How to Add EASY Colour With Ink Pads (2 Ways) + Video!

Do you have any ink pads? Today I have 2 Ideas to ‘colour’ with your Ink Pads!

But first… Did you know that this video is part of my Take 2 With Therese series of videos that I create for Altenew? You can check out the full playlist right HERE for more inspiration.

The BEST thing about colouring with your ink pads is that they are going to be exactly the colour that you want!

Altenew - BAF Narcissius - Circled Sentiments - Fancy Greetings - Take 2 With Therese (card video) copy

My first idea uses the Build-A-Flower: Narcissus flower layer stamped as ‘no-line’ colour.

These would be some of my ALL-time fave ink combos from Altenew.

Then I added them to a card with a Jet Black ink splattered background, with a Circled Sentiment.

My second card uses the same inks but as ‘watercolours’.

This time I heat embossed the images,

and I used a sentiment from the Fancy Greetings Stamp Set.

You can see my video here or Watch it in HD at YouTube.

I hope you are inspired to create a card with either ‘layered ink’ or ‘watercoloured ink’! And if you do, I’d love to see it so please tag me on social media! Thanks so much for stopping by today, hugs,

  1. Hi, Therese! Wow, girlfriend, these are just amazing! I am really loving this Very Peri from Panetone season because it’s bringing out everyone’s purple jam and I love, love, love purple! Your soft, muted colors are so lovely. This would also work for a sympathy card. Gorgeous work like always.

    1. I agree, they would make a great sympathy card, these colours would be perfect. I really like purples, but tend not to use them much in my papercrafting….. although yesterday I was colouring with purple, maybe it’s the Panetone influence! I heard it was the colour this year but haven’t checked it out yet.

  2. Both cards are beautiful! The water colored flowers are GORGEOUS! But no-line ink layering is an “idiot-proof” (or “June-proof”) way of getting the depth of color for a more realistic look……hmmm, which is my favorite? I guess the water colored. My trouble is waiting for things to dry before adding more color. I really like how the color “pools” with the heat embossed lines for a darker color.
Have you ever tried using the layered stamps to water color? I’d like to see you try that!

    1. hahaha ‘June-proof’ you totally made me laugh out loud! And yes I do remember layering with watercolour ‘stamped’ flowers, I’m just trying to remember if I did it in a video or not. But it was definitely fun! If I find it I will send you the link.

  3. Both cards are stunning! Love the colors you used! My favorite is the water colored one because of the variations in colors you created.

    1. The watercolour one is my fave too, I think it’s the softer look with these colours that makes me happy. Thanks so much for your lovely visit here Karen!

    1. The watercolour one wasn’t difficult to make as there weren’t many ‘layers’ of colour to add, only 2 so it didn’t seem to take long…. but then you know how crafting hours can be, suddenly you look up and it’s dark lol.

      1. Hehe yes those crafting hours fly by! I wish someone would work out how to get more no matter how many there are there never seems to be enough! 🤣
