Altenew | Refresh Your Watercolor Brush Markers Blog Hop & Giveaway + Video!

Today I have a video sharing some easy ‘liquid watercolour’ flowers. It’s time for another fab release from Altenew and  we are hopping along to celebrate so you should have arrived here from EMILY’s amazing Blog!

You probably already know that the Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers are one of my favourite mediums to use and now I can refill them, but they are really sooo much more than that…..

I have 3 cards today starting with the background that I shared in the video linked below.  The Sweet Leaf, Mountain Mist and Lagoon colours were such a pretty blend that I kept the card itself very simple.

Altenew - Wallpaper Art - Waterbrush Marker Refill - Therese Calvird (card) 1 copy

I stamped some Wallpaper Art flowers and a very small sentiment from the Flower Vine Stamp Set.

I used Midnight Violet and Rubellite to ‘wash’ a background, and after this dried I white heat embossed a wreath from the Weekend Doodles Stamp Set.

I popped this up on a Real Gray panel which I splattered with some Antique Silver Ink Spray.

For my final card I created some liquid watercolor flowers.  I heat embossed some images from the Beautiful Peony Stamp Set and added them to a Moonrock panel.

I had to add some Antique Gold Ink Spray and a heat embossed sentiment from the Inked Flora Stamp Set.

  1. Beautiful cards Therese. Great techniques from you as usual. I think my favourite is the wreath from the Weekend Doodles set. Just love the simplicity and the sharpness of the contrasting colours.

    1. Such beautiful cards as always, Therese. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing talent and being an inspiration! Watercolour markers are definitely a favourite of mine xx

  2. I’ve gone backwards today from my stop at YouTube … hope it isn’t an indication of the weekend ahead! ha!
Gorgeous cards, Therese! Love seeing all this wet, wonderful, watery coloring!

    1. Gorgoeus cards, as always, loved the intensity of the yellows and the effectiveness of the black on the blue/green background.

  3. I love everything about the Beautiful Peony card. The watercolors you used look quite pretty and the overall look of the card from the paper to the painting are lovely.

  4. Colors on the wallpaper flowers just struck my eye as being so soothing and pure. Your wreath is beautiful and you Peony card is colored so exquisitely. Gorgeous work with watercolors.

  5. I adore your wallpaper flowers art card colors, it is so soothing and pure. The wreath card is gorgeous and your Peony is colored so beautifully. I love your use of watercolors.

  6. I couldn’t be happier that I can get refills now! I love the cards you’ve made using them and I’m inspired by your designs as well!

  7. First of all, I had to watch your video, because I would love to learn everything you have to offer. The green background card is so simple and yet so stunning, it took my breath away. These pens are amazing in their color richness, but they are so versatile with the refills and the way we can use them to create softer shades too. In my opinion, Altenew ROCKS with their products, as do you and your fellow artist who bring your talents to us “mere mortals”. Thank you so much!

  8. Hi Therese, Lovely cards! The colors you chose are so pretty together and really compliment the stamps you used. I need some of the Altenew sprays!

  9. Gorgeous cards! I really love your first card- the black stamped Wallpaper Art Flowers really pop off the green background!

  10. These are all beautiful. I love all three and It’s good to know that the Bristol card stock held up so well to the water. Your technique of dropping the colors onto the wet surface probably helped keep the paper from pilling!

  11. All 3 cards are lovely but the orange bouquet is outstanding! So bright and beautiful. I always love watching your videos and always learn something. Thanks!

  12. I love watching you create with the Altenew markers. I have Zig markers and I do love them. That being said, the colors here seem much more vibrant, and I love that. I may just have to get these refills and do some playing… as always, love what you do…

  13. Beautiful cards! I love the Beautiful Peony set from Altenew and using watercolour with embossing produces such a lovely look. Thanks for sharing! X

  14. Quite frequently my other job, the one that keeps a roof over our heads and allows us to eat, so gets in the way of what makes my heart smile.
So I finally got to read your blog post today and watch your video.
Thank you so much! I feel that today’s trio of cards where made just for me.
I can’t even pick a favourite as they are all just delightful.
So happy to see the addition of refills to these watercolour brushes.
    Cheers
    Lisa

  17. Your sending love flower card is gorgeous and I really love what you did with just stamping in black ink over your blue & green watercolor panel!

  18. Beautiful cards, Therese. I have a set of Altenew’s watercolor markers (coincidentally it includes the colors you used!), and these refills open up so many new possibilities. Thanks so much for demonstrating that background panel. I’ve been trying to achieve that look but I haven’t mastered it yet — I’ll definitely be trying this technique.

  19. Therese, your cards are gorgeous, as always! Love the many ways you can use these cool new watercolor marker refills! 🌼🌿🌸
