Are you a glitter phobe or do you like glitter? I find this a difficult question to answer as I
definitely have a love of all things shiny and ‘glittery’ on my cards but have a hate of finding ‘glittery’ bits flying around for days (nay, weeks) after 😉! So Yes, I do succumb, though I take measured steps, I rarely use loose glitter and much prefer the kind that is already bonded to cardstock, it saves me so much frustration.
I have 2 glittery ideas to share with you today using the beautiful Craft-Your-Life-Project-Kit: Marigold Butterflies! I love the versatility of these project kits and how they allow us to create however we are feeling on the day… especially when the mojo is low. Today I used the new Bronzite glitter cardstock on both of these cards and I love that I can have the look of glitter without the mess!
Idea #1 – Faux Embossing
This is a great way to stretch your products. AND it’s easy to do, simplydie cut the images from the same colour cardstock as the card base and adhere them directly to the front of the card to make it look like a 3D embossed image.

I chose some of the beautiful leaves from the Craft-A-Flower: Open Peony Layering Die Set, but you could use whatever you have in your stash.

But, I didn’t leave it there. I also ‘faux embossed’ the sentiment from the Sweet Sentiments Die Set too!

Idea #2 – Eclipse Technique
This is when a panel, image or word is die cut into a design and popped up so that there is added dimension that can be seen best when the card is tilted on an angle.

I coloured the Marigold Butterflies bouquet on an A2 panel using the coordinating stencil set. Then I die cut a Rounded Rectangles Die from the centre and popped it us using foam tape.

I added a sentiment from the Inky Bouquet Stamp Set and a die cut butterfly with some sneaky little glitter highlights.

I have a video sharing how this card came together and you can see that right here or Watch it on YouTube.
This card uses images from the Craft-Your-Life-Project-Kit Subscription. Each month there is a new collection of supplies that coordinate and allow you to create using MANY techniques all from one group of products. You can find the next Kit available right HERE.
I hope you are inspired to add a little glitter to your card designs. Hope you are having a fun day,

I rarely use it, Therese – but this gorgeous glitter paper is amazing!
Off to watch…
=]
Yay! Hope you enjoy my friend x
I like a touch. It can jest elevate a project as you’ve shown above.
Thank you Dee, although I have been known to go ‘overboard’ with glitter, mostly it’s just a touch lol.
Well I love it when you use it! Lol. Beautiful cards!
Thank you Lisa!
I’m a lover and a hater of it LOL! Love your glittery beauties today, Therese!
I totally hear you Lisa lol.
I love it but don’t use it enough. I do use glitter cardstock more, it has such a great finish. The faux embossing today is so effective. Got to try it.
I must do that ‘faux embossing’ stamped technique again too, it’s been a hot minute. So many techniques so little time lol.
Two beautiful cards – maybe when my cardmaking MOJO comes back I’ll give them a try!
Now the Winter months are coming I expect you will start knitting and quilting again…. or tuck in with some colouring!
Yes! Hope all of these 🙂
Thank you x
I like both designs but especially like the way you ended up making the card. Beautiful!
thank you so very much Karen!
