Here we go, getting all Dynamic at Altenew! So after I thought long and hard (for a couple of seconds) I decided I would share a fun, easy technique that I rarely use but adore the look of… and every time I do this I wonder why I don’t do it more often lol. This post is part of a Blog Hop so you should have arrived here from HEIDI’s wonderful Blog!
My technique today is dry embossing using die cuts and I used the Mega Ampersand as my focal point. And I was inspired by my beautiful and talented friend Michele and this card HERE (thank you gorgeous!). I have a video showing how easy it is to do this and you can find the link and also find out how you can WIN if you scroll down.
The flowers were a mix of leftovers and some newbies that I created from the Layered Floral Elements Die set.
My second version is the ‘opposite’, it is debossed and this time I used a different colour combination to amp(ersand) it up a bit.
On both card designs I used sentiments from the Holiday Wishes and Starry Night Stamp Sets.
You can see my video here or Watch it in HD at YouTube.

Love this technique! Thanks for sharing your beautiful cards!
Both your cards are so beautiful and what a lovely technique to highlight using the dies.Thank you so much for the inspiration. I am so in love with that ampersand die and the layered florals â¤ï¸
Beautiful, bright cards. Have never seen this technique before and it looks amazing. I like the green one best. The olive tone of the Forest Glades card really sets off the flowers.
These cards are so pretty! I love a non-traditional Christmas card. I have never tried this technique, need to give it a try. TFS.
Oh boy I love these two cards, Therese. The colors are really clean and pretty, and I love the impression made by the die. Perfect!

Very creative how you made your own embossing folder. Cute card and love Altenew stamp sets.
Love your video’s too.
I can’t decide whether I like the embossed or debossed card best. Both are beautiful.
I love this technique but I really am inspired by the color themes you used! Your cards make me want to buy ALL the alphabet dies to make everyone a card with their initial.
Gorgeous! I love this technique every time i see it done and yet have never done it…. This weekend perhaps!?
I love both the embossing and debossed look but very rarely do I ever try it. Thank you for the inspiration!
Great inspiration! Have to try this.
the flowers are just adorable, pretty colors too!
luv the look. it’s a great way to give our dies some more attention!!

Thanks for sharing this technique, Therese! It’s been a while since I have done it and now I must see what die I can use to make something similar to yours.
What a great technique! I love the blue one! The CAS look is really stunning!
FABULOUS cards, Therese!
I was trying to figure out why was the paper looking so green in the video and so blue in the photos – then realised that there are two cards – haha – I obviously need to get my coffee so brain will fire up – great idea using the die to emboss/deboss the background – great cards Therese as usual 🙂
Love these. I’m going to give it a go.
Would never thought to use the Mega Ampersand that way, but it sure works. Like both versions, but am partial to the green.
Love the non traditional take, your cards are clean and cheerful, thanks for the inspiration Therese!
Such a creative use for the ampersand die, thanks for sharing this technique!
These are magnificent! Love your fabulous cards.
Love both of these beautiful color combos!
Very classy! I liked both colors and all the texture to the designs.
I think this Layered Floral die set is going to be a new favorite. Love the way you used the flowers to create a design around the ampersand!
Very clever, now I am racking my brain to think of other words suitable for this kind of card. Well done.
Fabulous, Therese!
I like the different idea. Especially loving the card with the bright colors!
Great idea and such versatile dies as you say, thank you.
Thanks for reminding us of this technique. I don’t even remember when was the last time I had tried it.
Wonderful cards, Therese! Love the embossing and debossing–that ampersand is versatile, indeed!
Your constantly amaze me with your creativity. Just a lovely set of cards.

So beautiful! I love the dry embossing and the gorgeous colours you have used!
I didn’t think I’d need this die but you showed an awesome way of using it. Thanks for the inspiration.
Beautiful cards Therese! I love that they are not real traditional. Your video was great…. Like they always are. I have a tip for you. You can also lightly mist your card stock with alcohol before embossing or de-bossing. It helps to relax the paper for a better impression.
I had heard of spraying the card stock lightly with water before dry embossing, but haven’t heard to try alcohol, I must give that a go! thanks so much for your lovely comments, Crafty hugs, Therese
Love the look…the embossing and pop of color.
Wow! Bright and beautiful cards!! Love them! <3
Both of your cards are gorgeous! I love the look of the ampersand dry embossed and debossed on the card front. 🙂
This was a great idea! I’d love to win this.
Fabulous cards! Love all the die cuts and pops of color.
Thanks for sharing love the design
I love that you did “opposites” with the cards. Sometimes my brain forgets that I can do that(lol!) and I like to see other possibilities! So pretty!
Such a change to see lovely bright colourful Christmas cards. Here in Scotland in the UK we usually have snow and our cards usually reflect this.
Such pretty cards! I love the embossed ampersand and the beautiful flowers! Beautiful color combos!
Love the vibrant colors you used on your cards.
Love this technique to make lots of holiday cards with dry embossing using dies!
Beautiful cards, love the colors and how you used the ampersand.
Love your use of non-traditional colours for these cards. And the florals are such a pretty addition!
What a fab idea. Love the bright non-traditional Christmas colours too!
Love the different elements used in this card.
The embossed plus sign and the little die cut
flowers (colored so prettily). Great card.

These are such lovely cards! I love the look of the dry embossing/debossing.
WOW Beautiful card! I really enjoyed watching your video! I didn’t know anything about dry embossing until I watched your video! Thank you for showing us how! And I really love those dainty little die cut flowers too!
Both of your cards are very nice! What a great idea to dry emboss and deboss. I have not tried that much.
I love both of your cards but the one using the lagoon cardstock is beautiful!! I just love that color!! Gorgeous!!
Very pretty. I like the colors and the dry embossing.
Beautifully designed, clean and simple layout with gorgeous colours.
Some of my most favourite Altenew products are my layering dies. I love the Fantasy floral dies and the Rose flurries and the Peony Dream flowers that these dies make. This new flower die set is on my wishlist. Thanks for the fantastic inspiration!
I love how dry embossing with your dies really helps to stretch your supplies.
This hop has definitely been Dynamic so far 🙂 I love the dry embossing/debossing that you did on your cards, it looks very cool! Thanks for sharing and the Dynamic inspiration. (mardy14@bellsouth.net)
These are so, so pretty, Therese … what a fabulous technique … such great impact! Those tiny blooms and leaves are just charming around the secondary sentiments … love how there’s a delicious blend of festive and tropical … so perfect for an Australian Christmas! Hugs, Anita 🙂
Two lovely cards, I like that you have shown the embossing and debossing using the same design. Something really different for Christmas.
These are just so stylish… love the effect of the debossing the most x
Those flowers are so fun with your wonderful ampersand! I never think about doing that technique – thanks for bringing it back to my mind!
