Video : Simple Watercolour Background & Beach Lady!

It’s so easy to create a scene, a watercolour scene that is!  Though, probably the hardest part for me is to wait for it to dry between layers, but I am getting better lol.

I thought it would be fun to create a ‘watercoloury’ striped dress on my Beach Lady and I wasn’t really sure how I was going to do this…  but that’s the beauty of watercolours, they are quite forgiving really.

I added a bespoke sentiment using the Altenew Tall Alpha stamp set and I did use my MISTI, just in case.

I am now in Western Australia and thought I would share some snippets from when we crossed the Nullabor.

it’s only 200,000 sq km (77,000 sq miles) large……..

and watch out for those kangaroos, wombats and camels???

the Great Australian Bight.

AND I also just had to share this photo of our Navi, I typed in ‘Perth’ and our next turn was 1047kms (650miles) away and the destination was 21+ hours, although we did actually take a much longer route to get to Perth.

Thanks for stopping by today, I’ll be back when I can, Hugs

  1. Such a sweet card! Watercolors are so much fun to work with, eve though I don’t always get the results I expected! I’m so happy that you shared some photos from your travel adventures. SO fun to see them!!!

  2. Love your water coloured card Therese. I am also enjoying the photos of your trip. Yes, beware of the camels – I saw a film about The Ghan last week and evidently the camels can do a lot of damage to that huge train. Loved Ollie – so cute when he took off with his toy?

  3. Thanks for sharing some of your wonderful trip. I live in the USA and will never make it to your fascinating country, but love seeing pictures of it! Your card was really cute and loved that it was watercolored.

  4. That card is so sweet – love your watercolour background and your custom sentiment! Love your pics too – so funny seeing the camel sign next to the wombat and kangaroo!!!

  5. Really cute card. Don’t know how you do it in a camper. Isn’t the West coast beautiful. So rugged. That camper looks interesting Therese – I would love to know the name of it. Enjoy your holiday.

  6. Love your lady having a walk on this dreamy beach ! Your background is stunning and your colouring fabulous! Nice pictures too! They remind me when we went from Sidney to Cairns by motor home with the two kids, some days were only driving days but we did see the kangaroos! Such beautiful souvenirs! Have fun with the rest of your trip! x

  7. Love Love your card….. You made the watercolour look so easy too…. Loved the Bite photo, the Great Ocean Road are iconic drives here in Ausralia, Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday…

  8. Fabulous card Therese and love her outfit and the slight reflection at the bottom of the words, totally cool. Now just loved that outfit you were wearing in that shot at night truly stella stunning with those long socks hey and had to laugh with the next turn on the navigator, what a crack up. Must be chilly at night out there but perfect during the days. Keep enjoying your time away and drive careful.

  9. I was just watching the video and realised there is no reflection in the water, it was reflection on the glass, just adjusted my blonde wig again lol

  10. Love your pretty card and that big alpha is fun. The watercolor dress is perfect. Do you regularly have wombat crossing signs in Australia? Pretty sure we only have deer crossing signs, maybe a random duck crossing sign, but those might be decorative!

  11. Lovely card and great technique on the dress! And I’m really enjoying the stories and photos you’ve been sharing of your trip – thanks!

  12. Your card is beautiful and very refreshing !
Thank you so much to share your fantastic adventure with us (wow, a straight road for over 1000 km !!!! Would not be possible in Switzerland – LOL !!!). Your little furry crafting assistant is absolutely adorable….

  13. Thank you Therese for sharing some of your trip pictures with us. WOW! That would make you want to fall asleep, good thing you have lots to talk about on that very long stretch of hwy! Keep each other awake! Your card gave me a fun idea! Don’t know when I will have time for it …. LOL!

  14. Love your cards, but so enjoying your trip photos. My hubby is originally from Aus an has been enjoying your updates, too. Thanks for sharing!

  15. Thanks for another great video! Also, I’m really enjoying all your photos and stories while you are on this trip. What a great adventure you are on. By the way are their gas stations and stores along the way as you are going through this plains area? It looks pretty barren.

    1. Hi Sheron, Yes there are fuel stations along the way. They call them ‘towns’ on the map but really they are usually just a couple of buildings that sell food and expensive fuel(about $2 per litre). Some of them have very basic accommodation attached but most people tend to ‘free’ camp along the roadside. thanks so much for your lovely comments and for visiting, Crafty hugs, Therese

  16. Love your pictures and tales of your adventures! Thanks for keeping in touch and sharing your wonderful projects along the way, too!

  17. I’m so with you on matching panels to card bases, Therese … I do the same thing! Beach lady looks so cute in her striped dress … what a great background you painted for her! Ollie’s a sweetie … good to see I’m not the only one who has ‘help’ available when crafting! Awesome pictures … what a wonderful adventure … enjoy Perth … such a great place! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  18. Love your card – those ‘leading ladies’ are so cute! I am enjoying your trip videos & photos – wow, some pretty amazing views! These photos remind me of the drive from Colorado to California in the US – such a variety of landscapes. Love the clip of Ollie – the way he took that toy snake & ‘strutted’ off like he was so proud of himself – so funny! One of my cats looks very similar to Ollie.

  19. Thanks for the photos, love the kitty, love your card, the sentiment says it all!

  20. Awesome card!
Enjoy Perth it’s an awesome place. Some great spots in WA. Enjoying your pics haven’t travelled much since having kiddos so these are great reminders! 🙂

  21. Such a simply background but so effective…might even be able to manage this one myself!! Love the holiday photos, Australia is such a beautiful country. Looks like you had a fab time!!
