Fun Tips For Using Felt on a Christmas Card – Ellen Hutson Holiday Release Day Hop, Giveaway + Video!

Have you ever used felt on a card? Today I have a video creating a Christmas card sharing a few ‘felty’ tips along the way. But first, I have sooo much more……

Today is special as there is a HUGE release at Ellen Hutson and I had such fun playing with these new magical products! We are hopping to celebrate so you should have arrived here from JEN’s fabulous Blog! I have sooo many cards to share that I had just better get right to it.

Starting with the most clean and simple first. I just had to use this ‘tangle’ of lights from Bear Ware 5 with a sentiment from Love and Light.

I added some dimension with Crystal Glaze (I love this stuff, it’s not finicky like some other similar products).

Next it’s time to play with the Tag Trio Die Set. This is my first ‘homemade’ tassel and I used the DMC thread that Ellen Hutson has which co-ordinates perfectly with the felt colours.

Lostinpaper - Ellen Hutson - Tag Trio - Warmest Wishes - Made This for You(tag) 1

I added a sentiment from the Warmest Wishes set and a cute snowman which is from Made This For You Stamp Set.

Next I added some of the Bear Ware 5 accessories to the All Inside bear so that

I could add a Sparkly Christmas Sentiment. I think this would make a great kids Christmas card.

Another clean and simple design, this time having some fun with the Deer Antlers.

I thought this sentiment from Mountain Holiday was the perfect choice!

Finally on to the felt and my video. The 12 Days set inspired me to create a card sharing a Partridge in a Pear Tree…. literally.

Lostinpaper - Ellen Hutson - 12 Days - Love and Light - Gingerbread Skellie Add On (card video) 1

I did add a simple sentiment from the Love and Light stamp set as well as a heart from the Skelly Add-On set…. have you seen the Gingerbread Plushies yet, you MUST check them out!!

    1. You use negative space really well and love all your different inspirations. Such neat ideas. Now felt on a card sounds a little scary. Maybe if I hand sewed it on the panel. Not a fan of glue and tape on felt. But I have done my fair share of sewing felt.

  1. WOW!! So many fabulous creations! I love the simplicity of the tangled lights and antler cards. The Cool Yule sentiment fits perfectly. Your felt card is so creative. Thanks for sharing your process and tips on video.

  2. LOVE the felt on the tag! never thought to do that but you bet your boots I will now! thank you for the inspiration!

  3. Therese, every creation is such a joy to behold! and every release that includes the bear has me wondering why I never bought that guy?!! Then I realize: he’s in the right hands already! xx
    =]

  4. Such fun cards! Those antlers on the bear are WILD and crazy! THe colors on the felt card are so pretty 💕

  5. Love how you used the felt and the yummy pastel colors. What did you do to my dear bear?! Love it all. Thanks!

  6. Wow! Your projects are fantastic! I absolutely love your gift tag–the colors really speak to me, and that tassel is THE bomb! I also really like how you used the Bear Ware 5 stamps! SO cute!

  7. Such fun! Love the textured touchability (is that even a word??) of the cards with the elements of felt, shiny glossy stuff and tassels. Haven’t used felt on a card for a while or glossy stuff either! I’m usually too impatient to wait for it to dry – does that sound like me?? 🙂

  8. What an awesome bear card. Kids will love this!
    Another fantastic release from Ellen.
Thank you for sharing with us.
    Keep well.
    T x

  9. Oh, gosh! I love everything you made! I am SUCH a fan of tags, it’s embarrassing how many tag dies I own. Plus, Bear Ware is ALWAYS a must have. Thanks so much for sharing these items with us.

  10. Fun projects with this awesome release! Really loving your tangle of lights card , and also the bear with his holiday accessories!

  11. The whole release looks amazing and I love all your creations.
Your partridge in a pear tree card was so much fun and watching you create it a blast.
As usual. a great big thank you.
    Cheers
    Lisa

  12. Ooooh, that first card is CASilicious, Therese … the bears are just so fun … and the tassel-y tag is brilliant … and cute! The soft cosiness of the inlaid partridge in a pear tree is yummy … positively touchable! Fantastic inspiration, as ever! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  13. As always loving your work! I’m a huge fan of bear wear…always makes me laugh. No matter the season. Thank you for sharing.

  14. I really like the partridge in a pear. I always have felt, but rarely use it, so I’m going to have to break it out and try this. Thank you so much for sharing this idea, and all of your wonderful cards.

  15. So much fun. I usually REALLY love one or two pieces of a release. This one is killing me – I love them all. Big Sigh – so hard to choose. Your partridge card is so lovely. I also am really attracted to the tag with light colors.

    1. I couldn’t choose either…. so I had to go back and buy the ones that I didn’t have from the release lol.. that means I didn’t have to choose, but don’t tell my hubby lol.

  16. Love your partridge in a pear card. Just ordered the Platinum6…can’t wait to try using felt with my die cuts. Your videos make me smile:)

  17. Love the felt ornament. Have to try
this one – make ornaments for my
    granddaughter’s Christmas tree.
    Cute cards and tag. thanks
    for sharing.

  18. Wow! There isn’t a favourite in the lot as they are all so awesome! I would love to see how you made your scientist bear card though.

  19. Oh my goodness! I was gonna comment on my favorite card, but each one caught my attention in one way or another. Well done!

  20. Such fantastic cards! I’m smitten with bare ware and love seeing all the fun! And the felt partridge is beautiful!!

  21. All of your cards are just gorgeous, I love the simplicity of just using the lights from the bear wear with a sentiment. And the non traditional colors of pink and green on the tag are just beautiful. Thanks for all of the inspiration, I cannot wait to get my release purchases in the mail to try and recreate some awesome cards

  22. Wow! That’s a bunch of cuteness. AND a homemade tassel. I’m sure mine would never look so impressive. Very professional.

  23. Thank you for the tips for cutting a using glue with the felt! Your ideas and work is absolutely beautiful!

  27. I love all the little touches on your cards! And your use of Bear is just so clever every time! My favorite, though, is the color scheme on that striped tag with the little white embossed touches.

  28. Love the partridge in the pear! Such great items in this new release and your Christmas cards are so fun – thanks for sharing!

  29. Therese, someone commented earlier ‘fun and joyful’, took the words right out of my mouth! I loved all of your creations but I was totally drawn to your felt partridge card…wow! I am so glad I watched the video because I was going to give those dies a pass but now, of course, I need them. Bear Wear is a must no matter what the season and I love the whimsical spin you gave him here. Thanks for sharing.
