My friend Ardyth shared this interactive fun fold and it has been sitting on my “must try” list ever since. I loved the way the front panel flips as the card opens, and I immediately started wondering how I could turn it into a Christmas card.
So, naturally, I decided to make it LIVE with you… what could possibly go wrong? 😂

Interactive Fun Fold Christmas Card!
Of course, once I decided that flip panel needed to become a little Christmas door, the ideas started coming thick and fast… As promised I have the measurements here for you
And as promised, I’ve popped the measurements for both card sizes below so you can save them somewhere handy.
INTERACTIVE FUN FOLD MEASUREMENT CHEAT SHEET
A2 Version
- Base: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
- Design Paper: 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Insert: 5″ x 8″, score at 2 1/2″, 4 1/2″ and 6″
- Design Paper: 1 3/4″ x 4 3/4″
- Design Paper: 1 1/4″ x 4 3/4″
A7 Version
- Base: 7″ x 10″, score at 5″
- Design Paper: 4 3/4″ x 6 3/4″
- Insert: 9 1/2″ x 6 1/2″, score at 3″, 5 1/2″ and 7″
- OR flip the cardstock and score at 2 1/2″ if your scoring tool isn’t long enough
- Design Paper: 2 1/4″ x 6 1/4″
- Design Paper: 1 1/4″ x 6 1/4″

Card Inspiration – Let’s Open the Door!
Oh my, what a FUN fun fold to make! I can see why Ardyth loves it so much.
It was very easy to change it up to suit my nesting arch dies and create a little doorway, but you really can use whatever you have in your stash. A simple circle die would work brilliantly too.
There are so many ways you could decorate a doorway – wreaths, bows, garlands, lanterns, presents, Christmas trees, windows, critters and more.
BONUS IDEA: I particularly like Michele’s idea to add a doggy door. 😉
I chose a beautiful bright pink poinsettia with green leaves, a wall lantern and a few simple door details. I kept the decorating fairly simple because today was really about trying a new-to-me fun fold and sharing the process with you.
And now that I know how easily this mechanism works, I can already see so many other possibilities for it!
What would I have done differently?
- I think a colored cardstock background would have looked nice here and it would have also highlighted the panel that was added to the inside.
- And I am still on the fence (yes, you could also add one of those too) about adding a Christmas tree to the right side of the doorway.
