Can you think of a ‘different way’ to die cut a flower? Today I am excited to be Guest Designer for The Flower Challenge. And we were asked to ‘Use a Die’… what could I do if I didn’t have a matching die?
I adore this dreamy image from Altenew’s Watercolor Coloring Book. And I had such fun colouring it with the Woodless Watercolor Pencils when I was away camping last month.
Obviously I didn’t have a coordinating die, so I started to think about what I could do…..
Initially I was going to die cut it as an oval centrepiece. But then I had a lightbulb moment and I decided to use the Essential Hexagons.
I can’t wait to see how you are inspired to ‘Use a Die’ with some flowers. Show off your talent and head to The Flower Challenge to share your creations. Crafty hugs,

Absolutely brilliant, Therese!! I could hardly wait for this to go live! Your use of a geometric die, instead of a coordinating one, just blows me away! Your water coloring of that color book page is gorgeous to start with! Loving the aqua ‘greenery’ and our fave pink/orange color combo!
Thanks, so very much, for being our guest this month, my friend! Such a wonderful surprise!
=]
Sooo happy that you liked this Michele, I really had such a relaxing time colouring it and of course loved the colours lol.
Wow Therese what a great idea to use the hexagon dies to make your card! So inspirational as always with your beautiful cards. Thank you so much for being our Guest Designer again this month. I think you know we just love having you as our GD over at ‘The Flower Challenge’ 😉 Viv DT xx
Thanks so very much Viv, love love love joining you guys, it’s always such fun!
Brilliant and stunning.
Thanks so much!
My husband and I vacationed on a houseboat for a week, and I water colored during my “alone time”, but I did not get the results you did. Your coloring is AMAZING! So much detail– how could you bear to cut that image? Maybe I should cut my projects…..into confetti and call it a puzzle! Ooooh! that would be a good die to use for this challenge!
hahaha now confetti would make it very difficult to put back together lol. A houseboat sounds like fun…. it’s been an age since I’ve been on one!
I love this – such a great idea. Also the colors are so soft and dreamy.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much Marian!
what a fantastic idea, Therese – keep seeing all these wonderful cards made with the Altenew coloring book – think maybe I really “need” it!
It’s a great little book, I especially like it to ‘travel’ with as I usually don’t take anything but now I can grab this and my watercolour pencils and brush and I have all I need!
Absolutely gorgeous card. I’m blown away. Just so creative â¤ï¸
Thanks so much Delia!

I am so happy that you like this Jyoti!
Oh my goodness–it took me a while to realize how you die cut your watercolored flower! This is brilliant… and gutsy, too! Love it!
hahaha love the ‘gutsy’ part, not sure if I was that but you are so sweet Donna, thank you x
“Gutsy” is an admirable term! I don’t know if I could cut into a watercolored bloom like you did. Nope, probably not! 😉
Thanks so much Donna, maybe I did just close my eyes a little with the first die cut lol. ps We use the word ‘gutsy’ the same way here too. Hugs Tx
So stunning and original! hugs x
Thanks so much x

Wow this so sophisticated, modern and fresh. I love it ! xx
Thanks so muc Angellica!
There’s, I love this card so very much! Just the coloring alone is gorgeous, but adding the hexagon die cut is wonderful.
No one has asked, so maybe I’m being dense, but, did you just cut the floral over and over with one hexagon die?
Hi Susan, thanks so much for your lovely visit here today, to answer your question. Yes I did just cut the panel over and over with a hexagon die, the first cut was the hardest lol. Hope you have a great and crafty day, hugs Tx
Sorry for the typo Therese
What a piece of art, Therese! Spotted this at the Flower Challenge and had to pop over. Just love your watercolored flower (I have yet to dip into that coloring book which I ordered months ago…) but die cutting it with the hexagons? Brilliant!!
Thank you so very much Linda, I do hope that you open that book real soon it’s so much fun to colour! Crafty hugs Therese x
