

and added a bauble from the Holiday Cheer Tag Dies.

This card uses another Concord & 9th sentiment from the Holly Jolly Banner Dies

and I decided it would be nice to see the pattern through the negative space of the sentiment.

My final panel stretched to 3 card designs!  Firstly I die cut a Penny Black Winter Village

Third Ink Combo : Aquatini / Grape Crush / Fiesta Blue / Grass Skirt

and a sentiment from the Holiday Cheer Tag Dies (and the reason why I just ‘had to have’ this set lol).

I die cut a Reverse Confetti Triangle Tree from the remaining portion of the panel and created a sparkly shaker.

I added a sentiment from another Concord & 9th set called Very Merry Sentiments.

So what to do with the ‘left over’ tree and sentiments?  Well, make another card of course….

I did sneak a few Altenew enamel dots (the matte ones) onto the tree and couldn’t believe how perfect the colour match was to the stamped background.

  1. Great cards! Fabulous colours. Love the negative die cut sentiments. I hope there are some good Black Friday sales coming up as I might need to go shopping!

  2. Beautiful cards Therese and I love the two that weren’t featured in the video. Despite the fact that I love the traditional reds and greens of Christmas, you really can’t beat a cool, contemporary blue!

  3. Oh it’s almost like putting Baby in the corner! lol SO pretty… too pretty to be in the background – so easy to have my eye drawn to your fabulous stamping, Therese! off to watch the magic of the Season… xx

  4. The use of non-traditional colors is FABULOUS! I always look forward to “Therese’s Take” on new stamp and die sets!

  5. Awesome cards! Love how you got seven cards out of three backgrounds. Can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us in the next little while!

  6. I love these! I especially love the blue combo background. How long does it take for you to come up with the ideas for these? You’re amazing, and I love your videos!
