Video : Altenew March 2018 Stamp/Die Release Blog Hop & Giveaway!

Today I have some ‘Mega’ tips in my video to share for the new release at Altenew!  If you are hopping along you should have arrived from FLORA’s fabulous blog.

I have two cards and one video, starting with a very clean & simple design using the Neighborhood Stamp Set.  This is a fun set with some great elements and sentiments and I decided to use just a portion of the main street image.

Altenew - Neighborhood - Pegboard - Therese Calvird (card) 1 copy

I added a subtle background by embossing the Pegboard Canvas Cover Die and popped up a Heart Beat red sentiment.

Altenew - Neighborhood - Pegboard - Therese Calvird (card) 1 copy

I had so much fun creating my second card using the background Mega Succulent Stamp Set and my Zigs to colour.

Altenew - Mega Succulent - Miss You - Therese Calvird (card video) 1 copy

I thought it needed a bold sentiment so used the negative space of the Miss You die cut from some Jet Black cardstock.

I decided to film the process.
You can see my video here or Watch it in HD at Youtube.

  5. Lovely cards! I am inspired. Each stop on the hop gets better and better. The coloring on the succulent card is fabulous!

  6. Love your two cards. The first one is very simple, but with lots of interest added in the embossed pegboard background. The second one is beautiful with terrific Zig water-coloring and love how the negative die cut image is used. TFS your talent and great technique ideas!

  7. Beautiful cards!! The first one is super adorable and the coloring on the second one is just stunning, love the new “Mega Succulent” set. 🙂

  8. Your neighborhood card is really sweet, and I loved your use of the mega succulent design. That one is a bit tricky to use, I would think, but your card is beautiful. Thanks for the tips! 🙂

  9. Your creations are always wonderful. The new large succulent stamp is very interesting and certainly has many uses. Thank you for your video.

  10. WOW! What an amazing release! I absolutely love the floral stamps – especially the sweet rose bouquet – and I love to stitch on cards, so I can’t wait to get the cross stitch die. Thanks for all the inspiration! Your cards never disappoint!

  11. Absolutely GORGEOUS succulent and I love how you added the embossed background to your ‘neighborhood’ card…so sweet!

  12. I love how you have embossed the background with the pegboard die. I keep forgetting you can use dies to emboss. I just love the simple look of the new home card. Very inspirational

  13. Wow, love the succulent card.
The greens are so beautiful and I really like the fact that it fills a whole card front.
Already on my Altenew wish list!
Love both the cards you’ve created.
    Cheers
    Lisa

  14. I have a succulent in my back yard that I love and care for, which means having a love/hate relationship with a Cardinal that comes to chew the leaves and eat them. He’s lucky that he’s so pretty. ha-ha Cute cards.

  15. That mega succulent stamp is so lovely. Excited to see you use it.. I love your new home card as well, the prettiness of simplicity is the style I am drawn to ..

  16. The way you colored that succulent is stunning! I love how you used a touch of purple. And the color of embossing powder added some fun! Thank you!

  17. Therese, you’ve used two of the three favourites I have in this release & I just love what you did with them! The neighbourhood is such a cute die & I adore the mega succulent too. You coloured it so very well. Thanks for the video.

  18. What a great stamp. I really like succulents and embossing with green, great idea. That card is awesome Therese. Love watching you work.

  19. Wonderful cards! The first one…such a sweet card (and I’m not usually a fan of buildings, but love this one). The succulent….what can I say…I’m a wee bit partial. LOVE it. Beautifully done ♥

  20. Both your cards are just so amazing.I am head over heels in love with your neighborhood card and the perfect little scene you have created there…Your coloring on the succulent is beautiful too.

  21. Such a stunning card! I really like how you used the florescent green embossing powder for that extra pop of color. Since I have that embossing powder and the zig markers I’m stealing your idea as soon as i can order the stamp!😁. BTW, succulents have leaves so you were spot on with your guessing. TFS. I’m a loyal follower who is always watching my inbox for videos from you!!

  22. A fabulous new release from Altenew! I’ve commented on the succulent card via youtube, but I’m back to compliment you on the clean and simple New Home card – I just love it! That happy red is super – especially in the sentiment!

  23. Terrific cards. I love the neighborhood stamps. It makes such a nice card for a new neighbor or someone getting a new house. Thanks for sharing!

  25. Seriously beautiful cards! I love the clean look of the first card, and the stunning colouring of the succulent!

  26. Just adore both the cards.
Love what you’ve done with the succulent stamp though. The colours are amazing and really enjoyed how you’ve used the reverse image of the word die, so very clever.

  27. Oh my goodness Therese your neighbourhood card is adorable, ♥ it! Of your you did an amazing job on your succulent, just gorgeous.

  28. With the risk of repeating myself I just love your work, your style and your kindness – great cards and such a great company to work with – Altenew is so innovative no wonder they are so popular

  29. I love how you used the pegboard cover die to add texture to the happy home card…what a wonderful way to add texture. The mega succulent card is GORGEOUS! I absolutely love the coloring you did and using the negative space for the greeting was a great touch

  30. That is one seriously beautiful stamp, and you have given me the courage to attempt to paint those colors. I keep wondering how to get the pink tips without making a muddy color, but it seems to work ok, so I am willing to give it a try! Thank you.

  31. I always look forward to seeing what you’ve created when you participate on Altenew blog hops. You have an fun ability to put a fun twist on using the supplies in a somewhat unexpected way. Love todays cards – you absolutely lived up to my expectations – these cards have the unexpected touches and are beautiful!

