Video : Gelato Background by Request!

Hiya, today I’m back by request as I was asked ‘how’ I created this Gelato background here.  It was heaps of fun to do and not ‘too messy’ for my precious hands.  Not sure how it happened but the front panel ended up taking over, although I do still like that the texture and colour that shows around the edge.

You can see my video here or Watch it in HD at Youtube.

Summer Love - Detail

Summer Love

I wanted to make a card for my parents 50th wedding anniversary and I knew my mother would adore this Summer Love image from Penny Black, therefore the happy couple have my Mum’s red hair and my Dad’s dark brown…   although it hasn’t been that for a long time lol.   They are both amazing people and I am so lucky to have them in my life, BIG hugs and congrats to you both x.

  1. This is the sweetest image, and I love how you watercolored these little cuties! Love your Gelato background, too!

  2. Ooow I was the very lucky recipient of the original cardinal Chrissy card and I wondered how you achieved that background – now I know. Certainly creates a gorgeous effect. What a beautiful card for your Mum and Dad too.

  3. What a beautiful card for your mum and dad. Massive congratulations to them both, 50 years, that’s a lot of compromising and letting things go.

  4. What a soft and pretty background. I think I will have to try this sometime soon! How sweet that you colored the little children like your parents. They are going to be so pleased to receive this card!

  5. Congrats to your parents on their anniversary! How wonderful for them! Your card will surely bring smiles to them, and they’ll get a kick out of the sweet little redhead and brunette! Your video is wonderful. Your watercoloring always has me mesmerized, and thanks so much for sharing your gelato technique; never was bold enough to use mine…. LOVE those 50s Diner colors. Sweet card! Have a wonderful week.

  6. Loved watching you colour this adorable image, Therese … how fabulous that your little girl and boy were based on your Mum and Dad! Many congratulations to them on their Golden Anniversary! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  7. Watercolouring has become my very favorite effect and medium but it has been a challenging two years to “feel” confident (notice I did not say competent! 🙂 )! Wet on wet is my favorite look. I LOVED your video…your blending (especially in his jeans and shirt) is wonderful! Loved the gesso/gelato background…it looks so much like a worn-wood panel! Can’t wait to try that! Thank you so very much for the instructive video!

  8. A great effort by your parents. Lucky you to have them and appreciate them.
A gorgeous card. Finally got to watch the video. Please tell me the area out of screen shot is a real miss – when I colour I have things everywhere! Your space is so clean and tidy 🙂

  9. Happy Anniversary to your parents, and they are sure to LOVE this delightful card 🙂
