How to Add Easy Shading to Silhouette Flowers With Watercolour + Video!

I couldn’t decide what to make today so I did a little trick that sometimes helps inpsire me which I share in the video below!  Today’s post is part of my Take 2 With Therese Series at Altenew and if you haven’t seen these before you can find them HERE.

I decided to play with some silhouette flowers from the Vase Fillers Stamp Set.

And I used the Watercolor Brush Markers to add some simple shading to the stamped silhouette flowers.

The sentiment for this design is from the Crystal Frames Stamp Set and I framed it with the new Nesting Frames Die Set.

My second card has a bouquet of flowers!

I added some gold spatters to the background

and a heat embossed sentiment from the Flower Vine Stamp Set.

  1. These are beautiful! The spicy yoghurt cardstock gives it a lovely vintage floral look. Adding the extra colour with the markers adds just the right amount of depth.

  2. Beautiful cards! You are so talented. What you did with the watercolor markers is remarkable. I liked the small sentiment too! Thanks for sharing!

  3. Can I just say first, how refreshing it was to hear a pro (you’re a pro), say that they too get creative blocks, and tell us how to work thru those blocks. Also, I learn something every time I watch your videos. So, thank you for the video tutorials!!! They give us inspiration. 🙂

  4. I liked both sentiments. But the smaller one probably is my favorite. I love the waterbrush markers. Of course you make it all look so easy. Thanks for the inspiration.

  5. Both cards are so pretty and spring- like. I like both of the sentiments. I often make cards and leave the sentiment off until I decide who is to receive the card.

  6. I have said it before but will again – it’s always lovely to come by each morning (mostly) and check out what inspiration you have for us all. You never disappoint. Both these card are beautiful. My favourite is the second one with that fabulous layout and I liked the smaller sentiment. Thanks for sharing your talents with us as often as you do. We so appreciate it.

  7. I love both cards Therese! The colours are so pretty and soft and that touch of gold here and there was so lovely! I liked both sentiments at the end but the smaller text would have won me over as well, I liked the font of the miss you but it was a little large and in your face on such a delicate and elegant design. I hope you enjoyed your visitors, thanks for sharing with us!

    1. I agree, the font on the Miss You sentiment is the whole reason I have that stamp set, it’s quite retro and fun! thanks so much for your lovely visit here today Karen. Hope you have a great weekend! Hugs Therese

  8. You did a beautiful job adding shading to those silhouettes, Therese. I never thought of that and hope I remember to try it on my own silhouettes. The design of both cards is fantastic.

  9. Wow, Therese. How awesome are you! Your cards are always fabulous, but these are extra-special. You rock!

  10. A delicious duo, Therese … the shading on the silhouettes adds such yummy dimension on both cards! The cluster with the gold overlapping frame is especially gorgeous … I think you were right with the smaller font, slender sentiment strip … the proportions are perfect with the delicate flowers! Enjoy your visitors! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  11. Wonderful video, Therese, and the cards are so pretty. I find it hard to believe you “struggle” for inspiration at times, but I suppose you’re never going to post a video of nothing being created whilst you search for your mojo, lol. Glad you have some time off, have a lovely time with your friends.
