Video : Altenew Crafty Friends Blog Hop & Giveaway!

I am so excited to be here as part of Altenew’s first Crafty Friends Blog Hop, and this is huge!  We are already on our second day of hopping and you should have arrived here from the amazing land of Sandy Allnock!

And if you have a minute….

My little crafty story, how I got ‘on-the-line’…  As is what happens, I sat on the papercraft blog sidelines for ages (years, actually), I watched and was inspired but was too nervous to even comment (computers and me were never very happy together, but the more I watched, the more I learned).  What was the tipping point?   I went to a coffee meet and greet with the gorgeous Dawn McVey who was visiting Australia at the time and I met my most amazing crafty friend Linda.  I remember saying to her, ‘Do you think I should start a blog?’…   her answer was ‘Yes’ and when I asked ‘Do you think I should send some cards into the magazine?’….  her answer was ‘Of course, Yes!’.  All this and she had no idea what my card making style or abilities were at the time lol.  What an amazing and supportive community we live in and my advice to you if you are even thinking about it, why not just do it, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain, my papercraft world opened up when I went ‘on-the-line’ and I have my incredible papercrafty friend Linda (who now has her own Youtube channel too, you go GF!) to thank for that!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

This gorgeous Build-A-Flower: Anemone has not seen enough love from me so along with the assistance of the MISTI I pumped out a few flowers, chopped them out with the coordinating dies (Yay! included with the stamps) and popped them on some fab Moonrock cardstock.

Altenew - BAF - Anemone - Halftone Circles - Lostinpaper (card video) 1 copy

The Halftone Circles stamp set provided the perfect sentiment for this hop and I just adore the tone on tone look that the Crystal Clear Embossing Powder gives on the Dark Gray cardstock.  Seriously what’s not to love! Altenew - BAF - Anemone - Halftone Circles - Lostinpaper (card video) 1 copy

I did film the process today,
You can see my video here or Watch it in HD at Youtube.

  1. The colors you picked for the flowers are perfect! Maybe Altenew should have you doing the color combos! I love your crafty stories, I do think the crafty bloggers are the most supportive! I love your videos and your great accent 🙂 I went out on a limb today and posted a video. It’s not very good, but I think it accomplishes my goal of sharing a technique. Have a good day!

  2. Gorgeous card, Therese! I love how you layered all those beautiful colors on each flower! Clever tone-on-tone embossing on the sentiment, too!

  3. Thank you for sharing your story. I recently made a web page just to show my card creations, but am a little scared to do the whole blog thing. You’ve given me a little more confidence. I follow you, and have cased many of your designs and this card is just as lovely as all the rest

  4. I think the colours you selected for the flowers and leaves were awesome. They look so well together. I love your videos, they’re so clear and easy to follow. I think your accent is great (I lived in Australia for a year a long time ago and fell in love with the Aussie accent) and think your laugh is so infectious, it makes me laugh too. Thanks for sharing your paper crafting talents.

  5. Love your crafting story. I enjoy watching your videos, too. Altenew’s floral stamp sets are beautiful. Fun hop celebrating crafty friendships and collaboration.

  6. This is a beautiful card. I am loving the Build A Flower sets…..cannot wait to see more samples….thank you so much for sharing…hugs

  7. I so love watching your videos Therese. After reading how you started, I am so glad you were encouraged to post your beautiful creations. Thank you for the opportunity to win.

  8. Beautiful flowers and great card. But then, I have never not liked one of your cards (no, really!) You are also the queen of CAS cards and get so jealous that I can’t make myself stop where you would. One day I’ll conquer my fear of white space!

  9. Here I sit on the sidelines just like you. I too am not computer savvy! I am not even sure how to post a picture. I am sure it cannot be that hard but am thankful to those of you who do and inspire me daily. For that I am thankful.

  10. i’m so glad you got online ’cause i really enjoy all your videos – and your commentaries are the best along with your gorgeous card!!

  11. Wow! What a beautiful card! I love this crafting community and the fact that it can bring people together from all over the world. I have “met” some wonderful friends in places like Florida (USA) and even New Zealand!

  12. Beautiful card! Love your videos and instructions! They are always packed with great tips, easy to follow instructions, and your amazing sense of humor.

  13. Gorgeous card Therese! Love the colors. Thanks for sharing your story, your friend was right! I am glad you decided to share with us! Thank you! I have been crafting over 15 years now, I craft for my family, friends and teachers and have tried many crafts but paper crafting has become a favorite of mine lately! And I am glad I have met a few crafty friends through challenges and fun hops like this! Thanks for all you do to make this a brighter world!

  14. This is beautiful…..wonderful colors. It’s always fun to see what you create and as for Altenew, they’ve given us some great designs to use as we create. I think they just get better and better as time goes on! 🙂

  15. Although it’s fun to try to win something…….I think you are the good stuff. Wonderful video and excellent, colorful card!

  16. Thank You Therese, just love how confident you are to try mixing your colours and they really work well ! Also, love your giggle in some of your videos…makes me smile too 🙂

  17. I have only recently stumbled across your videos, and I have to say wow love your cards the colours you have picked are gorgeous.

  18. Absolutely gorgeous… the colours you choose for the flowers are perfect and I’m loving the tone on tone embossing you did for the sentiment…it was great to read about how you got started as I have been admiring your cards in the Australian CSP magazine for years..

  19. I remember that day we met so well and I treasure our friendship and our crafty catch ups. I’m so glad my encouragement led to you sharing your gorgeous talent with all of us. How lucky are we! Xx

  20. So enjoyed your “no fuss” video – informative and chatty . Keep going – I love watching the variety of techniques you show in your videos

  21. I love reading all the crafty friend stories on the hop. My crafty Australian friend Lorraine taught me about stamping and is now following you Therese, just like I am from many, many miles away – isn’t that fun!

