Inspired by FLORAL Colour Combos | Take 2 With Therese+ Video!

How are YOU inspired? If I am feeling in a slump I head directly to COLOURs and I have a FREE download to share which may help you too…. and did someone say GIVEAWAY!

But before we start did you know that this video is part of my Take 2 With Therese series of videos that I create for Altenew? You can check out the full playlist right HERE for more inspiration.

Today I used the CLASSIC BOUQUET combo which was inspired by this video HERE! And if you haven’t grabbed it yet you can get my FREE Floral download and subscribe to my email by completing your details in the sidebar.

And the BONUS is that ALL the colour combos include links to the coordinating videos!

I chose to ‘colour’ today with Watercolor Brush Marker Refills, but you could use any watercolour medium that you have. I just knew that mine had to be bright!

Altenew - Layered Blossom Cover Die - All About You Word Die Set - Take 2 With Therese (card video) 1

And this is a new’ish’ set which I am loving, it’s the All About You Word Die Set.

To which I added subsentiments from the versatile Sentiment Strips 2 Stamp Set.

Did you notice that I used the same supplies but the cards look different? This is because I changed up how I used the colour combo for each.

My second card has an inlay die cut sentiment. You can see the process in the video linked below.

You can see my video here or Watch it in HD at YouTube.

GIVEAWAY – I have two $15 Gift Certificates to spend at the Altenew online store to give away. Simply leave a comment here at my blog (only one per person) by Sunday 26th July!

I hope you are inspired to create with one of my Altenew Floral colour combos! If you do, I’d love to see it so please tag me on social media! Thanks so much for stopping by today, hugs,

  1. Your take two series is so inspiring. It keeps reminding me to make more than one card while your supplies are out.

    1. Oh yes, it makes it more worth while. I especially like stamping multiple flowers if I’m going to take the time to line them up in the MISTI, then why not! thanks so much for your lovely visit here today Diane!

  2. Therese, they are drop dead GORGEOUS!!! LOve the dramatic color combination, and your use of NAVY is brilliant!
Thanks again for sharing your color combos – for a girl whose favorite color is GREY, it might be very helpful!
    =]

  3. Wow Therese! You knock it out of the park every time! I really do want those layering dies. Love the navy…good choice!!

    1. hahaha they are such beautiful dies I agree, it’s hard not to want them all lol. But you could try this technique with flower dies or other background dies too, thanks so much for your lovely visit here today Kathy!

  4. Your cards are beautiful! Thanks for sharing how you created background with watercolor refills. The navy adds a perfect touch to the bright flowers. Nice choice of sentiments too.

  5. These cards are so beautiful Therese! I love the combination of the pink, green and navy. I have the Altenew Dog Rose dies, and I think I will give this colour combo a try with that set! Thanks always for your inspiration and sense of humour! ❤️

  6. Beautiful color matching. Never thought of using watercolor backgrounds for die cutting flowers. Thanks for the tutorial! ❤️❤️

  7. Thanks for the inspiration! I do have these flower dies and have neglected them way too long! But now it’s time to pull them out again!

  8. O, Therese! I love both of these designs, but am especially drawn to the contrast of the white with the bright pink and dark navy. I have a few “combo” type cover dies in my stash, but haven’t used them for want of an idea. This is it!!

    Thanks for sharing,
    Laura

    1. I’m so happy that you enjoyed these designs and even happier that you are inspired to try out the technique too. I hope you have fun with it!

  9. Love the colour combo! I’ll have to try it with the watercolour technique and some flower dies 🙂

  10. Gorgeous! I love both of them but I especially love the one with the blue outline on top and the round sentiment.

  11. I have been enjoying your videos for some months now, Thank You for all of your inspiration! I have the Altenew die set that you used in this video but have never done this style of water color with it. I will give it a try and hope I like my results as much as I like yours. Great cards !!!!

    1. oooh, I do hope you get a chance to give this a try Carol. It was very easy to do and any number of colour combos would work great, hope you have fun with it!

  12. Theresa, I wish I could get inside your head to see how you come up with such great creations. My fave of the 2 is the blue overlay. Stunning color combo. Thanks for the chance to win some “altenew money”.

    1. hahaha it’s a whirlwind in my head sometimes…. might be because I’m a Gemini, and a girl… what a great combo lol. Thanks so much for your lovely visit here Laurie!

  13. I just adore all your favorite color combos but this one is just so vibrant. It may be my favorite as well, Therese! Thanks for your inspiration!

  14. Love these so much! Thanks for the inspiration. I have some Altenew cover dies that will work for this technique I think. I think I need to order some of the navy card stock, because it looks awesome with these colors and would with other combos also.

    1. The Altenew cardstocks are lovely and a good addition if you just need a little something to ‘top up’ an order (not that I ever have that problem lol). thanks so much Barbara!

  15. What a great technique to color the panels and then use the layered die cuts. I plan to give this a try with the Layered Floral Cover Dies I own. Thanks for the inspiration!

  16. I always thoroughly enjoy all of your videos. You never fail to make me smile! I am amazed at how you are able to work full time and still make so many videos!
Your cards are beautiful and you are such a great teacher. I wish that one day I could meet you-I am a great fan of you!!

  17. LOVE this color combination! My favorite card, if I have to choose, is the one with the navy outline. My second favorite is the one with more of the bold pinks. Kind of a cheat, right? 🙂
I would have been cursing a blue streak trying to get that “miss you” inlay put together. But you handled those tiny bits like a true professional….or was it just great sound editing? 🙂
    Thanks for the beautiful inspiration.

