These shoes weren’t made for walking… They were made for cardmaking!
Today I’m sharing another stylish shoe design from the new Alex Syberia Designs release, this time using ink blending to build up color and dimension on these beautiful shoes.
In my previous post I shared a couple of shoe card ideas using colored cardstock, including layered die cuts and a fun patterned design.

Ink Blended Shoe Card
Shoes can be surprisingly fun for card designs. They’re bold, stylish, and perfect for adding a little personality to a project. For this card I used ink blending and markers to build up color on the shoes and then added a few extra details to give them even more dimension.
Card Inspiration – Stylish Bow Shoes
I used the press plate just like a stamp, and it’s surprising how well Tuxedo Black ink works even though it isn’t technically designed for this style of product.

Ink blending doesn’t have to look flat. For this card, I used the coordinating stencils to build up dimension on the shoe. I blended two tones of pink and focused the darker color around the edges of the stencil areas to create shading and depth.

But the real focal point is the bow. I didn’t use any ink blending here, as I don’t usually like to apply alcohol markers over inked areas. Instead, I used Copic markers to add some simple but dramatic shading and finished it with a few bright Tourmaline rhinestones in the center of the bow.

What would I have done differently?
- The gemstones. I really wanted red ones, but I didn’t have any that suited the design. Then I read the comments and Lisa mentioned using a sparkly buckle, which reminded me that I actually have some too… maybe next time!
- I also would have liked to stamp the bows a second time and pop them up for extra dimension, but that would have taken more time than we had during the live. So keep an eye out – next time you might see a popped-up bow with a large rhinestone… or even a buckle on another card using this fun set.
I hope this Ink Blended Shoe Card inspires you to experiment with ink blending and markers on larger images. It’s a simple way to build up color and dimension while keeping the design bold and stylish.
More release cards are on the way, so keep an eye out.
