Video : Inlaid Die Cutting & Altenew Giveaway!

Today I share three different ways to use the Antique Engravings Cover Die from Altenew and you also get a chance to WIN!  This die is designed as a cover die, but I kinda forgot to do that.

I will start with the most clean and simple design, I used one of the Fine Frames to create a border from some Jet Black Cardstock and die cut a portion of the cover die to fit.

Altenew - Antique Engravings Cover Die - Therese Calvird (card) 1 copy

This would make a great sympathy card and so I added a script style sentiment from the Thinking of You Stamp Set.

My next card came from the ‘left overs’ from the card that you can see in the video below.

I added Dot Labels Die with a white heat embossed sentiment from the Bottleful Of Stamp Set (I know I say this every time but I love this font)!

My final card and video shares a simple inlaid die cutting technique with some nice bright fun colours.

The sentiment is from the Sweet Friend Stamp Set.

  1. Beautiful cards, I’ve seen this technique before, but you make it look easy. Thanks for reminding me of this technique.

  2. I love to do inlay diecutting! I find it so relaxing. Until I can’t find a piece! Like you I have dug through the trash more than once looking for a piece or two. However, I have never laid the tiny parts over the top and poked them in. I MUST try that. That is genius! Thanks for the idea!! Your card is beautiful!!

  3. I don’t know if you set out to make this video comical but you had me giggling Al my at parts. I was beyond pleased to see that I’m not the only one that gets in a fun pickle with die cute when inlaying. Therese all three cards were beautiful, lovely shades to choose & no waste from your extra diecuts. Thank you

  4. I love the inlaid look and the Anttinque Engraved Cover die is a perfect one for the technique. As I watched the video I was wondering how you were going to get the tiny tiny flower centers glued in place. That idea is brilliant.

  5. I love all of these cards. The inlay die is fabulous and you demonstrated how to use it beautifully!!

  6. Beautiful cards! Love that you showed the flexibility of the cover plate by just using portions of it. Gorgeous color combinations and designs.

  7. Your cards are fantastic ! The inlaid version is incredible, specially the way you did it : you did not choose the easy way, because you did it that way on purpose, didn’t you ? LOL !!!!

  8. Your cards are so gorgeous! I have done this once or twice with dies. I love the look-so professional looking!

    1. Hi Harriet, I have had that problem once and so now don’t push the top cover on very far. Mine just loosened itself but I was given advice like sitting it in hot water to separate it… But so far out of all the products that I have tried this one still works best for me, although I do have the Gina K Connect glue to try next lol. Hope you have the most fabulous day, Crafty hugs, Therese

  9. These cards are just beautiful, Therese, and I always learn something new from you! 💛 I’ve hesitated trying this technique, but your final result is so lovely, you’ve convinced me to give it a go! 🤗✨Thanks for your inspiration!

  10. Great ideas for something different and also how to make different cards with the same die. Love it!

  11. Your cards are all beautiful! The inlaid die cut card you showed in the video tutorial is gorgeous but wow so many little pieces! I thought it was such a great idea how you laid the yellow die cut overtop to fit the tiny pieces in place. I love the first card you created, the black and white looks so fantastic.

  12. Very special card Therese. This coverplate looks like a very versatile one. Thank you for sharing 💕💖

  13. Great cards. All the fiddling was worth it, the bold inlaid colours are fabulous. I was sympathising with you during the video, I have to delay many projects until I find missing things.

  14. I just love this! The die is a phenomenal way to make a statement with one color or several. This is the type of cards I’d like to make, I only have one larger die for backgrounds and it’s a Christmas one, so not as versatile as one like this. Thanks for sharing!

  15. These are all gorgeous, Therese … both colourful ones are so deliciously tropical … I’m doffing my cap at all that puzzle piecing you did, it’s beautiful! Had to laugh when you mentioned about searching the bin for a missing piece … I’ve so done that … what satisfaction there is in finding it rather than having to cut another (even though it’s probably taken me longer to find it than to cut!). That first card is so striking … elegant and lovely … and so perfect for a sympathy card! Hugs. Anita 🙂

  16. LOVE your clever ways you used this unique new die from Altnew! So creative and yet can be used so simply! The inlaid is the most divine and thank you so much for the video “how to”!!!

  17. I enjoyed watching you create this card! Very cool! You made me laugh along with you when you talked about trying to find the little bitty piece you needed & how you got excited upon finding it – too funny! Thanks so much for not only sharing how to make the card, but also the greatly organized items list! ❤❤❤

  18. Love this paper piecing, I can see myself getting confused with all the little bits. Lovely die. So much fun watching your tutorial and thank you for sharing.

  19. Simply amazing Therese, you have infinite patience putting together this gorgeous cards, love the fact you actually probably emptied your garbage can looking for that teeny tiny piece of the flower, I was laughing out loud, I give you another Thumbs Up!!! my dear.
    Thank you for sharing.
    XO
    Maria Rodriguez.
