Large Flower Stamps Look So Much Better When You Do This! (+ Video)

If you love the watercolour look and want an easy way to get this real quick, then the watercolour stamping I share in today’s video could be a great option for you!

This flower is huge and I thought it would be fun to create a 3D effect across the card front, you can watch the process in the video linked below.

I stamped the images using the beautiful Sugarplums Ink Set.

And added a sentiment from the Sentiment Strips 2 die cut with the Featured Sentiments Die Set.

  1. Wow, LOVE this color combo for fall with these beautiful peonies and the 3D look is amazing, what a gorgeous card! Thanks for another awesome video tutorial, especially water color stamping tips.

    1. Here in Tasmania peonies are starting to bloom now including my deep red peony under my lilac tree. A very timely release for southern hemisphere dwellers. Thank you Altenew and your creative team for continually producing and showcasing a wonderful array of stamps/dies/inks etc to keep the joy of crafting alive.

  2. Love, Love, the colors used. So beautiful and fills the card perfectly. Always nice work here and great instructional video. Off to more great ideas and happy hopping.

  3. As you were choosing the sentiment die cut, I thought “oh, yes the thicker one” and then that’s what you chose! Great minds….. I find in cutting off the overage on a card I have to use the guillotine cutter or I cut the card base! Long scissors are not my friend…lol

  4. Gorgeous card!!! Leaving the bottom layer white really brightened up the flowers. That is a great trick. Really like the 3D effect you got with your pretty blooms!

  5. I love how you left the base layer white and those Sugarplum colors are beautiful for you peonies! The layer of grey in the background is wonderful!

  6. I LOVE peonies, and I really like the nontraditional colors you have used here. Just lovely! The stamp is large and I didn’t think it would fit on a card, and here you have THREE without a problem! And I like the wider/fatter size frame for your sentiment!! Thanks for the inspiration, Therese!

  7. This is beautiful! Love the color choices as well! Sometimes I have trouble using the larger designs in creating a composition on a card and this was so helpful!

  8. Beautiful card, beautiful colours, beautiful bloom. Love it all.
Another stunning Build A Flower set.
Thank you for the inspiration Therese.
    Keep well.

  9. I said “ooooh” out loud when I opened the post email – gorgeous! And I like the “fatter” sentiment too 🙂

  10. This card takes my breath away! Your color choices are beautiful and the black with white sentiment pops so nicely. Great job!

  11. I’ve been posting my peony’s opening these last two weeks. Had to smile because I was hoping for a peony in this marvelous set. Loved the video, so many handy hints. Love the ghost kittens too. My son adopted a rescue kitten and she loves to help in my studio too!
Beautiful card really love the sugar plum colour way. Keep health.
    Cheers

  12. I always enjoy watching you create Therese and this was no exception! The flowers look gorgeous, your colour scheme is stunning and as usual you give such helpful tips! Thanks so much!

  13. Very pretty! I would not have thought of those colors for the peonies. But the flowers are radiant and glorious!

  14. Love this 3D effect. The grey cardstock blends well with the grey tone in the purples. I also have guillotine issues. Some days it seems impossible to get a 90 degree cut.

  15. You’re so funny! “Fatter” is just fine, lol! I saw this card over on IG when I was checking things out this morning. The first thing that my eyes went to were the colors. Rich and elegant. Then my eyes saw those peonies…exactly what I’ve been looking for! And I did notice the gray panel, too. I was impressed by the beauty and the dimension of this card, Therese. Absolutely love this! Stunning card and fun video! Stay safe. xo

  16. I always look forward to your creations, Therese. Your color combinations always inspire me! I love the layout of this card. The flowers look like they’re floating on air! Thanks too for sending them over to my blog. Warm regards <3

  17. I am a huge fan of your work and again you have created another beautiful card. I love the peonies with the colors you chose! I can’t wait to get home from our trip so I can use this great stamp set.

  18. Beautiful card. Perfect for a large flower. Great trick to add the leaves to the flower – can you see me trying to pop up all the elements individually! haha

I too use long bladed scissors to cut when off the edge however I would be lost without my guillotine. After trying more paper trimmers than one should and being tired of replacing blades all the time I purchased a Fiskars one made from recycled plastic about 12 months ago. I love it! I do find I need to stand though or I get wonky cuts.

  19. Your card is gorgeous. I love the 3D look and the beautiful peony. As for the sentiment strip, I think the “fatter” one is perfect, but either one would be lovely on this card.

  20. Beautiful, Therese … the gorgeous grey is a fabulous focal point for these fantastic blooms … the plummy colours are yummy with it! Fatter or skinnier sentiment strip … both would be lovely … your choice is (of course!) delicious! I see your kitty was doing a little helping out!! Hugs, Anita 🙂
