I thought a Window Easel Card would be fun… and then I decided to add a swinging baby basket too 😂
One of the things I love about interactive cards is that they don’t have to be complicated to feel special. The Window Easel design already adds a fun surprise, but the swinging element gives the card even more movement and personality.
And yes, if you joined me for the live… there was definitely a little crafty engineering involved along the way 😂

Interactive Baby Card!
Have you ever made a Window Easel Card before?
Well… this is only my second one 😄 and I decided it would be a great idea to add even MORE interaction with a swinging baby basket!
HOW I BUILT THIS A2 WINDOW EASEL CARD
- Create two A2 front window panels using the same window die.
- Cut the second (back) window panel about 3/4″ longer.
- Add acetate behind the front window panel if desired.
- Score the longer back panel at 2-3/4″ and 5-1/2″.
- Adhere ONLY the upper portion of the scored back panel to the back of the front window panel, aligning the windows.
- Add a decorated A2 card base behind the 5-1/2″ score line to complete the easel design.
- Add a raised sentiment or embellishment inside the card to hold the easel in place.
BONUS IDEA:
For a larger open window effect, trim away some of the lower section of the back window panel before assembling the card. I used my paper trimmer to remove the extra cardstock while leaving about a 1/2″ border around the lower portion for support. You can see this more clearly in the video… even though I may have trimmed the wrong bit first 😂

Card Inspiration – Double the Fun!
For today’s LIVE card, I created a sweet baby boy design featuring an acetate window, soft clouds, adorable Spellbinders critters and a swinging star basket with a baby hippo tucked inside. I used a frame die but you could easily create your own window using any nesting dies you have.

I needed a baby card so I used this sweet swinging star set, but you can literally decorate your window using any images. I was inspired a floral wheelbarrow card made by the talented May Sukyong Park, and you can see it come together right here.

To hold my easel in place I layered up a die cut sentiment, but I could just as easily have used some of those cute clouds with some foam dots instead.

Also remember, having a window means that the base will be seen when the card is closed, so add a little decoration. I used a sweet tiny heart cover die, but design paper or a stenciled pattern would work well here too.

What would I have done differently?
- Did YOU notice? That I mixed up the eye and nose colors… it was easy fixed, I created a new hippo face and simply adhered it over top.
- I would have made the card a full A2 size (I didn’t realise it wasn’t lol), but the positive is that this card will actually fit into a regular Australian card size envelope.
- And if I had made the card A2 – then the middle score line would have been correct too, but that’s not a game changer as it’s not visible from the front of the card.
- I added a small strip of blue cardstock over the torn edge on the back window, caused by the paper trimmer… I will have to test out this paper more, it usually plays nice, but it’s a new pack…
Over to You!
Have you ever made a Window Easel Card before? Or maybe you’ve experimented with other easel card designs?
I’d love to hear what kind of swinging element or critter you would add to your own version of this Interactive Baby Card!
And if you give this idea a try, don’t forget to share, I always love seeing what you make 🥰