    1. hahaha you know my secrets lol. Could have been just a little bit of sound editing going on hahaha. Thanks so much yet again for your lovely visit here today June!

  18. Well I just love both cards. You have totally inspired me with that watercolor coloring and die cutting afterwards. I’ve never done that technique. Thank you Terese for your beautiful and articulate tutorials. Have a blessed day.

  19. I’m a sucker for stained glass so I prefer that one. You did an amazing job of having your green & pink colouring line up with the die.

  20. Hi Therese. I absolutely loved the cards. The colours are spectacular on them. Thanks so much. 😊

  21. These are two fabulous cards! Coloring die cuts is a new technique for me and I can’t wait to try it. I get your blog and have followed your Two By Therese cards. You may not always “think” your mojo is there, but I learn from you and your pretty creations. Thanks for sharing with us all. Martha in Minnesota

  22. Such beautiful cards. My favorite is the two die card with the dark outline due on top. Love the white what contests with the darker rocker colors Your presentation videos are always so calming to me. Thank you for sharing

  23. A friend asked me why I like Altenew….just take one look at these cards and it’ll answer that question. Altenew makes some of the most beautiful stamps and dies. Quality is never an issue and the choice for color just goes on and on. Thank you again for sharing I really enjoyed your class during the summit too.

    1. I sometimes like watercolouring first because then it feels like I can be ‘looser’, I’m usually too much of a control freak with watercolour lol. Thanks so much for your lovely visit here today Sheri!

  24. Wow, both are beautiful, such lovely colours. You always come up with something to inspire us. 😀

  25. These cards are stunning. Would never have thought of using navy but that just makes them especially the one with the navy outline.

    1. Navy is a ‘Tasnim’ colour, she is the one who inspired me to use it and it seriously goes with every other colour lol. I’m so happy you like it Julie!

  26. Your cards are absolutely gorgeous! You always amaze me. I don’t have watercolor marker refills, but I do have watercolor markers (one of my favorite coloring mediums) so I definitely will be giving this a try! Just as a side note, I purchased some double-sided adhesive paper to adhere delicate die cuts, and I’m sure it would work wonderfully if only I ever remembered to use it. So, in addition to inspiring me, you also make me feel better about forgetting to make my life easier.

    1. hahaha so true, I should have those adhesive sheets stuck to my forehead lol. The watercolour markers will work perfectly for this project, I do hope you give it a try Cyndi!

  27. Beautiful vibrant colors – yes the Altenew colors are the best for “staying” power. I agree with the others who say the outline floral card is the favored one. I always enjoy seeing your creativity and love how real you are and your laugh at mistakes. Makes me feel good, thanks!

  28. The bright pink with the navy is a gorgeous combination, Therese. I too forget to put the adhesive behind delicate cuts.

    1. Anything bright and cheery makes me happy and these cards certainly fit that description lol. Thanks so much for your lovely visit here today Yvonne!

  29. Beautiful cards Therese. I have this cover die set (Layered Blossom) so I really appreciate seeing another way to use it.

  30. Lovely as usual Therese. It’s awesome hearing an Aussie Accent on Altenew Videos. My birthday is the 27th so winning a gift certificate would be a nice pressie❤️🇦🇺

  31. Your cards are always beautiful, I enjoyed your class at the cardmaker’s success summit. I love the one withe the blue outline

  32. What a fabulous cart set, I especially love the navy blue cover die over the vibrant pinks and reds. Thank you so much for sharing!

  33. Hi Therese, it’s lovely to hear your Aussie accent. I’m in Auckland, New Zealand. I love both these cards, they look very elegant with the blue, red and pink, just gorgeous! Stunning colour combos can make all the difference when I’m in a slump too!

  34. I love these cards, I’ve always loved navy and pink together. Thanks for the inspiration.

  35. Beautiful cards. I particularly like the second with the “miss you” die cut sentiment❤️

  36. Amazing how using the navy in different layers makes such a huge difference to the finished look. The inlaid circle was a great sentiment idea too. Lovely cards.

  37. Hey Therese! These are amazing cards, I love the color combos. I’m always inspired by your style and techniques. And hello from Michigan! I think I remember you said in a live video one time your husband was from Michigan?? Thanks for all the great inspiration!

    1. Yay! Hi there Cortney, Welcome and yes you are correct my husband is from Grand Rapids Michigan ( a long time ago lol.) I do hope to get there one day, crossed fingers it will be sooner rather than later, maybe we’lll organise a get together with us crafters!

  38. Hello from Canada, thx for all your inspiration and beautiful cards, I love your style and videos! Definitely going to get that download, thx so much for offering!

  39. I’m absolutely blown away by the different cards using the SAME materials. I need to experiment more!

  40. Just gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for always sharing such fun and innovative ideas! I think I’ve watched just about all your videos by now. 🙂

  41. Oh my! I absolutely LOVE the “miss you” card! Will definitely be trying out this technique with some cover dies!

  42. Gorgeous cards! I thought I liked the one without the outline die best but, after you finished both cards, I couldn’t decide which one I like best!

  43. Theresa these two cards are just amazing and I love the sentiments!
Always enjoy your videos and your tips help me so much.
I’ve yet to totally work out the newish adhesive paper form altenew but practice makes perfect right?
Love the colour combos and grateful for the email.
    Cheers
    Lisa

    1. Liquid glue is typically more ‘forgiving’ than adhesive paper but not as easy to use…. there is always a trade off lol. thanks so much for taking the time to visit Lisa x
