Altenew Build-A-Flower: Crocus Release Blog Hop & Giveaway + Video!

It’s time for the next Build-A-Flower release from Altenew and this one is a Crocus.  We are hopping along to celebrate the release so you should have arrived here from VICKY’s amazing Blog!

Yes, it’s another fab stamp layering set and today I decided to create my own Crocus lost in a field of leaves.

I love the idea to highlight just one of the flower images and I also popped up some of the leaves to add some dimension.

The sentiment is from the Signature Words Die set and is adhered directly onto the card front.

  1. Therese, I love this lone bloom… and just look at these leaves! They are often what draws me in to a floral set! Off to watch… xx
    =]

  2. No matter what you do…..
It will be beautiful. You are truly blessed. I, personally, liked the darker on better. Can you do one using the ORNATE FOLIAGE stamp set. You are the best. Say hi to your birds from Texas.

  3. Love the simplicity of this card. I really like the softer outline rather than the black outline we normally see. Beautiful card.

    1. Beautiful card as always, Therese! A really unique way to approach a floral stamp set, very effective!

  4. Beautiful card! Whenever our crocuses pop up in the yard, I always feel like Spring is just around the corner 🙂

  5. Beautiful card. How clever to “focus on the crocus” by using just one crocus to catch the eye!

  6. So simple, but stunning. A lovely new BAF set. I so enjoy your videos and calm voice. I did miss you.

  7. I love crocus and this is beautiful. I like the lighter colored one with this design!

  8. Love the card. The Prismacolor highlights helped but I like the contrast and zing that the darker crocus gave. Not that it’s not terrific anyway but . . . you asked!

  9. Lovely card and stamp set! I love your color choices, Therese, and the way you shaded the flower with a colored pencil!

  10. We live in MA in the USA and in the western part of the state in Tyringham there’s a B&B we stayed at in late May. The front yard hadn’t been mowed but there was a sign “Shhhh, crocus sleeping”. The owner, a woman in her 70s told us as a newlywed, she and her hubby helped plant the whole front lawn with crocus. She blamed her bad knees on that! lol Wonderful place at the foot of the Berkshire Mountains.

  11. Beautiful card!! Love Focus on the Crocus!! While I liked the colors of both flowers, my personal favorite was the darker. Shazam!!

  12. Building your card on a white background really made the greens and blues stand out. Beautiful!

  13. Love this flower set. Altenew has the most beautiful floral stamps sets. Always look forward to crocus each spring. Nice card.

  14. Love your card. The idea of using just the one flower worked beautifully. And I love that you used differen5 shades of green in your leaves

  15. Very pretty card! I really like the one flower on the card- it gives the card a lot of interest! Another beautiful flower from Altenew!

  16. I love the color you chose for the flower. This stamp set looks pretty straight forward to use as well. It’s going on my wishlist!

  17. That’s a beautiful shade of crocus and I like the lighter version with the addition of Prismacolor shading. So pretty!

  18. Just love the single crocus. The lighter one is so soft and peaceful. Just wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

  19. Therese I always enjoy seeing your make your cards & you have a lovely calm voice. I think your CAS style is perfect for this sweet flower that sprouts to life & promises spring is coming after a long winter. Thanks!

  20. Love watching you create, your cards are so lovely! This lonely bloom has a hug impact in the leaves! Altenew knows how to do flowers!

  21. Welcome back from your vacation, Therese. You don’t have to change anything on your card. It’s lovely and full of dimentions which I simply love. Thank you for your inspiration.

  22. Such a pretty card. Nice to see the experts also have mishaps, great to see how you can work around it.

  23. Such a lovely cas style card Therese. You did make it look ‘simple’ . Beautiful colours and i liked the darker one but the soft one blends in perfectly with the variegated leaves also.

  24. Therese, this is such a lovely card. Like the way you added dimension by using leaves stamped directly on the card and then added die cut leaves. As for the crocus coloring, I like them both, but I think the darker third inking is more dramatic. tfs

  25. I love your single flower card, so pretty! I like both the light and dark color of the flowers. I think they both would work nicely!

  26. Beautiful card, and thanks for reminding us novices about the “Rule of Thirds,” it was very effective on this card. I do like the darker flower too, but I think it would have required darker leaves.

  27. I love your “happy accident” where you added a die cut crocus! I liked the lighter colors, but do think the added touch with pencils was perfect

  28. Pretty card. I like the lighter flower better. Was great seeing your boo boo and you pulling through.

  29. Beautiful card and I like the lighter color better. It makes the card look very cool and springy. Wonderful design!!

  30. Therese, I love the abundance of leaves and the single Crocus! The subtle sentiment really allows the Crocus to shine. Great job!

  31. Beautiful bloom lost in the leaves. I love that you layered the leaves and there was only one bloom.

  32. Such a lovely card and beautiful stamp set. I love the colors you chose for such a gorgeous card.

  33. The teal color you chose for the crocus was the first thing I noticed about your card – it was lovely. I think using the pencils to add shadows was the way to go. Excellent card. Thanks for sharing.

  34. Your card is gorgeous. I think I prefer the lighter crocus over the darker one, but either one would work beautifully. I especially love that these crosuses can be stamped with so many colors. I recently ordered some Altenew ink cubes in the teal hues and this would be a perfect stamp set to use them with.

  35. The use of one flower makes a bold statement. So pretty. Reminds me of my mother’s day flower from my daughter. Tfs

  36. Great card. I like the various shades of green, and like how you corrected a mistake with the crocus coloring. So nice to keep creating!

  37. Such a pretty card Therese. I love both colours and your composition.
    Well done, as always!
    T x

  38. Sweet using the leaves across the border with only one bloom to show interest!! Great work!

  39. Love all the different greens you used for the leaves, which make the blues in the crocus really pop here! Great card. Can’t wait to get my Crocus BAF in my mailbox! Thanks for the inspiration, Therese!

  40. Very beautiful card and lovely color choices. This crocus set is amazing. Looks so great in many colors.
