Did you know that you can ‘shake’ die cuts? Yes, it’s time for one more interactive card and this one has cuteness overload!

What do children want in a card? Bright, fun and something that moves , it’s simple really! But why not take it up a notch and add something ‘bigger’ that moves? And today, I used a die cut number to shake things up!

These ‘big’ windows are perfect to shake things up to the next level. There is plenty of space both inside and with the depth of the window for a die cut image AND shaker bits. And, of course they are made to fit perfectly with the co-ordinating nesting dies, so that makes them very easy to use.

PRO TIP: If you don’t have these pre made windows, you can get a similar result by creating a regular shaker window. Die cut the shape, use acetate to make your ‘window’ and make a ‘well’ with foam tape behind the window to hold your shaker bits. Then pop up the die cut panel on the front of the card.

And, to take it a step further, let’s personalise it, the kid’s love it! I have added a BIG number, which is hot foiled (yes, in a pretty pastel green). And to add to the ‘shake’ I layered the die cut number 3 times to make it sturdier… because I know that a 4 year old will certainly be testing this!

BONUS IDEA: Numbers are perfect, but you could also add their initial using a large die cut letter instead.

I hope you are inspired to shake something BIG! If you do, don’t forget to share them on social media with me, I’d love to see what you make!

  1. Stay tuned I’ve bought a ton of these looks like everyone will get some sort of shaker card this Christmas!. Live your cute little guy and great use of the die cuts.

  2. I love this cute card. Do you have a video on how you used the products to make it? I’m confused on the bold colourmix numbers, the bold numbers and it mentions a press plate? Is that a stamping platform or something that needs purchasing to use the numbers? I’d love to see a video. I love your cards.

    1. Yes, the Press Plate is a die made to use with the BetterPress (from Spellbinders). This is a fabulous machine which allows you to get a ‘letterpress’ look on your designs. One of the great things is that you can also ‘hot foil’ with these plates using a Hot Foil System which is what I did here in this video. I have a video playlist here showing what it is and how I use it https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXmF43PX8y57a5fCoaXl9vw6CcDq_6q8z&si=556EKPGol68dSjLo
This is the machine from Spellbinders, it works with most manual die cutting machines (this link is affiliate which means if you buy something I get a small commission at no extra cost to you) https://tinyurl.com/ybw5f55r
hope this helps explain, please let me know if you have any further questions. crafty hugs Therese

  3. Brilliant, I saw this on your IG post with your beautiful black cat, so adorable your cat is. I admit loving shaker cards, and this one loveable design, its soft palette with uber cuteness. Perfect ! Hugs xx
