Easy Real Time Copic Colouring – Sweet Sympathy Card + Video!

Does’ colouring scare you?  If I look back and remember when I started creating cards it was all about cutting and sticking paper…    then became brave enough to start stamping…  not directly on the card front though and  not for a very long time lol…  next I started colouring, they were all very bold moves in my card making journey and I had almost forgot about where I started so many years ago.  You see, I hadn’t coloured anything since I was a kid and once I started again I was able to remember just how relaxing and fun it was. And what was even better I could now buy all these different mediums to try!

But I know that colouring is intimidating for some, but it doesn’t have to be complicated and today’s card has the most simplest of examples.

I used Copics to colour this sweet bird and the branches from the Backyard Bird Friends Stamp Set from Ellen Hutson.

I added a wide die cut frame to the card front using the A2 Layers Die from Waffle Flower Crafts and a simple sentiment from the Totally Random Sayings Vol 3 Set.

I find that Copics (or alcohol markers in general) are the ‘fastest’ way for me to add colour and they are very forgiving.  Do you like to do simple Copic colouring? or do you prefer to try and take it to the next level?  For me, I think it’s a bit of both, and that usually depends on my mood, the type of project and maybe the time that I have lol.

I look forward to seeing you back here real soon,

  1. Therese, this is a beautiful card, so clean and elegant. Absolutely love it. You never fail to inspire (and please). Thank you.

  2. I’m not good at copic coloring, so I tend to like the simple coloring. I think I probably just need to practice more, lol.

  3. Lovely, Therese … there’s a wonderful simplicity about it that comes from all the open space and those delicate little images … perfect for a sympathy card! Your colouring is always inspiring, even when (in your world!) it’s simple … I need practice! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  4. So lovely – a beautiful card and perfect for sympathy.

I can’t imagine you just sticking paper to make a card for some reason! I started back at work this week and went to write and struggled! I haven’t coloured for ages so it’s going to be going back to square one for me I do have the urge to colour so now to clear some time! 😉

  5. Beautiful sympathy card, Therese! I love the color of the bird in the end! I remember the dilemma I had about deciding to try (and invest) in Copic markers. Each new thing I try (like making videos) is because of people like you who are so encouraging along the way!

    1. Oh yes, they are an investment, but to me, now that I’ve had them for so many years and rarely add colours it’s been well worth it. Now, there are so many other choices as well, which is fabulous! thanks so much Kara!

  6. This is beautiful, Therese. I try to keep my coloring simple, though I think I get overwhelmed when seeing so many others. Which in return leads me to thinking I need to do more. I just need more practice. lol However, right now, I’ve been all about colored pencils rather than my markers. But I tend to go in phases when using mediums. 😉 Thanks so much for sharing!

    1. I totally hear you, but I don’t think it needs to be complicated and colouring can still look great even when hours and hours are not spent on one image. We are all having our own journey and sometimes I spend minutes and sometimes I spend hours lol. Thanks so much for your sweet visit and comments Shelly. Crafty hugs, Therese