  22. Lovely card. I like that you did similar but different colors. Thank you for sharing your story. Mine is a little similar (the sidelines!) but I have no intention of doing a blog. The only cards I share are those I give people..and when I run out of people, there’s always a card drive. (or the two people in my life that I give stacks of cards to when they threaten to over-run the house! Thank you for this bit of loveliness!

  23. I saw this card on instagram and thought oh wow its beautiful! I love your on the line story and it is encouraging to have a supportive friend.

  24. i just love all your videos. you do some very great creative things….look forward to seeing more.
Thanks for sharing. I love these flowers…so pretty.

  25. This is so pretty!! Love the layered flowers and the colors you chose. Beautiful design!! Thanks for sharing your story!

  26. I’ve followed you for a long time now, and watched your YouTube vids. My taste in card making has changed throughout the years. I like a lot of card makers, but you’re really a favorite of mine. I’m so broke because I just want to buy the same stamps and make the same cards as you. I’m trying, but you’re so much better than me ; )

  27. Your card and the stamp set are gorgeous. Loved your crafty story and am so glad you started your blog. Your creativity is such a great inspiration to me.

  28. Love the flowers! I’m just getting started being online now too after a long time on the sidelines! It’s scary but you’re right everyone is so nice and supportive! It’s a great community!

  29. I love your work and all of your videos. Thank you so much for everything I’ve learned from you. You are so very talented.

  30. I am living the CAS cards lately a lot! Each card has their place in how elaborate they get and for who it’s for. I have so loved your cards and glean something from every tutorial you do. This one as well. Thanks for sharing with us!

  31. Beautiful anemones and I LOVE these colors with the Moonrock background. Thanks for sharing your crafting story, love the supportive group of crafters online, such a wonderful community and YOU are such a regular inspiration! Thanks for another awesome video too

  32. Love the card! Altenew is one of my favorite stamp companies. My good friend Linda and I have bonded over card making. We live far apart but enjoy chatting about our newest creations.

  33. Great card, as always. So glad you set up your blog & videos which always inspire, & it’s nice to have a downunder touch too, maybe I should at least add some of my cards to instagram or something.

  34. Love the inspiration of this blog hop.
Your choice of stamp set and inks are perfect.
    Thanks so much.
    Cheers
    Lisa

  35. Love this amazing card, such a great colour combination. And I really enjoy watching your videos, always inspiring and fun.

  36. I’m glad that your friends encouraged you to start a blog. At your turn you inspire us !
Thank you for sharing your beautiful card !

  37. I love your beautiful card. I think I need to add these build a flower stamp sets to my crafting supplies. This anemone set is lovely!

  38. Altenew has the best products. Love their stamps, ink, dies, and stencils . Everything is easy to use and makes beautiful cards. Love everything they come out with.

  39. WOW Therese, this is amazing!
I cannot believe you had to ask a friend if you should start your blog??? You are amazingly talented!

  40. Beautiful card. Thanks for including the video. Since I don’t have any crafty friends I really rely on the wonderful videos everyone shares.

  41. Beautiful blooms, Therese … love that unexpected blue-grey in the leaves … it’s gorgeous with the soft colours in the flowers! Enjoyed your crafty story … yep, crafty friends are the best … and yes, we all get each other! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  42. I love these layering stamps. Still a little nervous about trying them. I should jump right in after watching how easy you make it look!

  43. Gorgeous coloring on those flowers! Just think what we all would have missed if you didnt listen to your friend! Thanks for the encouragement!

  44. I agree that mixing color families within flowers yields wonderful new combinations! And the moonrock cardstock was the perfect background. It’s a beautiful card!

  45. Very pretty and love the color choices. Am really enjoying Altenew’s Crafty Friends blog hop. Since the crafting community is simply the best. Just like Atlenew’s stamps!

  46. Beautiful card. I love the layering stamps that you can use stamp pads with because I’m not very good at blending yet. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.

  47. I read your story and how you took the leap and got started… how do you get started? I am right there. I have been watching for years and think I need to start filming and start a blog BUT what do I need – where do I start?? (I need a video for that lol)

  48. Your card is beautiful! Great tutorial video with all the steps included. I like the dark great instead of black. What a nice contrast and cutting the edges off to make the large images was a good idea. I know I try to crowd everything all on the top of the card and sometimes a little ‘editing’ is just what is needed. 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely work!

  49. The color combo you selected are just beautiful. Thanks for the technique video, liked your tip on the seal & press, never thought of that to assist in arranging die cuts on a card.

  50. A beautiful card for sure! I have the pansy and the rose but I see I really need to purchase this one also. Love the colors they are among my favorites. Thanks so much for sharing your talent. Blessings

  51. Great card. I wouldn’t have thought to use a blue for my leaves but it really works. Makes me think of other colours. Thanks for sharing

  52. Another gorgeous card.
I agree crafty bloggers are the most supportive. I was on the side for a while too (after I found SBB & ABS) and wouldn’t have started and stayed blogging if I hadn’t had the support – Thank you 🙂

  53. I love this card! The colors you used are the anemones are just stunning! Die-cutting the flowers and layering really made the card pop!

  54. Great card, lovely colours especially the leaves. I enjoyed your voice over in the video verry much. Love it when people talk in there video’s if they are talking to me and if they made a mistake (or don’t know the name of something at that time) they don’t cut it out.

  55. Beautiful card! The colour combination is beautiful! Thanks for sharing your crafty story with us and for taking a chance and listening to your friend’s advice!

Thanks for visiting! I'd love to hear what you have to say.
