What could I possibly combine with butterflies to make my cards even MORE exciting? Have you guessed it yet?

Obviously you have, it’s Rainbows!! And I have stretched out those rainbows to create 2 versions to inspire.

But seriously though, this Take 2 is very colourful and it’s all thanks to the Swallowtail Butterfly Die Set.

This die set has 3 beautiful layering butterflies which are big enough to take centre stage on your card designs.

Idea #1 – Watercoloured Butterfly

This open winged butterfly is adorbs and I thought it would be fabulous to try a ‘watercolour rainbow’ technique using the Artists’ Watercolors.

I love seeing the rainbow come to life by blending colours together… and if you follow the ROY.G.BIV formula then the chances of creating mud are much less likely lol.

I added some Inky Bouquet splatters and a simple sentiment from the Crystal Frames Stamp Set.
BONUS TIP: Using ink splatter stamps means that you can ‘take control’ of the splatter and reduce splatter stress!

Idea #2 – Rainbow Ink Blending

I wanted to change things up a little with my next card. I was able to blend a pastel rainbow using the Frozen Delights Ink Set.

I used the Gel Printing: Soft Washes Paper Pack to layer up the butterfly.
PRO TIP: You could create your own blended cardstock to layer your butterfly, for a similar look.

And these Hanging Garden leaves were ‘leftovers’ from a previous project and I think they look beautiful on the pastel rainbow.
