Video : Altenew Watercolor 36 Pan Set Release Blog Hop & Giveaway!

Oh Yay, would you believe that Altenew have done it again, they have now released a set of Watercolors, and there are 36 half pans and lots of Altenew colours that we have come to know and love!  To celebrate we are hopping along and you should have arrived here from LISA’s wonderful blog.

I wasn’t sure where to start exactly so I created my own watercolour background and with the ‘left over’ piece I stamped and coloured the beautiful Peony Spray flower.

My sentiment is stamped from the Oriental Orchid Stamp Set on a die cut Watercolor Stripes Cover Die.

Everything was popped up on a card front and some enamel dots were added.  I just love how everything coordinates!

I decided to film the unboxing and painting process.
You can see my video here or Watch it in HD at Youtube.

    1. Wow….. you have inspired me to play with watercolours more….they do scare me a little, but I need to get them out again & play 🙂

  1. Love the die cut with the water colors behind it. Elegant with the flower on the side and the sentiment being small. Thanks for sharing

  2. I love the Altenew colors and think the watercolors are are brilliant. Love your card. Growing up I was always told not to have pinks and oranges together, but that’s wrong. It’s a great combination.

  3. Thanks for sharing and for the chance to win. I want to try these watercolors out- they look very vibrant and I appreciate that they will pair so well with their inks!

  4. Love your card Therese. Hop you are still enjoying your holiday adventure. I’d been scouring the websites for these for the past few days and ordered mine here in the UK early this morning, hours before the e-mail was issued. Didn’t want to take any chances on not getting mine first time around. I’ll need to wait for them to arrive from the US, but it’ll be worth it.

  5. Hi Therese! I’m sorry I haven’t been visiting your blog and just leaving love for you on YT…Your card is absolutely GORGEOUS! Such a beautiful mix of colors and the cover plate is perfect with this lovely bloom!
Thanks so much for another great video tutorial! I hope you and hubby are still having fun on your holiday!!!

  6. I love the pinks and oranges you used on the rose. So gorgeous!! I love this new watercolor set. It has some beautiful colors!

  7. Such a beautiful card Therese – love that watercolor stripes die – it’s on my long list to buy 🙂

  8. I can why these watercolors would be great…I love your background and matching your flower to it….great looking card.
    well done tfs

  9. One of my very favorite stamps. And what a beautiful combination of colors you chose to bring this image to life! Love it!

  10. Beautiful card and a great video! Really worked out well stamping on the background you created and using that as the base layer for your flower. Thanks for sharing!

  11. What an absolutely gorgeous card! I love that you used the watercolor stripe cover die and left it white to layer over your watercolor! Thanks for the great inspiration!

  12. Therese – I love your videos. Your color choices for the peony are gorgeous. And the final card is WOW!

  13. I had already ordered these watercolors before I got to your blog, because I had seen your card in the group on the order page and loved it, along with some others. As you say, there is a ton of talent in this group and the inspiration level is always high! Thanks!

  14. Hi I love the pinks in the background and the wonderful white striped border die across it. The contrast really makes the pinks shine. Is that a cold or hot press watercolor paper? What is the difference between the two? I always enjoy your videos and look forward to watching this one tomorrow when I am working out. It makes me enjoy my workout to hear a friendly voice! Hope you are enjoying your summer travels! Thanks again for always inspiring me!

    1. Hi Liz, I can’t remember for sure but I think it was actually the ‘hot’ pressed watercolor cardstock that I used (because I said it was smooth). That is the main difference between the two types, the hot pressed is smoother and the paint will dry quicker (good for wash type backgrounds) and the cold pressed has more ‘tooth’ a slightly rougher surface (but not as much as the ‘rough’ finished watercolor cardstock). hahaha, I just re read that and was wondering if it made any sense at all. thanks so much for your lovely comments and for visiting, Crafty hugs, Therese

  15. Absolutely love this! A watercolour set that is compact, easy to carry around, that co-ordinates with all my Altenew Inks. Love that the pans can be taken out so that individual colours can be replaced that are used more often. And the card inspiration is awesome!

  16. Your card is beautiful and I love how you did the background with the white die cut over it. and what a genius idea to create your flower using what you had cut off of the background!

  17. Just beautiful! I think using the previously painted piece for the flower was a great idea as the underpainting makes it blend so perfectly!

  59. I think your watercoloring looks very professional, so maybe I CAN do some of this. Thanks for telling that not all of the dark pans are truly dark colors. i love your final card and listening to you speak… video should be longer. LOL

  60. Your card turned out so beautiful! I like how you used your leftover background to stamp the peony on. Sometimes starting with white paper can be so intimidating.

  61. What an amazing card!!! I love the watercolored background, and the die-cutted panel and the gorgeous flower! Your technique of water-coloring the paper and then stamping on it and then adding more color is really great and I must try it! Thank you also for the great giveaway!
