Today I share 2 cards using Altenew Mask Stencils. This is part of my Take 2 with Therese video series with Altenew and if you haven’t caught any of these videos before I have a link to my playlist with more inspiration HERE.
This post is a Stamp Focus using the Versatile Vases Stamp Set. Now, my theory is that with all of these flower sets that I have, I really ‘needed’ some vases to put them in… works for me!
And what’s even better this set comes with a coordinating Mask Stencil and I share a couple of ideas on how to use this in the video linked below. Starting some ‘no line’ retro vases.
The patterns were taken from the Block Print Stamp Set and a little sprig of greener from the Striped Florals set.
The sentiment is sadly retired but any combo of similar sentiments could be used to recreate it.
My second design shares some one layer masking to create some water filled vases.
And my new fave peony set is called Beautiful Peony and it is just that!
I added some simple colouring with the Artist Markers and cut them out with the coordinating dies so that i could pop them up on the front of the card.
You can see my video here or Watch it in HD on YouTube.

I hope you are enjoying the recent techniques I’ve been sharing with the Mask Stencils, I certainly am enjoying them as a useful tool. Something I didn’t know I needed until I had it lol. Til next time, Hugs,

Awesome cards. Love to watch you create as you are an amazing Artist.
Your vases are amazing. If someone just looked at the ones done to resemble pottery and didn’t see your video, they would be looking for where to purchase the stamps. So realistic. My favorite card is your peony card. It has such a dreamy quality. I just purchased the Life Changing brushes but have not had the courage to try them. You have inspired me! If I may ask, how do you clean the brushes?
ummm, I don’t really clean them at all, but mostly just rub them off on a piece of paper or paper towel. I know people that rub them off on baby wipes or you can also wash them under a tap and set them to dry. There are some great tips in this video here https://youtu.be/qz77y9W4Jyk Hope this is helpful. Have a great and crafty day, Therese
Thanks. I will check out the video.
Here I am going in reverse order again … I clicked the bell on your YouTube channel, Therese! Often I get the video before the blog post!
In any order, this is such a fabulous lesson, my friend! It’s been eons since I’ve added water to a vase on paper – your use of masks are will be saved for the next time! xx
=]
Very cool techniques, Therese, and I love how your cards and vases turned out. Such unique designs. Now I have to be brave and give it a try! I just ordered those blending brushes, which I have been looking at for awhile. Your video is well done and makes me feel brave!
PS…..was checking my house for an alarm tweeting, until I realized you have birds! LOL!!
You made me laugh out loud, checking the house alarm haha! The birds that you hear are wild ones that fly through our back yard, we live in the sub tropics so many of them are parrots etc that can be quite noisy. Hope you have an amazing day and that you enjoy those brushes as much as I have been. Crafty hugs, Therese
Fantastic cards!! I love those vases, they are splendid!!
Extraordinarily creative use of the stamps and masks. Beautiful cards.
Your work is always amazing Therese, but somehow you have excelled yourself with these vases. So many inspirational techniques here today. I don’t know how you do it, but I’m glad you do! Your imagination must be working overtime! Particularly love the clear vases with the peonies, but am so impressed with the results of your “potteryâ€! Clever lady 😻
Nicely done color job and choices! I am so loving all of these new products! and thank you for the video. I appreciate it!
Wonderful cards, Therese! Those vases are fabulous.
absolutely stunning! I love these cards and love your videos
Absolutely gorgeous Therese!! Those vases are so realistic looking, perfectly transparent, what an amazing technique!!
And the solid vases are just as beautiful, love the colors and the lovely designs you created on them.
I’m intrigued about this tools you used for blending, are they real brushes with very fine bristles? Just curious.
Thank you for sharing these amazing cards and the video, it’s always so much fun and very inspirational to see you in action creating your cards.
Sending Hugs.
Maria Rodriguez.
PS. When your kitty was calling, mine came rushing, LOL!!
Oh my Therese. You outdid yourself with these vases. So realistic and beautiful. You are so good at this stuff!!!
Love, love, love those vases, and I think you’re right about the peony stamp – it could well take over as favourite.
Such amazing designs, truly stunning and aren’t those vases just so stylish, their definitely on my wish list. X
Therese, your cards are always amazing. Love your video and how you used the stencils.
The first card is as bold as the second is pretty! Wonderful job with these new tools, they are something fun and different!

You can add pottery design to your amazing skill set, Therese … these retro vases are just so cool! LOVE those glass vases … they have a slightly frosted look which is gorgeous … and those peonies are just perfect in them! Hugs, Anita 🙂
I am so glad I found your blog!
LOVE the way your designed these vases! So creative!
I wasn’t sure I wanted these vase products, but now I NEED them. Thank you so much for the inspiration.
Love both of your cards today but the retro vases are amazing! I think that the vases set is a must have! So versatile. Thanks for sharing your awesome ideas.
These are just gorgeous … another thing added to my want list!! Thanks (I think!)
Wow! Those vases are amazing and a definite necessity for all those beautiful flowers you use. Really love the water vases. Just stunning.
Stunning! I wont tell the other sets 🙂
Love these two cards. The vases look amazing and in the video, when you tipped the card, you could really see the shine on the stripped vase. It really looked liked pottery.
These new stencils are amazing. It’s crazy how something so new can change how you do things.
I’ve always been happy to make my own masks etc but these are just so versatile.
Cheers
Lisa
Love seeing the links to Auzz Trinkets for some of your supplies!! 🙂
I think you just sealed the deal, Therese. You did such a wonderful job sharing the details of making those vases look real that I may have to buy the stamps and stencil/masks. I also really love the peonies.
I love how you’ve coloured those vases… they would easily come home with me if i saw them in a shop 😉
