How to Make 5 Beautiful Prismacolor Flower Cards – Gimme 5 Video!

Today I share 5 beautiful floral cards using some Penny Black stamps and my Prismacolor Pencils!

This is part of my Gimme 5 Series for Penny Black and if you haven’t seen these before then you can check out heaps more at my YouTube Channel Here.

My main focus today was colouring with Prismacolor Pencils because I have been using lots of watercolour lately and felt it was time to change it up.

Starting with a Golden Dance and I stamped this image using Smokey Grey Versafine Ink.

I created a Square Frames border which I popped off the card base.

My second card uses a no line technique and is the Bunches For You Stamp Set.

I added a simple sentiment from the Snippets set on a teeny tiny tag from the Gift Card Pocket Die Set.

Next I used a bold black outline for the Blushing flower and cut it out with the matching Cut Out Die.

The butterfly is from the Enamor Stamp Set which I decided to keep as line art.

Then for the next 2 cards both I used cling rubber stamps.  I used the shadows of the Love’s Glow stamp to work out where the shading of the petals would be.

I popped up an oval section of the stamp and added a sentiment which came From the Garden Stamp Set.

My final design uses the Dreams of Love stamp and a watercolour technique with Tombow markers, but this time I used the pencils to add shading and details to the image.

The sentiment for this card came from the Happy Times Stamp Set.

  1. It was great watching you use the pencils. The love’s glow card is mesmerising. It is amazing that you did it with pencils!! The softness and depth in it is an outstanding achievement. You have convinced me to get some pencils.

  2. Loved your video. I need lots of inspiration when it comes to colored pencils. I especially like the no line look so I’ll try that technique first. Thanks!
P.S. I just finished 3-D flower tutorial at Altenew Academy. Great job.

  3. Beautiful cards! Your coloring and shading is amazing. I need practice with colored pencils. I seem to have a heavy hand when using them.

  4. Some beautiful coloring! I love coloring with pencils and so appreciate the tips you offered in the video. What I’ve not tried is using pencils with other mediums. Something new to try. Thank you, Therese! Beautiful cards.

  5. What a beautiful array of cards. So delicate yet vibrant with color. Love every one of them.

  6. Hey Therese. Hope you are having a fine day. Your cards are beautiful and I love that you used your prismacolor pencils. Lately it seems as though they are being left behind as artists are using some of the pricier pencils. As if the prismacolors are not pricey enough…lol. I love my prismacolors and i don’t want any others but one gets the feeling that they are old school or something when in fact they are wonderful pencils and as you have shown here they make beautiful projects! Thank you so much for showcasing them today! It was a lovely surprise. I also love how you make it look so easy too! Thank you for sharing these lovely cards!

  7. Fabulous cards, I think Prismacolors blend really nicely too. Im going to have to look out for PB stamps that aren’t critters, lol hugd XoX

  8. Five cards and a video!
I really love this series and admire how you mix it up on all the cards.
    Love all the different colours.
The tiny sentiment tag attracted to the flower bouquet,(2nd card?), was the sweetest touch.
    Cheers
    Lisa

  9. I truly cannot even pick a favorite they are all so special and beautiful! I love watching you create– pure charm, pure inspiration!! Thank you so much for sharing your talents. HUGS!

  10. Love the tip of shading with brown instead of black or grey.
Such pretty cards. You inspire me … I’m off to colour! 🙂

  11. What better way to start the day but to watch you weave your magic with the way you colour – no matter which way you go. These cards are just beautiful. Thanks for sharing your talents with us all so regularly. It’s my early morning fix!

  12. When you colour with a stamped outline and use gamsol, do you ever need to restamp the lines?

    1. Hi Christine, You don not need to restamp the outlines. Generally I prefer to restamp them to make them darker again and sharpen the edges of the outline, I hope this makes sense. and I would never have done this without the MISTI tool, it would have been too scary lol. Hope you have a great day, Crafty hugs, Therese

  13. What a gorgeous collection of lovely florals, Therese … the one with the blooms bursting out of the envelope is especially splendid … what a beauty! Always love watching you colour with Prismacolours! Hugs, Anita 🙂

    1. Hi Doreen, I use 3M Blue Painters Tape (for delicate surfaces #2080) which I bought from Bunnings Hardware. But if it’s the Purple Tape that you want Auzz Trinklets sells it here https://bit.ly/2NsBeKT (this is an affiliate link which will not cost you extra but if you didn’t want to use it just head to the Auzz Trinklets store and search Purple Tape). Hope you have an amazing and crafty day, Therese

  14. Therese all of these designs are stunning the way you coloured them up. I usually love using Sharpe pencil crayon but am trying my hand with zigs currently, it was stunning to see your flower you used tombow markers on, will have a try at that for sure. Enjoy what’s left of the weekend x