  32. Wow! That succulent is so gorgeous and bold. I love your water color technique and tips along the way. It turned out beautifully. Thank you for sharing.

  33. The first card is adorable, how cute! The second card is very nice as well, I also love the mega succulent stamp.

  34. Your shading on the succulent image is just wonderful…perseverance certainly pays off! I really also like the Pegboard Canvas CD…it looks wonderfully useful, this is a HUGE hop! I will have to set some hours aside to go visiting, Dix

  35. What a sweet little neighbourhood, Therese … delicious background texture! Your succulent is stunning … there’s such a fantastic sense of depth and dimension to your colouring … loved seeing it all happen! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  36. Loving all the white space on the first card, the houses are darling, and the succulent is just so bold and beautiful in the second!

  37. Such beautiful cards – I particularly like the Succulent! I am rather new to cardmaking and certainly learned from you well-done video. Thanks!

  38. Fantastic cards! Just the crispness of color and wonderful CAS layout of the first. The second is just stunning with the wonderfully colored succulent.

  39. A fabulous video for a beautiful card ! Love your green embossing, so cool to outline the succulent petals. And I love your creative way for the sentiment. Stunning showcase. Thanks for sharing !

  40. I always love your ideas and am so glad you usually have videos too. I love this mega succulent. I am going to have to get that in my mailbox 🙂

  41. Therese, am in love with your warm and sweet home card! The succulent card is gorgeous too!! Am so enthralled with the inspiration of this talented line up of designers!

  42. I love that card with the street scene, very cute indeed. The cactus stamp looks great and I think using that bright green embossing powder was quite inspired. Thanks for sharing the video.

  43. I am in love with both of your cards, Therese! That first card is just so cute…I love cards with a lot of white space! And the succulent card is colored so beautifully…it is a real eyecatcher!! Thanks so much for making a video that shows us how you made these very creative cards. I so appreciate it!!

  44. Love both of your cards Therese! I really enjoyed watching you watercolour the succulent with the Zigs and it turned out beautifully!

  45. That succulent is gorgeous, Therese, and the green embossing powder was the way to go. I have a tendency to blend out my Zigs too much so I enjoy picking up tips as I watch you color.

  46. Hi Therese. LOVE your designs as always. Am loving this release with all those fabulous stamps and dies, but find I keep getting drawn to the Hope stamps and dies. ANOTHER product for my wish list, which is becoming ridiculously l o o o o n g. Thanks for your inspiration. Am going hunting back through your designs for your grey flower and leaf cards. I’ve never thought of using greys, but your designs have just stuck in my head and I’ve started colouring / cutting greys, but I’m not satisfied with my designs, so off to find yours for more inspiration, hehehehe. TFS. BEv.

  47. I’m back again – so sorry. I found your grey and purple peony 3d die card, but I’m really rotten on the computer, and I’m sure you have done others as well with the grey flowers. That one stuns me every time I look at it. I wonder if you’d mind if I tried to replicate it? I don’t have the same cardstock, so it wouldn’t be exactly the same. Anyway, won’t do anything about it until you say I can. Do you have somewhere I can find all your cards? Sorry, I’m a giant pain in the butt, I know.

    1. Hi Bev,
It would make me very happy if you CASE’d my card design, that’s why I put them out there and that’s where I get inspiration too. What a wonderful community we have, and if you want to, I would love to see your design! Have a fabulous day, Hugs Therese

  48. Using the green embossing on the succulent was perfect. Lovely colouring as well. Plus your other card is just lovely too

  49. I’m glad you stuck with it through the ugly hot mess stage of the watercolouring process – the finished result looks awesome

  50. You’re water colouring was so worth the little hassle hot mess stage as the finished result is soooooo brilliant, wish even my hot messes looked as good as yours, must mail you a shot of a real oow ! Loving the neighborhood die, really needed that 6 months ago when my daughter got her first ‘ adult’ house.

  51. I’m coveting the cross stitch and the canvas cover dies because I like how they are so versatile. I like how you embossed it to get a completely different look for the background of your card.

  52. I loved the elegance of “happy new home”. the embossed white background made your die cuts and coloring stand out even more so! Thank you!

  53. Gorgeous cards! The embossing on the first card added a great backdrop to both the sentiment and the row of houses. Thanks for the inspiration.

  54. Wow. I would not have looked twice at the mega succulent stamp. But watching how beautiful it became with your water coloring, I am in love with it! Thank you for all your inspiration!

  55. You might be the only person ever to look at that neon green and think “I could no-line with that!” 😀 But somehow, it works! The magic of soldiering on with watercolor. I really like how you got those purple shades in there. I think I would have been to scared to try it, but you can’t argue with those results! Also, what a great idea to use the negative space of the sentiment. I think that creates an entirely different look than the positive and adds a lot of interest. Thanks for sharing such a great card with us!

  56. Love your little row of houses! So sweet! Your Miss You card is lovely! I love how you used the negative for the sentiment!

  57. Stunning card! So relaxing watching you paint 😀 Thanks for the acetate tip when using the negative space for the sentiment. ♥️

  58. I’m going to have to have that pegboard canvas and houses stamp set… love how you’ve used them together and the succulent looks awesome too xx

  59. Beautiful card! I love that succulent stamp, it really makes a statement! Love the idea of using the green embossing too!

Thanks for visiting! I'd love to hear what you have to say.
