I like Big Blooms and I cannot lie! Although, I know they can be a little initmidating, but I can help you with that!

#LARGEBLOOMS
One of the BEST things about a large image such as this Peony & Lilac Swag is that it is a huge stamp and this one image can take centre stage on a card very easily. But, this can also feel intimidating and limiting…
Don’t know where to start with such a big image? Here are some of my tips…
- Stamp the bouquet on a piece of cardstock that is large enough to hold the whole image and simply colour it with no card design in mind.
- As you are enjoying the colouring process, start looking at the image a little closer to see how it can be used in multiple card designs…
- Keep it whole – you will need a large card size for this (and an A5 card is perfect)
- Surgery – this is where it gets real interesting, consider cutting the image into pieces. This will give the bouquet a new lease of life, and you so many options for different card designs. And, you can add dimension to layer up the blooms (see my card example below).
- Line Art – Don’t have time to colour, simply stamp the outline only. Why not stamp in coloured ink on a coordinating piece of cardstock (tone on tone). Or, stamp onto a watercoloured or design paper background.
- Highlight – Colour only a portion of the image as a highlight.

I have been in a colouring mood and wanted to revisit alcohol markers. Often, I add extra shading with pencils but today keep it ‘pure’ and only used the markers to add shading (check out my Marker Tips video linked below).
PRO TIP: Want an easier option? Luckily this bouquet has a coordinating layering stencil 😰!
I also added a little dimension. Being able to layer these flowers gives this one bouquet a different look.

Your coloring is gorgeous, Therese! I’ve cut sentiments apart, but haven’t been brave enough to do surgery on a stamp like this. Love the card you made, so surgery was a good idea!
Greta the surgery was done after I stamped and coloured the bouquet, i would not want to cut up a stamp this size either lol.
